If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Ben started buggin around 5:30pm. “You have to get dressed, you have to go to the store…” UGH! He wanted a pumpkin of all things. I told him Halloween is far away, and showed him in the calendar. I got the construction paper out and offered to make a pumpkin for him… Nope! So I went to the living room to get away from him before he could work himself up. Daughter was cooking his steak, he decided to go outside to his dirt hole. Excellent idea!
Dinner, bath and bedtime went fine. I got some sunset pictures. The sky was still all white from the smoke. The camera, without filters, captured more and less than my eyes. I saw a neon ruby red colored sun setting in a white sky tinged with pink.
Regular Night Things followed sunset. I ate, I dozed, I did my Stuff, and I dozed some more. I woke just before 2:00am, took my pill, then went outside to look for the moon and Mars. They were visible and I took a few pictures, but the yellow of the moon and the red of Mars didnt show. I went back inside, did Stuff and went back to sleep.
At 6:15 Ben was sitting on the side of my bed. I said “Good Morning, babylove.” He said “I want Gramma come living room please.” So I got up and followed him. Zeus came back in from outside and we all went to the living room.
Morning Stuff… including taking Sven out for a few minutes of cuddles while I got his food and waited for the coffee Dragon to finish burbling and hissing.
I took him with me when I went outside to check on sunrise. I put him back in his terrarium with his food and went back outside to take pictures of the Sun.
Meds were given when the alarm told me to, the house was closed up and the AC unit turned on since the air was still gross and the Guessers predicted a high of 90°F (32°C) for today. Not horrible heat, but not comfortable either. Then it was Couch Sittin with Ben.
As soon as I stopped moving, I started dozing off. The Big Dumb backup alarm was right there, nosing me, every time I started drifting away. Gee, thanks!
Daughter got up and took over Couch Sittin Duty around 7:45am. I gave my report and went to get Horizontal. Zeus followed me as usual, Ben was back and forth. He really does seem to have a special sense that alerts him when I’m falling asleep, cuz he timed his visits, complete with bedquakes, just as I riding that sweet wave into dreamland.
The morning was relaxing and everything was groovy. We skipped the Zoom School session today. Ben was in the Chalk Zone, he was happy, the weather was tolerable (except for the stink) and we wanted to keep the vibe going. If that makes us horrible people, rotten carers, negligent guardians… so be it. Daughter did email his teacher. It’s not like we just didn’t show up. We might be horrible, but we’re not rude.
At 1:30 Daughter wanted to go lay down in her room. I got my stuff and began a second tour of Couch Sittin Duty. Ben was under the skylight, working on his chalk. Groovy!
He got up on the couch with me around 2:30. I only know it was “around 2:30” cuz that’s when I gave him meds. He watched his tablet and ate some snacks, I did Stuff on my phone.
Daughter came to take over Couch Sittin Duty around 4:15pm. I like how she said “two hours” when she went to lay down at 1:30. She hasn’t given an accurate time, or gotten up when she said, yet. She should just say she’s gonna get up when she gets up, or not give a time. Communication between us human beans would be much better if we were like Horton and meant what we said, and said what we meant.
It’s about that time… Ben is being crazy, hitting his head and acting out some animated movie he’s been watching. Dinner bath and bedtime are just around the bend.
Lots of people writing about dreams. I thought I’d pick a song about dreams. It was difficult because there are SO many. Heart wins because I got to see them back in the 80s.
Another dull, relaxing day. My body is still healing so dull and relaxing is just fine with me. I forget that some people live most of their days without the drama that usually permeates Casa Cuckoo. Only little dramas today, like Younger ripping her pants at work and needing to go home and change and needing to use the credit card for gas. Or Older busting into tears because she felt bad for lying about the reason we skipped Zoom School today. Little dramas. Come by tomorrow… maybe more little dramas, maybe big dramas, and I guess even NO dramas is a possibility. Absolutely anything is possible here. ¡Hasta mañana!

Dull + relaxing = nothing wrong with that! I am glad it was an uneventful day for you guys and you got a day of rest and togetherness. I don’t blame you for missing the zoom. I think you are right – Zoom is practically a curse word anymore to me! Well, I hope the smell goes down some more and you have some more chill tomorrow!

