I hope…

2017 was a very sucky year. I’m not going to go into all the ways it was sucky cuz I hate dwelling on negative stuff. I’ve been off line almost completely since Ben started his three week winter break. I was only sporadic for weeks before that. I think about all of my WordPress clan and I miss you all, but I just haven’t had the spoons. Life keeps happening.

Anyway, new year, new start right?! New calendar anyway. I got mine at the dollar store and it has kittens on it. Already starting out right😺.

I hope that you have more laughter than tears, more good days than bad, more gain than loss. I hope that you never feel alone, afraid, unlovable, unwanted or unaccepted. I hope that if, like me, you have physical and/or mental health challenges that you get the support and care you need and deserve. I hope that if you feel the ground fall away and you’re plummeting down in the dark that someone gives you their hand and pulls you back into the light. Or better yet, you realize you have wings and you soar! I hope you remember your inner child and the joy of playing. Go to the park, swing on the swings, stomp in mud puddles, skip rocks, build a blanket fort in your bedroom, whatever makes you happy.

To the other parents and carers of kiddos on the spectrum, I hope you get the support you and your kiddo deserves. I hope there are more high-fives than meltdowns. I hope you never feel hopeless and alone.

To my adult friends on the spectrum, I hope you find acceptance for being exactly who you are. I hope you flap and twitch and fiddle whenever, wherever you want to. Ignore the buttheads that stare and/or comment. I’m not even on the spectrum and I’m “weird” in public all the time. It entertains me do unexpected things.

I don’t believe in making resolutions but I am going to make a promise to myself. I’m going to be kinder to myself. I’m going to treat myself like I would a friend. I’m going to quit holding myself up to ridiculous expectations. And I’m going to do random acts of kindness. The world could use more kindness.

We have one more week until school starts again so I may still be away from the internet. Take care of yourselves! You’re very important to me!
