Part 163 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

I woke Daughter up at 4:30. Ben was getting that sleepy look on his face… I asked if he wanted to take his bath early, that we had to take Mom to work, so he couldn’t sleep yet.

Daughter took over around 4:45pm. I did end up running his bath around 5:15-5:30. It helped to wake him up a little and it kept him occupied.

The only “problem” was that when we got home from Driving Miss Daisy and The Boys were tucked in, the Sun had gone behind the trees. I took some pictures way earlier, so I have my Sciencey Data, and one day wouldn’t make a difference. I’m looking forward to mid September when we have the Autumnal Equinox. Then I’ll show you the difference between Summer Solstice and the Equinox.

Younger called me while I was outside taking pictures. She said she might be staying here tonight and could I come get her. I told her that she can stay here whenever but her sister was at work already… no ride. She said she’d let me know. I guess the fight from yesterday hadn’t been resolved.

I nuked a frozen Amy’s Bowl, did the night things, ate my food, and at 9:45 I texted Younger to see what the dealio was. She decided to stay where she was for the night, (ex?)Partner works overnight and left for work around 9:30. She said she might come straight here after work Saturday. I told her that would be okie dokie with me, just keep me informed. We said our Goodnights and Love Yous.

Then Older was taking a break so she was texting me. I konked out around 11:15, but hadn’t taken my pill, so I woke up just about every hour.

I got up at 6:15am, let Zeus out of Ben’s room, and went to the coffee pot. Ben came out a minute later. I uncovered Sven, turned his lights on and paparazzi’d him. Then I went to get Ben’s water bottle and charger. Rinse, repeat…

We went and got Daughter from work on time, no problems. I had secured a WallyWorld pickup time of 8am-9am Sunday and had a cart-load of stuff. When we got home I handed my phone to Daughter so she could add whatever to the order, then I walked over to market for diet coke, Starbursts and wine.

Daughter had finished, I did the checkout and she went to her room to watch shows and get ready to sleep. Ben and I did general Casa Cuckoo stuff.

Sven was being all grumpy and glass surfing (WP still glitchy, here’s a link https://www.thesprucepets.com/bearded-dragon-glass-surfing-1238401) so I put him in the shower.

He was happier after his shower. I think he wants more attention, more time out of the terrarium, but I’m afraid the Big Dumb Dogzilla will hurt him. Zeus already accidentally killed a Beardie, trying to play with it. And Zeus MUST be with me at all times. Daughter takes Sven out for cuddles when she’s not sleeping.

Ben was restless around 10am (the time they want him to “Distance Learn” via Zoom) and was pacing, fake laughing, and not able to settle at any activity. I think it was just a med lapse, but times like that are when he looks for trouble cuz he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

I switched on the AC and did some straightening up. He likes to watch me do stuff. Then it was med time, I knew cuz the alarm went off. He took his med, and sat on the couch with his tablet and some Blue Ramen. He was watching some animated movie with hitting in it. He was slapping himself in the face and falling over… onto me. Then he got up and hit his head on the door and fell. More slapping, more falling… I’m beginning to think I should discourage animated movies and shows. Like that would make any difference…

He was still bored and restless. He kept telling me to “go to the store”… he wants new chalk. He’s worn the chalk he has down pretty far. I still look when I’m at stores… I ordered some and it shipped on the twenty-fourth via FedEx, but I can’t track it because of Laura. I just tried to keep him occupied.

I tried setting up the dominoes for him, and he liked watching me set them up, then knocking them down. I did that four or five times, but it was starting to hurt my back.

I dumped his box of bits of chalk in front of the bathroom, where he likes to work… kinda to remind him. He was watching his tablet at the time and he eventually got a little interested.

Daughter took over Couch Sittin around 2:45. I figured she’d set her alarm for 2:30 and I was allowing time for uncrossing her eyes, but I was SO ready to get Horizontal!

Younger texted to let me know she planned to come here after work, and could she borrow some money? I told her yes and asked what time she got off work. She texted that she was off at 5:30pm, so she’d be here before I had to Drive Miss Daisy. SWEET! I texted that she was awesome, that Ben had been restless today. Very nice!

Daughter is making Ben’s pizza, he’s playing with his chalk and all is calm-ish at the Casa. Younger will be here around 6pm, so no stress about getting Ben ready for the drive or if he gets sleepy and wants to crash early. This day has felt forever long and I still have hours left before I can crash. Younger is planning on hanging out until Partner-Person goes to work at 9:30pm.

It’s interesting how thoughts lead to other thoughts. I read Rory’s post (https://aguycalledbloke.blog/2020/08/29/to-be-read/) and this song, or more precisely the first line of this song, popped into my head. I had to Goigle it. Memory is interesting too. Why did I remember the words but not the artist? Anyway, enjoy!

Thank you for stopping by Casa Cuckoo. It was an interesting day. Not as hot, but not as chill either. Every day is something different, I guess that’s good. There are plenty of opportunities for laughs mixed in with drama and Adventure. And Sven is awake! ¡Hasta mañana!
