Part 203 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

Daughter gave Ben his food but he was still goofing with the chalk. I brushed and rebraided his hair, then started carrying his Stuff to his room. Daughter gave him his meds at 5:45pm. I was doing my Sciencey Stuff in between all the other stuff.

Ben eventually moved to the couch and watched his tablet while eating… very slowly… he was still eating 6:30pm. When he finally finished, Daughter ran his bath, and helped him get clean. I covered Sven, finished picking up all the stuff, and continued taking pictures. The Sun was below view, on the other side of the hills to the west, but not set into the Pacific yet… it was “intermission”.

I edited some of the pictures, kissed Ben Goodnight, and sent a message to my mother. She texed me a couple days ago and I kept getting sidetracked every time I remembered I needed to text her back. My schedule, my Groove, has been thrown off and I’m working on a new groove. I don’t quite have Llama Face, but I don’t want it to go there either.

After “intermission” I took some pictures of the pretties… switched to “pro” ISO 100

Then I did the Night Stuff, ate some Panda veggie Spring Rolls, did some email and WP stuff, and relaxed in the quiet. And before I knew it, it was midnight. I guess thats how things go for me. I took my pill and got ready for a trip to Dreamland.

I got Bounced at 5:30am, but Daughter was awake and heard The Boys exiting the bedroom and came to collect one of them. She left Zeus with me. It was noisy, it was bedquakey, it was ear sniffy, but I was still pretty sleepy… I took a look outside at the sky, saw clouds, clouds, clouds and knew there would be no sunrise to watch, so I went back to sleep.

I swam toward to the surface a few times, but was never really awake until just before 9:00am. I saw the time and fought to stay awake. I could’ve easily gone back to sleep and there were no pressing issues needing my attention… just my daily routine and STUFF to do.

Ben had a Zoom at 9:30, so I got up to get coffee and take care of Sven. No coffee, and Sven was uncovered but hadn’t been fed. I moved his light and got him some fresh greens and two worms. The worms burrowed under the greens.

I guess he was unhappy about the delay or he wasn’t hungry… he just sat there, glaring at me. I even moved the greens a bit to get the worms moving, but he either didn’t notice or didn’t care. If he gets hungry, he’ll eat.

Daughter tried to log into Zoom and get Ben to the chair. By the time I’d helped with Ben, she figured out the link was bad. Aw, shucks! No Zooming… but then her phone went off, Ben’s teacher was calling. There was a new link emailed this morning… great, swell, wonderful! (too much sarcasm?) She was attempting to log into the new link, I was trying to get Ben in the chair. We got the Zoom on, and Ben in the Chair of Zoom and I exited.

From my room I could hear her asking him to get back in the chair… over and over and over. It was irritating me, TBH. I went back out, hooked my hands under Ben’s armpits and pulled him up and into the chair. I asked him to stay in the chair, and left. He threw himself back out of the chair. I really hate Zoom!

The session was over at 10:00am. Luckily Ben didn’t get TOO upset. He just carried on doing whatever he was doing. The coffee was finally ready, so I got a cup. I was talking to Daughter about going up to the grocery store to get more of the “pink cookies” Ben had asked for, and to get my morphine so the robot would quit calling me. Then my phone went off and I showed her the screen… Vons Pharmacy.

I asked what else, besides wine did I need to get. She started telling me things, and they would all be less expensive at WallyWorld, so I scheduled a pickup for Friday morning at 8:00am. Then we loaded the cart and did the checkout. Ben was still sitting in the Chair Of Zoom, watching his tablet.

As I was getting dressed to go to Vons, Daughter started naming off stuff she wanted specifically fron Vons, like their potato salad. I got the list and started adding the stuff. Even as I was walking out the door she mumbled something at me, and I had to ask her to repeat it. It was “Check out the Halloween stuff, bring me a present.” I told her I would look.

I got my meds, got everything on the list, and even got her a present or three. I got home and had difficulty getting through the door with the bags cuz Zeus and Ben was doing the chalk thang right in the middle of the walkway.

