It happens to me quite often, and I love it. It happened recently with a post by Ursula at An Upturned Soul. The post wasn’t specifically about mirrors, but thats the part my mind grabbed on to. This is part of the comment I left…

Those were some of the thoughts that were zipping and pinging around in my headspace. I started searching on the internet, reading, and saving links. I’ve fallen down the Rabbit Hole many times before.
This time I was going to Step Through The Looking Glass… join me…
I started with the album Tommy by The Who. I looked at the lyrics of some of the songs, I read about the album and the movie. I found an interesting tie back to Ursula’s post in a guru from India (she wrote about the yoga guy, Bikram, also from India) named Meher Baba. Pete Townshend was influenced by Meher Baba and part of the lyrics on Tommy and also the song Baba O’Riley were written about him.
I was thinking about the spirituality of Meher Baba and about being a kinder person and the Michael Jackson song Man In The Mirror started playing.
I typed mirror mirror on the wall into the ‘search’ area and the first entry was Disney’s Snow White. Not surprising. I read through the wiki on the Magic Mirror and then looked at the other results from the search.
I clicked on one link and my mind was blown. It was a site called The Mandela Effect, and it was about the phrase we all know, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is fairest of them all” or something similar, being wrong. What?!
I spent hours on that site, and came away with more questions than answers. I did find a few answers on another wiki site, RationalWiki, but there were still more questions than answers.
It was like a funhouse maze of mirrors.
I was back to where I started, stepping through the looking glass.
I decided that the best way to see out of the maze was to close my eyes… Yes, close my eyes. Sight can be very distracting, not to mention, unreliable.
What we see isnt always what is there. Also, everyone sees through the eyes of their unique experiences. Do mirrors reflect accurately? Do we use other people as ‘mirrors’? Can I see myself the way other people see me? Can I see myself?
Back to Ursula’s post and her question about which side of a police interrogation room mirror I would be on… I still dont have a good answer, just more questions.
The answers dont really matter. Its the quest for answers that I love.

Well stated! Overcoming the difficulties is it’s own reward.
A lot of Tommy is not only great music, but has deeper meaning. Or maybe I’m just using it as a ‘mirror’ to reflect my own thoughts 😉💌

It’s fascinating to follow a thread and see where it leads, what connections are made, what sights, sounds and stories come up along the way, what grabs the attention and stirs up inner sparks. It is a bit like taking a trip on a Disney ride, except it’s one of your own making rather than someone else’s, where everything reflects you back to you and vice versa.

I feel like it was another ‘test’s of sorts as well. That Mandela Effect really, really had me sidetracked for a while. I had never heard of it and I found myself surprised by a few of the shared ‘memories’. I could’ve gotten sucked a lot deeper into it, but I was able to bring myself back to the here and now. Yay me! Test passed.

‘Does the mirror reflect accurately?’ – It’s such a big question. What is accuracy, anyway? If you and I stand shoulder to shoulder and look into the same mirror do we see the same reflection?

Excellent post Angie, it reminded me of the line when they say that a person’s eyes are doorways into their soul, another journey through mirrors of sorts, twin mirroring effects – nicely done 🙂

Mirrors are tricksy things indeed. Rabbit Holes can sometimes be dangerous too it seems.🤔 You may be a Taurus, but you’re not the Minotaur. You dont have to stay in the maze😘💌

Such an interesting thought. I can see how you fell down the rabbit hole. I really like that idea you made – does the mirror reflect accurately? From what I see, what others see… such an interesting thought. Now I’ll be in the mirror rabbit hole, thinking about these ideas!

One thing that really fascinates me is that most animals don’t recognize themselves in a mirror. The guinea pigs are totally indifferent to what they see in a mirror.

Huh… the kitten was attacking his reflection the other day. I wonder if it’s in the way they see or how their brains process visual input or …or… or… that’s another Rabbit Hole right there.🤔 Thank you! I see another journey in my future.💃🏼

You’re right about Rabbit Holes leading to depression. I think that can happen to a lot of people. It can be dangerous for people with some mental illnesses to delve too deeply into some subjects.
I could have been sucked even deeper into some of the stuff, but I “closed my eyes”, turned away from it.
Right here, this moment, is where life is happening. It’s fun to take little side trips, but living my life is the most important journey💃🏼.
