If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Things were okay-ish after we parted last night. We got through the rest of the evening without major incidents and Ben and Daughter went to bed.
I laid down to relax a little and wait for the colors of sunset. That’s when I got hit by the Unconsciousness Express Train. I didn’t even see it coming.
And then it was 9:51pm! I had a little Freak Out! Daughter is usually awake at 9:45 for work. I jumped up, almost fell over, and went to see if she was awake. Her lights were on and I heard her coughing (her Kootie test was NEGATIVE) so I relaxed a little. Then I remembered things I was gonna do while she and Ben were sleeping and I started crying.
She met me in the living room. I was turning Sven’s lights off and covering him up… poor Sven, so late… and blubbering. She told me I was silly, everything was fine, obviously I needed the rest. I saw her safely to work then straightened up the kitchen. All the stuff from the Pizza Hut delivery was still sitting out. I took my sleeping pill and got ready for bed.
I was commenting on a blog (sorry for the late send, Gary) when the switch flipped to OFF again. Then Zeus was sniffing my ear and I could hear Ben drinking the juice I always leave out. I looked at the time… 11:58pm. I looked again but it didnt change. I told Ben to get under the blankets with me, I had no intention of getting up. He said “Gramma come living room.” three times before I gave up on him going back to sleep and got up. I was on the couch at 12:35am, and there I stayed until Daughter got home.
I got Ben to lay down, covered him up, made sure he had juice and snacks close by, turned off the lights and told him to try to rest or watch his tablet… it was too early to be up. I laid down too and dozed. I did more than doze, that dang Train clipped me again!
At 2:00 Ben woke me up by pounding on my shoulder and saying “Excuse me. Gramma? Write the words.” Double Dang!! He had turned on several lights and dumped a bag of words on the couch in front of him. I sat up and started doing as commanded. It was Arts and Crafts Time for the next few hours.
At 6:30 the alarm reminded me to do meds and uncover Sven (maybe I should set one for the evening in case that Train is still around). Face doped, I uncovered Mr Grumpy
and found him standing in his food. Alrighty then. He’d probably been wondering about all the noise all night.
Daughter texted and arrived at the usual times. I asked how her last night was. I guess THE coworker pretty much stayed away and they didn’t talk during the entire shift. They met in the parking lot after shift, hugged and the coworker asked when Daughter started at the new job. The coworker said they’d get together when things opened up more. They hugged again and Daughter came home.
I told her about my night. She told Ben to go get in Mommy’s bed. He was looking pretty tired, but he got up, grabbed his chalk and went. I got the tablet and charger and took that to him. Then I went to pick up all the words and straighten up. Empty juice pouches to throw away, blankets to fold and put away… fix stuff. I also switched on the AC, it’s supposed to be 95 (35 C) today. After everything was done, I laid down.
At 10:30 the med alarm woke me up. It was quiet in the house, everyone was asleep. I got myself coherent enough to get Ben’s meds ready and went to Daughter’s room to wake him up. I didn’t want to, but I also didn’t want his schedule too messed up.
I got him up, got his chalk and the tablet and met him in the living room. I gave him his meds and found Sven in the Judgey Corner.
Life at Casa Cuckoo continued as usual.
He sat with me on the couch, occasionally having me write words or open juices. Just hanging out. Sven Judged us, even after I got him a fresh plate of food WITH a grasshopper

The half Adderall was given at noon and the 2:00 meds were given at 2:00. Sven continued to sit in the Judgey Corner, staring.
Daughter came to take over right after I gave Ben the 2:00 meds. I gave my report and went to Horizontal Time. (I still hear “Sweet Caroline” when I type that) Ben stayed in the living room with Daughter and I started trying to catch up on today’s reading.
Around 3:00 Ben was yelling “Help! Help!” from the living room. Daughter asked what he needed, what was wrong? Ben said “Talk to Gramma. Gramma, Help!” Oy! I yelled that I was coming and went to see what was required of this peasant now. He wanted me to “help” him up from the floor. Then he followed me to my room. I asked where his tablet was? He said “Gramma to get it.” Ugh, Fine! I got the tablet and he laid back and watched it. I continued through my Reader, until I felt the bed moving as he rolled over. He was trying to go back to sleep the little stinker. 7:30am naps are acceptable, 3:30pm naps… not so much. I woke him up with some kisses and tickles. That got the Big Dumb Dog barking. After that, Ben pretended to sleep so I’d “get” him some more. He likes to make Zeus bark. Daughter threatened ice if he fell asleep again. I told Ben that Mom was gonna put ice on his neck if he didn’t wake up. He “snored”, so Daughter came with ice and rubbed it on his back. He didn’t like that all. She gave the ice to Zeus to eat. Yes, the Big Dummy likes to eat ice.
It’s getting to be about that time. Dinner, bath and bed are within view. Daughter has a week off before she starts her new job and that will take some of the stress off of me. The sleep related stress anyway. Let’s dance to celebrate making through another day, and just for the joy of it!
Thank you for hanging out on this very, very long day. Except for being up all night, it was a good day. I hope to see you tomorrow, after sunrise is fine. I’ll have the coffee ready, I’ll even write some words for you.

Thank you!๐คฃ๐คฃ I don’t mind the writing (I use my Coffee scented Snifty Pen from JB๐)… it’s the writing of the same thing over & over. Or the thinking we’re done, so I start doing something, only to be interrupted… “Gramma?”๐คฏ๐ก๐คฆโโ๏ธ
See ya in the morningโ๐ค๐ฅฐ

So the key is to never start doing anything, just in case ๐๐. One day itโs all going to pay off when warner brothers comes calling for a writer, and You know All the words and youโre a set designer! ๐ฅฐ๐

On the couch at 12:35am? No. Just, no. Of course, I’m always awake at that time, since I rarely go to bed before 3 or 4 am. (I don’t even try to slumber before then. My night-owl instincts won’t allow it.) On the flip side, I’m usually able to sleep until mid-morning. You are a saint, mi lady. A saint!

Thank you kind sir, but aren’t saints usually martyred? Then there’s all the people making pilgrimages… nah… I’ll just be Angie, tired Gramma Dude๐๐๐

Oh my, what a sleepless day! I hope you get some rest. Ben sounded super cute when he was playing with you guys pretending to still be asleep to get some more tickles and kisses. How sweet! And wow, that sounds like it was a hot day. I hope it cools off, that you got a nice rest and have a chill day today!

Thanks, Robyn! He really is a sweet little charmer and he cracks me up a lot. He’s done remarkably well during this whole thing. We’ve had very few “bad” days, and those are just part of autism. Part of life in general really.
It’s supposed to be 95 again today. Thank goodness for AC! Until we get the bill๐ฑ๐ธ๐๐

Well that sounds like a pretty nice day – apart from the beyond early start! Hope you get to catch up on some rest while your daughter is off work.

Yeah… the wake ups are what they are… part of Ben. I like mellow days when nothing much happens. We have very few of them.๐ Something is always happening…๐ I really couldn’t make the stuff up. Casa Cuckoo is aptly named๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐คฃ๐ค๐ฅฐ
