Hijacking Your Blog

This was originally posted about three years ago. Yes, it’s another re-run. I have lots of ideas, but I’m low on motivation. Ben’s sleep is all jacked up, which means my sleep is almost nonexistent. So, enjoy! It might be old, but the fundamental things apply…

I noticed something about myself the other day. I noticed that I write so much more in the comments section of other people’s blogs than I write posts here. I knew that I didn’t post very often but I hadn’t really thought about how much I was commenting. It’s a lot.

I think part of the reason I haven’t been posting much is that I don’t want to always complain. Life hasn’t been easy lately (or ever actually). My sleep has been bad which increases my pain. Ben has been having his own autism related things which adds overall stress to the house. Both daughters have had problems in their personal lives. Nothing is horrible but nothing is fantastic either. I just haven’t felt like any of it was worth posting about.

I follow several really great blogs written by fantastic people. They post more frequently and they post varied, interesting, well written things. Everything I read sparks my thoughts and makes me want to comment. Then, I’ll read some of the other comments left and want to comment on those. I’ve met some super awesome people here on WordPress. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging, unlike the other social media site I follow, which I won’t name (little blue bird).

So basically instead of posting “today was sucky cuz…life” here on my own blog, I go and hijack one (or several) of my friend’s blogs and write a bunch of stuff there. It’s like having little mini conversations with my group of friends. We check in with each other, offer different opinions, give or receive encouragement or share some laughs.

Maybe my thoughts will magically clear and a great idea for a post will come to me. Then I can host a “comments party” instead of always hijacking someone else’s blog.

Hey! I just wrote a post. Whaddya know…

  1. I notice I go in shifts. When I’m not posting for several days (or more!) I’m usually commenting and being more social on others posts, and vice versa When I’m actually putting thoughts together for posts, I don’t comment much….I’m up past my bedtime ๐Ÿ˜ด

    1. Me, too! I think you write just fine. And I’m finding it super cool to see crossover with bloggers I know! I “know” Sam DCC and a few others here. Be well. We can’t all write like crazy people daily. You do you.

    1. Thank you, Sadje๐ŸŒป The time I have when I won’t be interrupted every 2 minutes is going to short naps and reading.
Back when I wrote this post, I’d sometimes go a month without a post๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I’m working on weekly, at least.๐Ÿคž
It might be easier too if I wasn’t doing everything from my phone๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. Achieving anything when your running on empty is some achievement. You have so much on your plate. With that in mind, it means so so much to me when you find the time to read and comment on my rubbish. Thank you. x
Maybe we should start our own writing club. The dead tired poets society.

    1. That’s a great idea, and a name that made me laugh. I’m very sad to see you commenting at this hour๐Ÿ˜ข Another victim of the insomnia club๐Ÿ™
I hope you can get some rest๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด
And BTW, your posts are awesome! You have a mighty helping on your own plate. You find the humor, and keep putting one stumbley foot in front the other. We’ll make it, somehow…๐Ÿคž

  4. I totally get it Angie. Itโ€™s fun to read peopleโ€™s comments.
You have graciously left me comments after my posts. I truly appreciate you.

I havenโ€™t felt like writing either. Mostly because I only write when Iโ€™m inspired and I have been sticking close to home these days.

Hubby has been traveling a lot which bums me out, even though itโ€™s nice to not have to cook every night. And one son is unemployed again and the other may be needing another part time job soon to make ends meet.

Iโ€™m trying to stay in my hula hoop and mind my own business. After all, my kids are grown ass men. We shouldnโ€™t do for them what they can do for themselves.

Yet there are mental health challenges that have not been addressed which is why my oldest has a lot of job changes.

My fear is they end up back home. Ugh. I canโ€™t let that happen.
So I totally get why you love to comment on your friends blogs.
Itโ€™s a safe place to vent.
    Thank you WordPress.

Now. Letโ€™s both get some sleep!
    Teri

  5. I notice I do the same. I have gone a week or two without writing much and spend the time commenting on others blogs. I try for two posts a week and it really gets me down when I can’t get the ideas out – either because my own mood is bringing me down or the schedule is too nuts. I love your comments, just so you know. You are like my sounding board so don’t even feel like you are hijacking mine – I love it!

  6. I always enjoy your comments and am very grateful for them. I don’t get many as I’m a terribly irregular poster and commenter myself. Really hope you get the chance of some proper sleep soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you!๐ŸŒป About twice, maybe three times a month I sleep for three or four hours in a row๐Ÿ˜ฏ That’s about the best I can hope for, even with the sleeping meds I take. Fibromyalgia and chronic insomnia suck. Add in Ben and his sleeping issues… ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

  7. Sorry to hear you are so low Grandma, l can relate to the sleep issue because of Suze’s poor sleep, if it makes you feel any better that Tee shirt and some new pens should [hopefully] be arriving soon. I emailed you not long back – you are always in my thoughts also ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I’ve had a bit of a dry spell as well on my own blog, considering the number of re-posts that I’ve done lately. (Although I’m sure many of them are still “new” to you.) My writing inspiration is fine, as I’ve been banging away on my next book, but I’ve just not been focused on new material for the blog. I run in cycles. Before too long, I’ll be doing fresh posts every day and completely ignoring my books.

As for the comments, I LOVE IT when I see your name in the thread, because I know it’s going to be something interesting and clever. And I understand the urge to pontificate and share on other blogs, as I fight it constantly. I have to force myself to be brief (or not even comment at all) or I would never get anything else done… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Awww… thank you!๐Ÿ˜Š I do try for clever and hope it brings a smile. Or maybe I just like to pontificate (such a cool word)๐Ÿค”
I have written three paragraphs before in comments, and deleted it because I hadn’t made whatever rambling point yet.๐Ÿ™„

    1. I do get tired of the same old thing. I have a few ideas, but not enough time for ‘creating a post’. Plus, I always appreciate comments, so I figure everyone else does too๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Thank you for taking the time to add yours๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒป
