If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
I was so tired last night that I just konked out. I had made some food and was waiting for it to cool off and then it was 12:30am. Wha the??? My sleeping pills were still sitting on the nightstand, so I put them in the drawer. No need. And I was back out. I woke up several more times but my body said Nope! and I was out again.
I got Bounced a little after 4:00 but he got back up and ran off. I assumed he was going to the bathroom. Then I heard him beating on the front door, trying to kick the lock loose. I FLEW out of bed. I asked him why he was kicking the door? He said “Good morning, Gramma.” Okay??? I asked if he wanted the TV on? He said “Okay”. Well, okay then…
I got Avatar playing and put it on repeat. He said “Gramma come living room.” Since I was standing right there, I assumed he wanted me to park my butt on the couch. I went and got his tablet for him and parked my butt.
He was amped up and pacing and the sun wasn’t even up. I just hoped I could make it til 6:30 when I could “dope his face”. He paced, sat down. Jumped up and paced some more. He ran to his room and got dressed. Jeans, socks, hard sole shoes, jacket and tie…all of it. He ran back into the living room yelling “Surprise!” and then he paced some more. He tried to sit next to me, but he was too jittery, and sweating in all those clothes. Trying to get him to take them off would be a fight I didn’t want to have before I’d even used the bathroom (I was afraid he’d kick the front door open and take off) or had coffee.
At 6:15 he ran into Daughter’s room, turned the light on and yelled “Barber Chair!” Why, you ask?
See, Ben gets fixated on things… I may have mentioned this before. He got fixated on Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter and wanted to watch all the movies they were in together. One of those movies was Sweeney Todd. Then he became fixated on the chair with the gears and the stomp lever that drops people to the basement. He wants to dress up, sing “Joanna”, do the whole thing… he has been trying to (make me) make a working “Barber Chair” for years. The latest creation is a set of steps (for reaching high places, ya know…) with some books covered in paper bags (like we did our school books back in the day) taped together so they form a slide when he wants them to.
Anyway, he wanted his “Barber Chair” moved from Daughter’s room to the living room, and he certainly wasn’t going to do it himself. Why would he keep a peasant if not for menial labor?! So I moved the dang thing. By then it was time for his meds (Flying Spaghetti Monster be praised) so I “doped his face”.
Daughter wandered out about 20 minutes later to take over Couch Sitting. Ben and Zeus were in my room before I even got up. Sigh…
Ben stayed with me until 7:30, gradually settling down as the meds started to do their thing. After a bag of Doritos (I offered cereal, ritz crackers and PB toast…Nope!) and a couple juices he took his tablet and went to play with his chalk. I think making the patterns soothes him.
After he was settled I figured I might as well start laundry. I grabbed my basket and Ben’s and lugged them around the house. I didn’t want to chance going through the window with Ben being so amped this morning. Daughter asked me why I was starting so early, I said “Why not?”
I laid on my bed and read posts, emails, articles, etc and started to doze. I woke myself with one of those “falling” twitches and dropped my phone onto the tin with my chocolate stash, which BONGED loudly. Okay, okay… no dozing… okay. Sheesh!
Around 9:30 Ben decided to come back to my room. He watched his tablet with earbuds in. If it weren’t for the noise of the AC, it would’ve been peaceful and quiet. That’s another thing I hate about hot weather, the noise of fans and window AC units. It builds up in my head until I want to scream. Sometimes I prefer to be sweat drenched than listen to the noise.
Sven time… Yes, he got another quick shower. He was dark and grumpy looking, I wanted to make him more yellow. Plus, I wanted to show you his 3rd Eye. See if you can see it on top of his head.
Do you see it, it looks like he’s missing a scale, right in the center on top if his head…
Another picture with his 3rd Eye circled… also, chow… strawberries today. Nom Nom!
I pretty much just hung out in my room the rest of the morning and early afternoon. It was weird and I couldn’t relax. After the way the day started, I was ready for trouble. Figures, right?! I get uninterrupted time and I dont know what to do with it.
Around 2:00 Daughter put her load of clothes in the wash, and went to her room. My turn to hold the couch down. Ben was still playing with his chalk and watching his tablet.
3:30 and Daughter’s devices have more charge and she’s tagging me out again so I can take the clothes to the dryer. I went around the house to get her clothes and I happened to glance up at my wild pecan tree and noticed the catkins, or male flowers. Pretty cool
I didn’t notice them last year. Shows how observant I am.
Got the clothes from the dryer (it was 95F in my car at 4:15…ridiculous!) brought them home, folded and put them away.
I have to go out to the grocery store after Ben and Daughter are in bed. I hate waiting to run errands after a full day, but it’s better to avoid coming home with bags of stuff when Ben is up and about. He will inspect the bags for toys and depending on his mood, go off if there isnt one or not a good one. It will be cooler later too. There’s that.
Dinner time has arrived. Steak for Ben tonight. Countdown to bedtime has begun. Another day at Casa Cuckoo winding down… Thanks for stopping by. Thank you for all the support you’ve given me throughout this series. I’m pretty amazed that I’m still doing it, over a month later. I hope that you get some giggles from the madness. I spend a lot of time laughing.
Every day is the same, but it’s different too. I never know what’s going to happen. I’ll see you all tomorrow. Take care of yourselves, let me know if I can help in any way. We’ll get through this, we ARE getting through this, with help from our friends.
You know the song