I had to set the bags down. I handed the bag with the presents to Daughter, gave Ben a package of “pink cookies” and shoo’d Zeus. I was able to carry two of the three remaining bags to the kitchen, then went back for the other one. Meanwhile, Ben grabbed the “cat skeleton” and got his earbuds tangled up in the ribs, Dogzilla was knocking dominoes to the four corners and Daughter was at my side saying “I’ll put the stuff away. I’ll put the stuff away.” I said “Fine!” put the stuff in my hands down, and walked to my room. She was upset with me for being “grumpy” when I came in. I told her that trying to walk the obstacle course, carrying heavy bags with breakable stuff, while being mobbed was enough to make anyone grumpy.

She put the stuff away and I stayed away until she was done. Then I went back out for something and alnost fell when I stepped on a domino and it slid under my foot. ARRRGH! I picked up all the dotted dominoes from the kitchen area, then I picked up all the red dominoes from un front of the bathroom, then I moved Ben’s chalk into a neater pile, closer to him. Less than ten minutes of effort and there was room to walk without stepping on something. I went back to my room to start going through my email, WP and miscellaneous Stuff.

Ben had a Zoom scheduled at noon, but Daughter must’ve decided to skip it cuz I didn’t hear anything being mentioned. At 12:30pm she stopped by my door on the way to her room to tell me she was going to her room to charge her stuff and lay down. I said okay. I stayed in my room, waiting for Ben to come command me to the living room.

Ben issused his Royal Command at 11:53am PDT. I gathered my stuff, and headed to the living room. While I was tidying up so I could begin Couch Sittin Duty, the alarm told me to give HRH half an Adderall, so I did. When things were back in their places and trash was thrown away and his tablet charger was retrieved from his room, plugged in and attached to his tablet (which was at 2% battery) I sat down and began my tour. I also continued to make my way through WP. I was SOOOO behind…

Ben continued to do his chalk thang. When the 2:30 med alarm went off, I took the meds to him in the chalk area. I had to go into the bottles to get the two half pills to give him. Daughter hadn’t loaded up the pill keeper thingy.

Ben continued doing his chalk thang and I worked my way through my WP reader. It was a really mellow afternoon. As of 5pm Daughter was still sleeping. I had no plans to wake her up. I’m definitely tired of the game, and don’t want to play anymore. Ben and I are doing fine and I can fix his dinner, give him a bath and put him to bed. It irritates me that she chose night shift “to spend more time with Ben, but she sleeps half the time he’s awake.

Kind of a weird day today. Not bad, just weird. I can’t believe I stayed in bed until 9am. I bet you’re all glad the rows of pictures were absent. I only have one item on the agenda for tomorrow… a WallyWorld pickup at 8:00am. No staying in bed until 9am tomorrow. There will probably be laundry too. Daughter goes back to work tomorrow night, so there’s Driving Miss Daisy too. I guess there’s more than one item after all… Come hang out. Who knows what might happen?! ¡Hasta mañana!

      Sven hadn’t found his worms yet when I covered him. I discovered his heat coil was turn off, and it was in the 70s today. Poor Sven may have been too cold to “hunt”😂😂😂 pampered lizzard!

  2. 9 AM! Wow, that is awesome! I am still hopeful for the day you get to sleep as long as you want to, but hey, 9 AM is a nice start! I can’t blame you for being excited about missing zooms. Now that I know D is going back, I am spending more time with the big kids on their stuff and letting D handle (or not handle) some (not all) of his learning (just sitting on a zoom looking out the window) on his own. Tomorrow is a heavy Catelyn day (“I DID IT!!!” turned into me finding she really didn’t do i)t and so she (we) have some catch-up to do. It’s a mess, but hopefully, things will change for all of us soon! Hope your day tomorrow is a good one! Good luck with your new bestie (the quarter lady) if you see her!

