Part 128 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

As I wrote yesterday, I skipped sunset. I laid in bed and veg’d mostly. I did see the pretty moon setting into fluffy clouds through my open bedroom, and the open side doors. I did my Night Things, took my pill around 10:30, and konked out.

This morning’s wake up was at 4:15am. Ben and I were settled on the couch when Daughter came out at 4:30, used the bathroom, then stood over me, not saying anything. Alrighty then… I got up, grabbed my stuff and went to my room.

Just before 6:00 Ben Bounced me, then ran outside. I heard him messing around with the stuff blocking the gate, so I got up and ran outside. He had a toy sword and was “fighting” stuff and knocking it over. I put the gate stuff back and told him we needed to leave it there so people (like homeless dude) can’t come in. He moved on to the lights hanging from the deck. I told him that was okay (not really, but better than the gate stuff). He was ramped up and full of energy. ADHD morning crack out! Thank goodness we have a back yard he can run around in. He settled down a little bit and played in his dirt hole.

He wandered in and went back out a few times. Then he Bounced me again and asked for my tablet. After Daughter gave his morning meds she asked if he wanted to go hang out in her room. She was eventually able to talk him into it, and around 7am they went to Daughter’s room.

Just before 8:00 Ben did a yelling run-by, commanding me to relocate. I’d been expecting it. I moved myself and my stuff. I realized that Daughter hadn’t uncovered Sven before they went to her room, so I fixed that.

A Clint Eastwood Glare…

Since I was still up, I picked up all the dominoes Ben had left laying on the floor. I asked if he wanted me to open his new chalk (the eight cellophane-wrapped sets that came in the BIG box) he said Yes, so I opened those too. Once he saw a neat and tidy work space and new chalk (sixty-four pieces!) he immediately went and sat down and dumped the new and the old, then began to do his thang.

Daughter came out to the living room at 8:45 and sent me back to my room. Okay with me. Daughter said she wanted to cook bacon for Ben… whatever, I just do what I’m told to do. I went to my room and got Horizontal.

I mostly did stuff on my phone. Sent an email, did some WP stuff, played a game… relaxing stuff. I was writing an email… was getting ready to end it, mentioning that I might close my eyes for a little while… and that’s what happened… a “long blink” with my finger poised over the backspace button, of course, so everything got erased. Dang it! I rewrote the important parts. The second attempt was better, I’m sure, without all the rambling I often do.

Ben joined me around 12:15 with a bag of poofs. He laid on the bed next to me, surfed YouTube on my tablet (I haven’t messed with it on his again… one of these days…) and munched. When he finished eating he left again. Oh-kaaaay…?

Daughter went to lay down around 12:45 and I was back on Living Room Duty per Royal Decree by 1:00. Except for a couple of very short breaks, Ben spent the entire time playing with his chalk.

Around 3:30 I got a call from Younger asking if I could pick her up, RIGHT NOW? I told her that her sister was sleeping but I could wake her up. She said she’d Uber. Okaaayyy…

Older got up and took over Living Room Duty at 3:45. I told her about the phone call, then headed to my room to await further developments. Ben grabbed a bag of poofs and followed me to my room.

I think I’ll go ahead and publish now, while everything is calm. While I can. Thanks go out to Gary for introducing me to this awesome band.

Thank you for being brave enough to come back to my aptly named Casa Cuckoo. It wasn’t very exciting today, but I think we’ve had enough excitement. Things DO change quickly here though, so you just never know… Come by tomorrow, I’ll save you a seat on the couch and maybe Ben will let you play with some of his chalk… we’ll have some laughs, even if it’s just watching Zeus chase his tail or Sven Glare at me.

  1. Isn’t it amazing how fast we can go from being asleep to fully awake, running outside to protect against possible danger? I always surprised myself with that uncanny early morning ability. Sounds like you had an oooookkkkkaaaayyyy kind of day ๐Ÿ™‚ . I hope today is a great one for you guys!

    1. Thanks Robyn! It was a better day for sure. Today is gonna be weird. Younger (and a bunch of her things) stayed here last night.๐Ÿคช We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

    1. The Hu are really great, mixing traditional Mongolian sounds and instruments with a Heavy Metal beat and vibe. I don’t know how Gary found them, but I’m thankful he shared! A lot of us music lovers are always on the lookout for new, quirky stuff. That’s part of why I do an “exit song”. I like to share bands and music others might not have heard of. Especially in the U.S., stuff hits the West Coast and the East Coast before it is heard in the middle states.
I should add a line or two about suggesting new music to my daily song. I’m sure there’s stuff I’d love but haven’t heard.

    1. Yeah… that doesn’t even count the big tub of old chalk… next time he’s feeling destructive, I’m gonna take him outside, sit him a a shady spot, dump the old chalk and give him a rock to bust them up. Our cement will be festively multicolored for 5 minutes or so… until he sweeps it all into the air๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚
