May is better than April

I’ve noticed that I’m spending more time in the comments of other blogger’s than my own blog again. I can’t use the excuse that I have nothing to say, because I always have something to say.

So, let’s catch up from my last post, and just in general. April was all kinds of Hell for so many people I know and my house had it’s share of woes. April is over though, and good riddance!

Ben continues to do well at his new school. In fact, the day after my last post, he came home with a picture in his backpack of him sitting on a pony. Yes, he got to ride a pony at school. How cool is that?! He still tells me “No school” every morning, but I think it’s just him holding to the Kid Code that doesn’t allow for any enthusiasm for school.

My younger daughter and her partner have both found jobs. My daughter lost her job over health related absences and lateness in April and her partner hasn’t worked since January, so this is awesome. Now they can start paying their way and money won’t be so tight. We can pay down the credit cards that have been supplying groceries.

I went to my appointment with my new primary care doctor and it went well. I like him. They took blood, referred me for a boob squish (aka mammogram) and scheduled a follow up for a physical. I’m not looking forward to that because he wants to do a full physical. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about here. It’s been years (decades?) since I had everything checked, so I’m due. And, I’ve never had a boob squish so that definitely needs to be checked. Also, he’s going to write that letter for my pain management doctor. YAY!

We’re only a little over a week into May, but already it’s so much better than April. Now hopefully I didn’t just jinx the whole thing. Murphy’s Law and all…

  1. I somehow *lost* my prescription to get the mammogram completed. I know – needs to be done, just not to thrilled for all that. So, I feel your dread! But hey, that is awesome the new Dr. is cool! I was thinking about you, hoping things would turn out well with him – glad to hear that they did! On a horse?!?! How cool is that!!! So good to hear about his new school adventures! And glad to hear your daughter and her partner have found jobs. I have the Forrest Gump quote in my head “We don’t have to worry about money no more. And I said good! One less thing!” πŸ™‚

  2. So glad to hear the good news about Ben! And now I’m really enjoying the image in my head of the young King Ben astride his trusty steed as the jaunty beast saunters clippity-cloppety toward class down a school hallway! LOL πŸ™‚ Here’s to May!!!

    1. Thank you! I wanted to post the picture, but sometimes I write about things that are private and he’s only nine, so can’t give consent.
He’s a little more Don Quixote than Sir Lancelot πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Glad to hear you are taking care of yourself, getting a mammogram, and a full physical. That’s so important.
Very exciting news about your daughters new job. Bravo! It’s always good when they contribute to the income of the home 🏑. And a pony ride? Wow! What a cool school.
Hope your May keeps getting better and better.
    Blessings-
    Teri

  5. When you mentioned “pony”, I was thinking about “my little pony” and I thought that’s cool, I didn’t know they are real Then I realise they are horses, which is even cooler, I’ve not seen one before.
When are you going for your full physical? The sound of it makes me jitter, I hope it will go as well as your appointment with the doctor

  6. Good to catch up with what’s happening with you, and nice to hear about all those positive things. I guess I’m lucky, this whole April thing (you know what I mean) is not really a thing round here, so as long as I don’t stray into the wrong areas of the internet, I can just ignore it and pretend it doesn’t happen.
I haven’t had a boob squish yet – wonder when I’m going to be summoned for the first one.
Oh, and you know that you are always welcome to comment on my blogs πŸ˜‰

    1. Oh no! Colic is awful. My older daughter, my first, of course, was soooo colicky. I used to leave her screaming in her crib and go outside and cry (very small house) after I’d tried everything to soothe her. My thoughts are with youπŸ€πŸŒ»πŸ’Œ

  8. So lovely to hear that Ben is doing well in school and many congratulations to your daughter and her partner on getting jobs – life will hopefully be less stressful for you all. The medical things us women have to go through don’t bear thinking about, but needs must! πŸ™‚
