Part 141 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Yesterday evening while Ben was too busy playing with his chalk to eat his “white chicken”, I masked up and ran the errands. I got the meds, Ben and I are good for a month. I got the other four or five things, plus some dollar toys for Ben and a couple for Zeus. I filled the tank with gas. Have I mentioned that I love my ten year old Prius? $27 filled the tank. It wasn’t completely empty, but I can get about four hundred miles on that $27… pretty good.

Ben was still in the tub when I got home. I was unloading the two bags and Zeus saw one of his toys and jumped up on me to get it, nearly knocking me over. I almost didn’t give it to him. He jumped up on us when we first adopted him, but we broke that. I guess he was just so excited that he forgot or was trying to get the toy. Big Dumb Dog.

Ben came out of the bathroom, naked and dripping water a minute later. I guess the second it would’ve taken him to throw his bathrobe on, was more than he could spare. He sensed (or heard) that I had toys. I had glow stick bracelets for him. My tribute was accepted. Daughter grabbed his bathrobe, put a glowstick bracelet on him and herded him and Zeus off to bed.

I did look at the sunset and I took a few pictures, but I wrote yesterday about the Sun moving south. I found a picture from Summer Solstice, the farthest north the sun travels in the Northern Hemisphere, and another from a month later for comparison.

The undated picture is from August 3, 2020. I think it’s pretty cool to mark where, in the distant trees, the sun is setting. I looked for a picture from Spring Equinox, but I didn’t have one. That was before I went overboard on the sunset. I will definitely get pictures of the Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice. Or if it’s cloudy, as close to the dates as possible. Look at me, being all sciencey and stuff.

Anyway, the rest of the evening/night was chill. The most exciting thing that happened was a cricket found it’s way into my room and was hopping all over the place. Crickets are good luck and it made me laugh to see it hopping everywhere, I just let it do it’s thing.

I took my Restoril around 10:30pm and konked out pretty soon after.

Another variation of the Wakeup was introduced this morning. Ben very quietly said “Gramma come living room.” No manners, and he was so quiet I probably wouldn’t’ve heard him if Zeus hadn’t been sniffing at me after the bedquakes of his arrival. Maybe I should name this version the Quaking Whisper. What do you think?

Fast forward… 6:02am Couch Sittin. FF… 6:45am meds and Sven (who got poked but not paparazzi’d). FF… 8:10am Daughter came to take over Couch Sittin Duty. I went and got Horizontal. (hand chopping down forearm motion)

I did bloggy stuff and email stuff and played a few games. Ben came and Bounced me a few times, hung out for a while and left. It was a pretty chill morning. I started to doze off at one point but I jerked awake with the words “about Judith” in my mind. I don’t know anyone named Judith, but with the cricket last night and a solitary crow looking down at me from the appartment roof yesterday morning… I’m paying attention. (crickets and crows are symbolic messangers) Is Judith an important name to any of you wonderful WP peoples?

I was a little concerned about Ben being so loud and boisterous today, but he was singing and making his Happy Noises, so I told myself to knock it off and just enjoy the chill. Daughter goes back to work tonight, and she’s working Saturday and Sunday night too… there will be plenty of busyness, I need to enjoy the chill while it’s here!

At 3:00pm Daughter went to her room to charge her stuff and stretch out before work. I went out to sit with Ben. 3:00pm is the beginning of his difficult time, he’d been having a good day, I wanted to keep it going.

He was laying on the couch with his tablet, I laid in The Spot and told him we should take a picture. That’s when he closed his eyes. I got him to open them and smile for a picture, but then he closed them again. He was nodding off.

I spent the next hour keeping him awake. He played a few games on the tablet, I tickled him, Zeus barked his head off, I even made him sit up. When he started falling asleep sitting up, like a wee one in a high chair, is when I gave up. He obviously needed to sleep. I went to let Daughter know and I texted Younger to see if she could come.

Younger texted back that she could come, so no worries about letting him sleep. If he doesn’t wake up on his own, I’ll wake him for all of his night meds and get him off to bed after I Drive Miss Daisy.

See, Ben picking the night Daughter goes back to work to fall asleep is perfectly Casa Cuckoo. I like the chill vibe, we can keep that for sure, but I’ve come to expect Mr Murphy, or his cousin Sod, to interfere and it feels wrong when too many things go right.

Think that’ll do it for now. Enjoy a pretty song…

Thanks for stopping by for another chill day. There were moments of chaos, enough to keep me from freaking out. Plus, I’m learning to accept the calm, enjoy the chill. This has been such a difficult year for so many people. I am truly blessed and I am grateful for my blessings. I appreciate how good things are for me. I am happy most days, my family is healthy, sheltered and fed. My girls, Ben and I have each other, and I have the incredible support of a group of wonderful people I’ve never met IRL. Thank you! See ya tomorrow…

    1. I was talking to Older tonight about how I’m a big baby with acute pain. Falling down taught me that I prefer my chronic pain to acute pain. Chronic stuff is background noise… street traffic. Acute pain is a car alarm going off at 3am.😫

  1. Look at you being all sciencey! You can definitely see the shift. That’s cool! I have a feeling you got quaked really early or didn’t get to bed until super late. Whichever, I hope you got some good restful hours in. I hope you guys have a great day today!

    1. Not a lot of sleep for me, but more than some nights. It’s overcast this morning so it’s cool, which is always nice. It’s been chill so far, hopefully it continues. I hope you guys keep your power and have a chill weekend too.🤗🥰💃🏼

  2. I didn’t know crickets and crows were symbols of things to come. I don’t know any Judith’s either. Hmmm 🤔. Not sure.

Glad you can appreciate the small things and Ben is doing well.

We are fine here also. I am also grateful for my husband and boys and our health. It’s all that matters.

My Father had a seizure last Sunday and had to go to the ER. Luckily the cat scan was negative and blood tests were normal so the hospital sent him back to the Veteran’s home. Since he was gone for more than 6 hours, he is in quarantine in another hospital. My dad hates hospitals.

Through all of this we haven’t been able to visit and the nurses can’t figure out face time. Ugh. It’s so hard. We dropped off some of his favorite goodies, and call him, but he is miserable and wants to go home.

This Covid thing sucks, but so far everyone in my family is safe.

    Have a great Saturday.

    Teri

    1. Sorry your Dad had the seizure, glad he’s okay and doing well enough to complain.😉
The “no visitors” is so hard for the patient and the family, but it’s the best way to keep the patients, all of them, safe.
I’m glad California is being serious about the virus, I just wish more people in California would take it seriously!
There’s a Farmer’s Market at a local beach every Wednesday. Very supervised. After they close, people hang out and party… no masks, no distancing… the residents finally sent a letter to the city council and the police went out. It shouldn’t have come to that. Selfish people, not caring what their actions might do to others. It makes me so mad!! I’m sure a lot of them are tourists too. Ugh!!

      1. I love Farmers Markets. How cool it’s at a beach.

Yes. Lots of not so smart individuals out there. I feel bad for the doctors and nurses who are getting exposed because of people’s stupidity.
        Stay well

  3. It’s really interesting to see the changes in sun position as the months pass. These are the things we don’t normally notice and they remind us of our place in the universe.

    1. Yes, exactly. I know that the sun appears to move north or south, but I’ve never marked the difference except vaguely.
I think if more people took time to notice nature and the cycles, they’d want to be more in harmony and that would be a HUGE benefit to the Earth and every living thing on it.🤗🥰💖
