If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Blah, blah, blah… Bounce! Yadda, yadda, yadda… sniff, tablet…
Daughter got home from work at the usual time. She said that a co-worker had brought two more boxes of Ben’s “orange chicken”, that the store in her part of the county had lots. Now we have 8 boxes of “orange chicken”, we are totally set for food. It’s a nice reminder that people are kind and when we ask for help, someone will help.
I am blessed! I’ve had horrible things happen in my past, sure…and daily life isn’t a picnic, but I am content, mostly happy, and blessed to have awesome people around me. I kinda feel like the balance has been tipped too far in my favor and I want to share my good fortune, pay it forward. Let me know if there’s something you need or want that I can help with. Seriously!
8:00AM “Gramma come living room!” …sigh. Ben was VERY wiggly jiggly this morning and I was feeling a bit irritated. Daughter had tried to take him into her room, and he went. It lasted all of five minutes. So I settled on the couch with Zeus once more in the coveted spot.
Ben played with his chalk and wanted me to script with him. He was mumbly and I was irritable so it didn’t go well. I am NOT a saint. I do get tired of saying the same thing 15-20+ times in a row. I tried to be nice about it, but I think he could tell I wasn’t as cheerful as normal. We all have off days.
Daughter had a phone meeting with his med doctor at 9:15AM. After it was over, she came to tell me what was said. Basically it’s just keep on keeping on. No changes in the middle of the Big Change. Doctor is mailing a refill prescription for his Adderall. Daughter went to bed to sleep after the report.
The rest of the morning went as normal. Poor Sven goes in the tub for at least 30 minutes every day, but he isn’t shedding any faster. He’s not a very happy Dragon.

Around 1:30PM Younger Daughter called me to ask to borrow my car. She said she wanted to go to Urgent Care to get cleared to go back to work, that her partner was guilt tripping her about not working. (Her work told her to stay home, paid, for a week after she had the regular Kooties, just to be safe.) I told her I didn’t think any place would see her, but she wanted try. I’m not using the car anyway, I told her to come get it.
Older Daughter got up and tagged me out. I gave my report and told her about her sister taking the car. She was very upset at the idea of Younger going to Urgent Care and exposing herself to kooties just because her partner was being a jerk. My girls don’t get along, but they do love each other. Older texted Younger and told her not to do it. Younger called me a little while later and told me it would cost her $139.00 to be seen. RIDICULOUS! That’s how it is when you don’t have health insurance.
Ben and Zeus followed me into my room where I went to lay down. Older came in 15 minutes later to tell me she was ordering food from the local burger joint and would I please, please, please walk over and pick it up? Yes, yes… of course…
I tried to sneak out of the house because it was getting to be the time when Ben goes into hyper overdrive every evening, but that didn’t work out. Daughter was starving, I guess, cuz she came to my door to remind me to get the food. I probably snapped at her, but dang…
Ben and Zeus followed me to the front door and both tried to follow me out. Luckily, there was a package waiting on the doorstep. I handed it to Ben (it was a police car, ambulance & fire truck set I had ordered), told Zeus to Git and walked down to get the food.
Ben’s manic hyperactivity was really irritating me all day! He was mellow-ish in the late morning, but he just pinballs his body all over the place. We have a weighted blanket for him but he doesn’t like it. I’ve tried pressure and squishing him too. Some days are just harder than others, and some days I’m more tired and irritable and have less patience.
More lightbars were requested for more broken cars, so I got the tape and markers and did milord’s will. He looked over my shoulder to ‘supervise’. (Can you guys tell how often I want to put the ‘eye roll’ emoji into these daily posts?)
Finally it was time for dinner, (“orange chicken” tonight) meds and bath. The countdown to bedtime was underway. I was SO ready for him to go to bed! Daughter is off work tonight and tomorrow night, so hopefully I’ll get a little bit of a break. I’m not going to be holding my breath waiting for that miracle. I’ve been extremely fortunate this past week and an off day isn’t going to make me forget that. The manager of the corner market called me from the grocery store to see if I needed her to pick up anything. No, I’m not going to forget how lucky I am.
Stay healthy, physically and mentally! Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you (I really mean that) and stay tuned…
(I’m thinking of finding a different picture for days 8-14, and another for 15-21… hopefully it wont go longer than that, but we all know it might. What do you think? New picture each week, or keep the same?)
This one is good. Makes a statement.

Thank you, Sadje🌻 I didn’t really think about it that way, it was just my day, but you’re right. It’s important to remember all the good things, especially when we’re having a not so good day!

It’s okay to have off days and to get frustrated. We’re human! There are times that I snap and can think “Wow, that was an extreme reaction” but things build and have to go somewhere. And these are weird times. I think you’re doing great considering your health and all that you do for your family. Great job! Keep on keeping on!

Thanks Robyn!🌻 I know I’m only human and can only do so much… those childhood feelings of never being good enough are hard to completely banish. Especially when I’m tired…more tired than usual I should say🙄😂😂

I have a thing for re-using photos, even for unrelated stories, so I’d say stick with this one and keep the theme going…

Thanks, Brian! I was wondering if people were getting sick of looking at Zeus😂

I love the ‘big dumb dog’ pic, Zeus is a beautiful boy. Three thumbs up 😉 to keeping your banner. You might wish to include the dragon now and again. That was a really interesting photo too! 🙂

Thank you for voting, Melanie! You and Brian both vote to keep Zeus, so he shall stay.
Poor Sven and his unshedded back…😂😂

Orange chicken is a family favorite when we order Chinese food. Sounds good right now.
With my husband working from home I feel like I’m in the kitchen non stop either preparing food or cleaning up. Trying to get out and walk more since we are eating more.
Glad you are all staying healthy.

Ben’s “orange chicken” is just TGIFriday’s boneless nuggets without the BBQ or Buffalo sauce. He calls it Orange chicken because the breading is oranges. He wouldn’t eat real, yummy Orange Chicken because of the sauce. He doesnt like sauces, or creamy things, or mushy things. Very texture sensitive.
You deserve a break from the kitchen. Order delivery. All the postmates, grubhub etc drivers need work too. (That’s what we tell ourselves😉😂)