    1. I know, 9am… amazing. I didn’t go to sleep til 1am and there was the 5:30am Bounce, but still… 9am is awesome!
      Little Miss is a mess! I do not envy you the next few years. I’m surprised my girls and I survived their teens. Younger actually dropped out of school in 9th grade. Its a miracle she graduated on time.
      I’m still watching the Quarter Lady… people don’t usually switch that quickly.

      You only have 16 more days… really only 10 Zoom days left!💫💃🏼✨💕🌠

  3. Sven’s glare OMG, lol. I can’t handle how hilarious he is! You are seriously under appreciated by those you serve. It’s not easy working for the Royals, lol. I would also take advantage of your goodness and ask for 3 Halloween presents and then assault you at the door and let you trip over my mess so I just can’t judge ;). Have a good night. I need to go and type the next instalment of the Princess and Curdie!

    1. My life is such a Soap Opera!!😂 Weird stuff happens all the time. I’ve said we should have our own reality show, we’re more fun than the stuff on TV. Ben running around all day today in a Tigger onesie pajamas with a broken zipper on the back (for potty emergencies) so his butt was hanging out all day🤣🤣🤣And Sven’s glares a legendary! No one gives side-eye like a triangle headed lizzard🤣🤣

  6. I get a little peeved as well when I come traipsing in the door, loaded down with things for everybody ELSE, but nobody in that Else group is the slightest bit interested in helping me out or moving their crap out of the way….

    1. Right?! I never stay in bed til 9am. It would’ve been great if I’d slept til 9am, but beggars can’t be choosers. I got an extra 45 minutes today💃🏼 didn’t get out of bed til 6:30😲

      The clutter and obstacle course nature of the clutter is my biggest peeve. It just BUGS me!

  7. I get really fed up with clutter too, and have been known to put things away while ‘they are still being used.’ Hope you get the chance of more lay-ins soon. ☺️

  8. So glad you got some good sleep!! 👏👏. Your sunset pics are truly delicious 😍. I used to take forever to eat dinner too – would literally be at it for like 3 hours, if I couldn’t handle the texture, which was pretty often lol 😱😂. I do eat faster now, but it’s still not uncommon for me to take 45-60 minutes to eat 😳😂. Ugh, technology. It’s so wonderful and yet, often such a headache lol. Three cheers for wine 🍷!! 🍾. I hope you get good sleep like this again!! 🥰😎🌈🌷🌸🌺🌵🌴🍂🍂💓☯️💖☮️

I didn’t get out of bed until 10am today!😲 I went to sleep around midnight as usual, woke up at 6:30 when Ben’s med alarm went off, but he was still asleep and Daughter got up a couple minutes later, so I drifted back out. Ben woke me again around 7 or 7:30 for new earbuds, then I konked out again until 9:30!!! That’s the most amazing thing that’s happened in a VERY long time!! It was interrupted, but it was 8+ hours💃🏼✨🌈🦄💕💫🌠💖🦋

        1. Yes! I had a brief moment of recrimination over “wasted time”, but told that voice to shut the hell up!! I’ve been needing sleep, probably still need sleep and the time was NOT wasted.
          Fewer pictures on today’s post , whenever I post it🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m sure no one will mind😉🤣🤣🤣

  9. Halloween items? Candy or decorations? That’s so cute.
    I loved Halloween as a kid. I’m guessing no trick or treating this year?

    So i bought mini cracker Jacks and large Midnight Milkyway candy bars. Will give them to neighbors and our extended family with little ones.

    Older son came home from Tahoe today. We watched his dog and had fun walking him. He is a big love. The dog, of course.
    Glad he could get away. He needed to recharge. Seemed to have a much better attitude.

    Better get some rest now.

    1. I got some strings of battery powered lights. The pumpkins went in Ben’s room and the coffins went in Daughter’s room. They were half price, because no one is decorating. No trick or treating. Luckily Ben doesn’t really follow a calendar so he doesnt know when Halloween is. We’re just not gonna say anything. I feel bad for him though cuz he loves to dress up in a costume a walk around. He doesn’t really care so much about the candy.
