Part 137 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

The rest of last night was very chill. Ben ate his pizza, had his bath and was in bed on schedule. Daughter did his bath again since kneeling is still a big Ouchie to me.

I skipped sunset again last night… Sorry and You’re Welcome. My leg hurt and I thought staying off of it would be good. Another night of chillin and veggin. Daughter changed the dressing on my leg since it had oozed through a tiny bit in one place. It’s healing well, no infection. We’ll probably leave the steri-strips on for a week since I won’t go get stitches.

Younger called and we talked. I haven’t really talked to her in a while, definitely not since that crazy night. I got a few details that make me very unhappy, but she has to live her life. She will be twenty-six in December, I had already been through my first complete deconstruction and built myself back up when I was her age. Anyway, she seems to be out of crisis mode, so that’s good news.

I finally took my pill and more morphine around 11:30 and went to sleep sometime after midnight.

Bounce and bedquakes followed by command to relocate at the usual time. I was slow to get moving this morning. Even with all the drugs in my system, I had a restless night. The stupid cats seemed to be purposely stepping on my leg.

I got settled in the Couch Sittin Spot and Ben bounced all over the house. Zeus was ready for action too and kept bringing his mutilated toys to me to play tug with him. I guess both boys were jazzed by the full moon. I was happy when they both went outside around 6:15am.

Meds and uncovering Sven at 6:45. I petted, then poked at Sven. He wouldn’t glare at me… sheesh! I just want to know he’s alive. Silly lizard, brumating in 90°F weather. I dozed on the couch. I didn’t mean to, but I was very tired. I heard Ben yelling “Gramma! HELP!” from outside. It didn’t sound like true distress, but of course I had to check. It wasn’t distress. I “helped” him up and we went back to the house.

Daughter got up a little after 8:00 and took over. I told her that HRH was definitely UP today and beware. Then I went to my room, followed by Zeus and Ben… Bedquakes and dozing… rinse, repeat.

I was finally, coherently awake around 11:00. I didn’t want to get up though because the sounds from the living room were a little hyper. Not bad or angry, but not chill either. I stayed, quietly in my room until I had to get up.

I stayed in my room, enjoying Horizontal Time until about 3:30. I had occasional visits from Ben and Zeus pretty much stayed with me, but it was nice to just relax and read posts for a few hours. I ventured out for beverage refills and bathroom breaks, but my leg and my spirit needed the down time.

At 3:30 Daughter wanted to go charge her stuff and stretch out on her bed. We had the Changing Of The Couch Sitters Ceremony with Ben and Zeus dancing around us. Diesel Cat looked up once and yawned in true feline fashion.

Ben decided to stop doing the chalk thang and joined me on the couch at 4:00. Diesel Cat stretched, Zeus laid on the floor. Very exciting times at Casa Cuckoo today!

5:00 and Daughter has taken back the honor of Couch Sittin. I’ve once again been banished to my room. I wish I knew what I did to get banished, so I can do it again!

“It’s what you do and not what you say
If you’re not part of the future then get out of the way

Thanks for stopping by. What a chilled out day for me! I feel like I should feel bad, but I don’t. Not even a little bit. There are always things to do, but nothing really needed to be done. Except I needed to relax and stay off my leg, and I did. I hope you’ll come by tomorrow, the temperature is supposed to drop to 83°F (28°C) so the weather will be nice. Maybe we’ll actually do something. We’ll have fun and lots of laughter, no matter what happens.

    1. I’ve been thinking about that song and wanting to play it, but couldn’t remember the name or who sang it with him. Then Rory posting Your Life Is Now clicked it for me…🎼💃🏼
Sad that 20 years later almost and it’s even more relevant.
      Sending hugs!💌

  1. I am so glad you got a day to chill and let your leg get some rest. I hope you have a chill day tomorrow so your leg has more time to heal. Fingers crossed all is well with your leg soon!

      1. That is huge! Still very much a shadow but I escaped for a quick coffee with a friend yesterday and he coped – he was my son’s shadow for a bit!

    1. Today started with an overcast sky, which means cooler temperatures so that’s good! The leg is slowly healing. I’m impatient with myself… I expect to jump back up and keep going.🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ I need to stop doing that.🤷🏼‍♀️😂🤗🥰🌊🦄

  2. A day of mostly rest where you have hours to simply read? Now I’m wondering if I might need to sustain an injury myself, something minor but still worthy of recuperation. Not making fun of your plight, mind you, just a little jealous…. 😉
