If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Ben stayed awake and stayed grumpy. We stuck to the schedule and he was in the bathtub when Younger came over with Partner and Kris the Corn Snake. Older did the injection, Younger took over getting Ben ready for bed and I took Older Daughter to work.
Zeus wouldn’t go to bedtime for Younger (Zeus has been terribly naughty lately), but that was okay because I needed to give him a cheeseball with Benadryl inside. I was hoping to knock him out, or at least chill him out so he didn’t FREAK out when the fireworks started. He doesn’t run and hide, he runs around like a SpazmaTaz barking and barking and barking. He ate his cheeseball and went to Ben’s room. He wasn’t happy about it, but he went.
I thanked Daughter and Partner, hugs, “Love you!”s and I locked up behind them. Then it was time to breathe… and wait for sunset.
Still no clouds. There won’t be any for a few days, not with the heat the Guessers are predicting. I kept looking for the moon. It was later coming up and it was low.

And my phone camera isn’t the greatest.
There were a few idjits setting off fireworks and Zeus growled a few times but I thought we might make it through this year. HA! Yeah, no! He did okay with the show the City did, that was a couple miles away, but after the show, the idjits started again. Zeus was barking and scratching at Ben’s door so much I was afraid he was going to wake Ben up, so I let him out. The idjits didn’t stop til near midnight and the Big Dumb Naughty Dog wouldn’t go back to Ben’s room. I had to get very stern with him and it took several times of me telling him it was bedtime before he went. On top of that, once the idjits stopped their noise, I could hear the homeless guy hacking out his lungs again. Oh joy!
I took my pill and went to sleep sometime between 12:30 and 1:00… I’m guessing.
Ben did a yelling run-by again at 5:15am. I guess that’s HIS new thing. I got my stuff and relocated. Zeus was draggin’ this morning. Gee… I wonder why?! Ben was scripting angry words this morning. I don’t know if he had nightmares or if it was stuff left over from yesterday, but I didn’t like it. I didn’t let him know how I felt. That would’ve made things worse.
6:45 meds and Sven.

I feel ya, Sven! When it was time to go get Daughter, Ben ran to his room to get some of his kitties. I told him to only bring what HE could carry. Then he had to look around for something else to bring, and settled on one of his Big Ben Clocks. I had to carry his water bottle and his tablet, although why he brings his tablet, I don’t know… my car isn’t a mobile hot spot.
We got Daughter and came home to the whining wiggle jiggle. I stopped and greeted him but he kept up with the nonsense, so I ignored him til he calmed down. I turned the AC on, I could tell it was going to be a scorching hot day. The sun was hot and the sky was cloudless. Summer had officially arrived.
Daughter went straight to her room, Ben and I settled on the couch. He played with his gears, had me draw the moon, make the clouds, draw Ben fishing and watched his tablet until 10:00 or so, then he went to the chalk area and was playing with the dominoes… the set ’em up and knock ’em down kind.
At 10:45 I gave him his pill and refilled water bottle. He took the pill and came back to the couch. I was then commanded to fetch a bag of cheeto poofs, which of course, I did. He snacked, surfed, goofed off, paced… basically did Ben Stuff.
Noon med given and more Ben Stuff… 12:30 was time for another snack break, the rest of the bag of cheeto poofs I had fetched earlier and a Sprite. I drank coffee, tried to stay awake. My back was unhappy so I took 30mg of morphine. (After decades, I have a ridiculously high tolerance for opiates) Ben moved on to doing the chalk thang while singing Let’s Go Fly A Kite and making Happy Noises.
The 2:30 med alarm brought me out of a doze that was teetering on the brink of sleep. My back was screaming and my brain was foggy. I managed to get Ben’s meds ready and dope his face. Then I tried to find a more comfortable position on the couch… without success. Thank goodness Daughter got up and came to take over at 2:45. I gave my report and went to lay down on my bed. Horizontal Time!
I actually konked out for an hour. I could hear Ben singing in the bed next to me, but my body hit the override on my brain. Ben stopped singing when I woke up. He was so quiet I had to make sure he hadn’t dozed off.
We’re heading into the final hour or so until bedtime. No Driving Miss Daisy tonight (no fireworks either)… just relaxing.
Thanks for hanging out with us today. It was a pretty good day. A long, hot day… but pretty good with Ben. Come on by tomorrow, Daughter will be awake and who knows if she and Ben will be nice to each other or not. I need to go to the pharmacy tomorrow to get all of Ben’s meds and all of my meds. That should be fun, right? See ya tomorrow.

How long does Kris get injections? Is he pretty chill about it? Your camera phone did a great job with the moon! I hope itโs a good night for everyone aka….sleep ๐ดโจ๐

I think Kris gets 2 more. There were 10 total, to be given every 3 days. Weird, huh?
I’m glad you like my full moon๐ฒ๐๐๐

Good thing you werenโt around here because there were about 4 solid hours of fireworks. Thunder and big booms too. Thatโs not counting random blasts before and after. It made me so mad I wrote a Monday Peeve about it ๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก
At least itโs nice today. Hope you get some good ๐ค

A lot of the cities down here cancelled but there’s a lot of “red” in my part of the county so… fireworks๐ก I’m gonna have to get something stronger than Benadryl for Zeus.
Looking forward to your Peeve! Hopefully we both get ๐ค๐ค๐ค I see you on line late tooโน

Yeah, I was worried with the way he woke up that he would be grumpy all day, but it was a pretty peaceful day.

Back pain is the worst. It can be debilitating. When I was way younger I tried to prove to Bob I could still do the monkey bars. And as I was swinging my body from one rung to the next, something slipped in my back and I required days of horizontal time. (That was when monkey bars got crossed off the list of things I can still do ๐ ). Then I had pregnancies, and I swear Catelyn sat right on my bad disc for 9 months. A wrong twist mopping here, a turn in the front seat there – and boom, I was out for days. An MRI showed an issue with the disc in question. But then I lost a lot of weight and my back has been better for it. Now, the muscles will get angry from a bad sleeping position or overuse, but it is nothing like it was before. I can still move. I hope your back is feeling better soon! It also sounds like an overall good day. I hope you guys have a great one today!

My back and my neck will twitch or spasm if I move wrong… not even wrong, just move, ya know. Yesterday was just from sitting in the same place all day. Not that Ben didnt have me up and down but he’s as clingy as Zeus lately. Has to have me right there with him.
So far so good today…lots of Happy Noises๐

Back pain is the worst. Only thing that works for me is lying on a hot water bottle. Look after yourself xx

The morphine and laying down helped a lot! The Fibromyalgia seems to make any position except horizontal painful after a while.
And we’re getting olderโน our bodies are, at least. Maybe not the minds so much๐๐๐

Oh no! Back pain. Good thing you have your meds for that.
Do you have a snack cabinet that Ben can access himself, or is supposed to ask before he eats? How is his appetite? He seems like a good eater.
Andrew was extremely picky when he was young and eventually his tastes changed a little when he got into Middle School. In High School, he ate a bigger variety of foods. Casseroles and soups became more interesting to him. Thank Goodness. It was a real pain to find foods he liked when he was young and I would feed him cereal some nights just to get him to eat something.
Now he has a HUGE appetite. I think he only eats two meals a day since the rest of the time he is on the computer gaming. He doesn’t live at home, so I don’t keep track. As long as he is happy, that is all that matters.
Hugs

Ben has access to food all day. He grazes…eats something here, something else there… his only set meal is at night and Daughter makes one of his 4 acceptable dinners. At school they let the kids eat when they want to also… I think it’s better to let their stomachs tell them when to eat.
Sometimes I have to put food in front of him because he doesn’t realize he’s hungry. I always try for the healthiest of the crackers and stuff but he usually wants chips or a candy bar… typical kid๐๐

Glad it was a pretty relaxed day despite the heat!

It was nice. The relaxed days are getting a little more common as we settle into the new routine.๐

Back pain can be terrible. I have a really long torso (most of my height is in my upper half, not my legs, as with most folks), so I rarely fit comfortably in chairs or at desks, even though that’s where I spend most of my day, hunched over. So my back is always contorted and I have terrible posture.(And I can’t sit very long in one position, constantly getting up to relieve the strain.) I do have little pills to take, natch, but I would much rather not have to deal with that mess at all.
Whoops, I just made another comment all about me. My bad….

It’s all good๐ I get tired of talking about myself, I’d much rather talk about you.๐๐๐
My ex had a long body too. We looked so weird standing side by side. Him with his 32″ pants & me with my 38″ pants… I’m ALL legs๐ My waist would be at his mid chest. He was about half an inch shorter than me… just weird.
