It is that time of year again. It’s time to stuff the old year into a bag or box and shove it in the attic, the back of the closet, or the trash bin. It’s time to think about the bright, shiny new year just waiting for us with all it’s potential.
I was thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t usually make them. If I decide to do a thing, I do it…or not. People are talking about the end of the year, but that’s not all… it’s also the end of the decade, (Not really… yes, I understand… 2021…blah blah blah) so it’s a two-for.
Anyway, resolution… re solution… Wanna go on a mind journey with me? C’mon, let’s go!

We know what these words mean. They are simple words… resolution, re, solution, re-solution… I decided to do a search using ‘re-solution’ just to see what would come up.
There were a lot of sites about how to keep a New Year’s Resolution, popular resolutions, etc. Borrring… There were some sites mixed in about graphics, another definition of resolution. It seems that resolution and re-solution are the same thing… at least Google thinks they are.

Then I saw a movie named Resolution. Okay, cool… wait! Filmed in east county of San Diego? What?! That’s where I live. I looked at the IMDb site and read the movie description: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1977895/
After reading the description, I was all the way sold. I was pretty much sold just because of where it was filmed, but the description intrigued me. So, I paid $2.99 to rent it. I was committed but not committed enough to pay $15.00 to own it.
It’s very obviously an independent film. Low budget, with kind of a Blair Witch feel to it, then it gets weird. Weird people, weird things, weird occurances. I liked the movie. It’s worth a watch. It won’t blow you away or change your life, but how many movies really do that?
I can’t remember the exact phrasing of the last line of the movie but it was something like ” Wait, can we try this a different way?” A re-solution.

Nopes! Have stopped doing that a couple of years ( maybe longer) ago. Just goals! Small achievable ones. Works better for me.

For some reason my resolutions never stick but the changes have a better chance of lasting if I make them later in the year. Not thought about it this year yet. I guess the only one might be an idea I got from a great author blogger. Do something which takes you out of your comfort zone with your writing.

Great read. I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions either, but with recent events causing me to resign from my job, I’ve experienced some mental and emotional upset and a dint in my confidence. So I’m telling myself to stop worrying about what others think of me, trust in the choices I make, to relax, enjoy life and make the most of any opportunities that come my way. Here’s wishing you all the best for the New Year. 🙂

The nerds agree that 2020 is the new decade. We begin the first year at zero, and the first year is over upon the count of 1 where we then enter the second year… therefore, once we cross the mark and count 9 years completed, we are in the tenth year and the decade is over the moment we count ten full years.
Make a number line for visual proof.
We all agree that we are in (not completed) the 21st century after year 2000, so by extension we enter the 21st decade in year 20.
My 2019 is going in the bin, will just say that 🗓👉🗑
No resolutions here, either. Just on to the next thing. One day away a time.

Ha! It seems, like everything else these days, the nerds are divided.
Like any Pisces, or INFP, I can see the reasoning behind both ways. I dont personally care either way😂😂
2019 wasnt my worst year. Too many others competing for top spot. It wasnt my best year either, so I’m not sad to see it end.
As the eternal optimist, I hope 2020 is a good year. More compassion, kindness and understanding would be nice.

Well, the silent spell was partially by circumstance and partially an intentional decision considering a certain audience. I prepared an update post, so maybe now is good enough time to publish..
Things are slowly coming together, so this next year is at least kicking off on a good note.

What a fun journey! I am not one to make resolutions either, but I definitely have areas I need to work on – and will therefore try approaching them in this new year, looking for a new solution in a different way. I like that!

It was fun to actually track how one thought led to the next. Usually I just go from A to Z with maybe a nod to H or Q in between.
It was fun seeing the landscape of my area in a movie too.

If I do resolutions at all, which I usually don’t, I keep them to myself. The second you let someone else know that you trying to accomplish something, it becomes a commitment that they can check up on, and that’s too much pressure… 😉

Exactly! If you tell people and dont meet their expectations, they give you the ‘look’, then comes excuses and recriminations, doors slamming and tears and guilt and someone mentions that thing that happened that one time… Its much better to have a grand announcement that you’ve accomplished xyz goal!🎉🥂💃🏼

Yes! School tomorrow!! Thank goodness! It’s only been two weeks but it’s been a very looooonnnngggg two weeks.
The links are okay. I was mostly trying to show how my mind goes from one thing to another. I’m still disappointed that Google sees ‘resolution’ and ‘re-solution’ as the same word. To me, they’re different.
I got my reward at the end of the movie with the last line though. Plus it was fun to see the familiar landscape of the back country around where I live in a movie…even a low budget indie😉
And wear your good socks makes perfect sense!!

I love the fact that you put so much effort into looking up resolution and re-solution… Realizing that Ben was still home and making you go off the deep end to look all this up.
Regardless, no New Years Resolutions ever… I just set myself up for an epic fail if I do that. LOL! 👎🤦♀️😩
