Gratitude = Jewel?

After publishing my last post a song by Jewel came into my head. Not the song exactly, more like the idea of the song. I couldn’t even remember the name of it, so a-googling I went. The internet has its problems, but ya gotta love being able to type a few words and instantly scratch that need-for-information itch.

Anyway, here’s the song

Then, after grabbing the tissues to wipe my eyes and blow my nose, I watched my other favorites

in that order.

My gast has been completely flabbered by the fact that these songs are twenty plus years old. Tempus fugit, indeed.

I guess writing about gratitude made me think of small things, which led to the small things we each can do to make things around us better. Then my dustbin of a mind coughed up the Jewel song.

This part of the lyrics from Hands especially:

If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we’re all ok
And not to worry because worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
I will not be made useless
I won’t be idled with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear
.
My hands are small, I know,
But they’re not yours they are my own
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
.

None of us are broken, at least not beyond repair.

Are you a Jewel fan? Have you even heard any of these songs before? Are there songs that remind you of Gratitude?

  1. Those are great lyrics. I never really listened to Jewel unless I heard her songs on the radio or at Dr’s offices – Ill have to check these out, I’ve never heard of a couple of them.

    1. She was on the radio all the time for a while. She probably got more play around here since she was ‘discovered’ here.🤷🏼‍♀️
I read that she wrote a memoir, and the library had the e-book😮 I’m a few chapters in and really liking it.
I guess I needed some Jewel in my life🤷🏼‍♀️

    1. She was big in the mid-late 90s. I don’t know if she got much UK play. She was ‘discovered’ in the city by where I live so she was played a LOT here. I’m glad you liked it. It’s not Mongolian Metal, but what is?😉😂

        1. It’s been an up and down weekend with HRH. A lot of time spent on the edge, but luckily only one minor topple.
Sleep last night was crap. I was bummed cuz I was happy when I dozed off, but I had one of those ‘stuff from your day’ kinda dreams that was all jumbled. Then my ex showed up and wanted to debate and debate and debate… I got so irritated that I woke myself up to get away from him. 🙄 Took a while to doze back off and then I got Bounced.🤷🏼‍♀️

    1. I’m reading her Memoir, “Never Broken: songs are only half the story”, and OMG! so many of her thoughts, feelings and internal conflicts could have been written by me. Plus it’s fun to read about her hanging out in places in my city.

I love when circumstances put just the thing you need, at just the right time, right into your hands💃🏼

    1. She never made it as big in Europe/UK.
I just read her Memoir…she and I have a lot of the same ideas about spiritual living and healing. I’ve found a whole new interest in her.
I guess it started with my Really You post, so thank you to you for setting off the chain reaction.