Thanks Robyn… at exact 12:27pm PDT… 3:27 your time, I was thinking “I hope Robyn had a good day. I hope Zooming wasn’t horrible”
I keep thinking I’ll get used to the smell, but I havent. At least the fire has moved away from us. And the temperatures are cooler. I slept UNDER the blankets last night😲😉😂💕

I only had one crying spell today when the Music teacher (honestly, music? we have to do ALL the special classes!?!?!) told us there was an assignment that couldn’t be found anywhere. After a geometry assignment (from last week!) I watched get turned in, not be found by the teacher. And little Miss Sassy Pants telling me, “I DID IT MOM! OHMYGOSHYOUARESOANNOYING!” Actually, though, at that particular time I was thankful enough that Bobby was all done school and had a private basketball practice about a half an hour away. So, I left the house at 2:45, taking Bob from downstairs to sit with Declan while he learned about Amelia Earhart and courage -to go sit for a practice from 3:30-5:00 listening to my audiobook, Queenie. I had to take Bobby right from there to a football practice, dropped him off for some more audiobook time on the drive home, and then home to make dinner for the rest of us. For once, 3:30 was a good time. Yay!! Tomorrow we have an orthodontist appointment and haircuts in the mix. Not ideal appointments, but hey, they are better than zoom!!! 🙂 🙂

I don’t miss running kids to practice or appointments… or the SASS, although I still Drive Miss Daisy and she still has an attitude 😂😂😂 Good luck! And Yay! Bob can definitely help! 😉💕

The sun does look like a marble in the bushes. Zoom isn’t the answer to all questions. I respect you and daughter making the best decision for Ben and for your family. I hope the night is cooler and that tomorrow is another relaxing day for you all. 💫💗🍀🎶✨🤗

Little dramas are better that a meltdown. We all tell white lies when we are trying to be polite. Hope you have a good restful night my friend. Take care. ❤️💖

Tonight’s sunset showed the smoke pushed to a line along the horizon. I guess the Santa Ana came but was mild? I saw blue sky for the first time in days, so that’s hopeful.
Breathing non stinky air that doesnt burn my nose and sinuses would be awesome!
Hope you get some good sleep tonight!💕

I love this line: “We might be horrible, but we’re not rude.” I hear ya. As long as we’re polite to one another it should all work out. Mostly…

Right?! A little courtesy goes a long way. “Please” and “Thank you” go a long way. You’ve worked in customer service industry, so have I. Simple courtesy and common sense are two things sorely lacking in our society.
When I rule the world… oh nevermind. 🤐🙊😆💕

We say pants to Zoom. Hope that pesky smell goes soon. Always loved that song. Never got the chance to see them. Look after yourself. We’ve got this. xxxx

They’re getting the fire under control so hopefully the smell will be gone soon. Living in a valley doesn’t help… I feel like were in the King novel “Under The Dome”. Ah, as with everything, this too shall pass.
We SO got this… we’re superheroes. You’re Superdad and I’m Batman😉💌💌

Thank goodness for no big dramas! I always loved that video 😁. And your sunrise and sunset pictures are amazing!! It’s too bad that their beauty comes from something so terrible 😘😘🌷🌷

Yeah, I always like the dramatic sunrises and sunsets that are from clouds, not smoke or when I was younger… smog. The air in SoCal, at least my part, has gotten cleaner over the last 30 years (dang! I hate being about to quote big chunks of past time😫😂)

I hear you, on all points! Sunsets with clouds are the bomb! Smog sucks, I kinda remember those days. And big chunks of time do sound scary, don’t they? 😂🤗💓💝🕉💙☯️👏🏼👏🏼

I’m just always shocked by my age. Hey! When did that happen? Wasn’t I just 30 like yesterday?🙄🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes!! Lol 😂. Once, I was talking about my in-person bestie (who’s 8 months younger than I am) and her kids, and I couldn’t believe how fast her daughter was growing up. I was like “man! I’m not even old enough to be her…wait…I’m older than her mother!!!” 😂😂😂. He had fun watching the gears turn and the realization hit 😂😂. Time flies faster and faster, the older we get lol 😉💝🕉😎🐉🌵🌺
