If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
4:30 Bounce but he didn’t get under the blankets. He came in carrying his vest, tie and jacket along with his tablet. I said good morning, he said “I need help.” I got the tie on and the vest buttoned and helped with the jacket. He ran off to his room for jeans, sock and those dang hard soled shoes. Fully dressed he came into my room, looked at himself in the mirror and said “Gramma. Come. Living room. Please.” Sigh…
I found him in the bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror saying “I Sweeney Todd Ben.” I said “Okay Sweeney Todd Ben, hurry up and go pee if you’re going to because Grandma needs to use the bathroom.” He posed some more. I said “Ben. Go pee.” Ahhh, simple direct commands… I don’t know if its age (52… doesnt seem old) or the result of childbirth or both, but my bladder is not as strong as it used to be. My warantee has definitely expired.
I checked the Weather Guessers site. With all those clothes on, Ben’s gonna get warm. Oh, swell
Looked like I better close up the house and turn on the AC. Dang!
Daughter got a ride home with her coworker, but they stopped by McDonald’s. Apparently the Golden Arches is giving away free meals to “First Responders”, so all she had to do was show her badge. Nice! She do love her junk food! Her hand is still puffy and red but it is slowly getting better. She was on the Sub-Acute unit last night. Only 15 patients, so it was easier.
She told Ben to come hang out in her room, so he followed. I went back to my room. Sven was already in his Judgey Corner
I’ll bet he’s gonna be VERY unhappy when we reconvene in the living room. Meh… I’ll just put him in the shower. Fix his grumpy face with warm water.
My return to Horizontal Time didn’t last long. At 8:00 Ben came down the hall, stopped in my doorway and commanded “Gramma come living room now!” Aw, dang! Back to couch sittin’ I went. Sven was still in the Judgey Corner, giving me The Stare.
By 9:30 I’d had enough of Mr Judgey Dragon so I put him in the shower
Then it was time for nom noms… arugula with strawberries and blueberries. At first he seemed so happy
But that changed back to The Stare
He didn’t even eat.
Soon it was 10:30 and time for Ben’s meds. We’d been hanging out on the couch with him occasionally making me fetch something or draw something or tape something. Just chillin.
Around 11:00 I glanced up at Sven’s terrarium… he was STILL staring at me
Noon and Adderall for Ben. I glanced up at Sven and he was on his rock with his back to me. Seriously? I got up to talk to him and noticed…
the 4 little blueberries were gone. I guess that’s why I’m seeing his back. No grasshopper and only 4 little itty bitty blueberries… poor Sven.
At 1:30 Daughter came and took over Living Room Duty. I had been asking Ben if he wanted to go lay down in Grandma’s room for the past 45 minutes. He would say “Not right now.”
When Daughter came out she asked if he wanted to go to her room or stay in the living room? He said “Mommy go Mommy’s room” Aww… I told him my back hurt, I needed to lay down. When I went to my room, he followed. Zeus waited until I was comfortably settled before he started yipping and whining to be let out. It drives me crazy how he waits to make sure I’m not going anywhere or doing anything before he’ll go out. And I can’t stand at the door waiting for him… oh no! I have to go sit back down before he’ll actually go out the door. He’s afraid he’ll be locked out, though that’s never happened here. Big. Dumb. Dog.
If the weather is nice enough we just leave the door open, but it was oven hot out there at 1:45-2:00. Plus the door is on the west side of the house and right outside my bedroom. I don’t need the hot air or the afternoon sun baking my bedroom, the only room without a ceiling fan or window AC.
At 2:15 I went and got Ben’s 2:00 meds. Daughter had spaced it. I don’t know how she got up at 1:30 and spaced his meds a half hour later. He spent the next 45 minutes beating up and slicing at cardboard boxes. It was a way to burn off the energy, and it was an acceptable, appropriate way.
Ben spent the rest of the afternoon going back and forth between my room and the living room. Sometimes watching his tablet, sometimes beating up boxes, just playing. Zeus laid on the bed next to me, snoring.
After Ben and Daughter go to bed, I have to Mask Up and go to the pharmacy/grocery store. Ben has prescriptions to fill and so do I. I’ll probably do some grocery shopping while I’m there. Might as well, right?
Another calm day at Casa Cuckoo. There’s not as much excitement to read about, but they’re much nicer to live through. Thanks for hanging out and chillin’ with us. Come on back tomorrow, things change quickly around here and you never know what’s going to happen.
I’ll leave you with another song. Unrelated to anything except I liked the original and I like this remake.
Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day does a remake of a song every Monday from his home studio. Yesterday was an 80s favorite
