If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Daughter made the pizza for Ben but I had to help get him started on eating. At 5:30pm she gave him his meds, and at 5:45pm I ran his bath. I was Gathering Scientific Data while Ben was eating and while the bathtub was filling. Ben was still eating when the tub was ready, so I told him to keep eating, but hurry a little bit, and went back to my Science.
I heard Daughter telling him if he was done to get in the tub, so I came back inside and found him by the dominoes. I stood him up and stripped his shirt off, Daughter got his pants off, and nudged him into the bathroom, and into the tub. After helping him get cleaned up, I left him to play and went back to Gathering Data.
The Sun was no longer visible, it was “intermission” and Ben was getting out of the tub. I helped with his bathrobe, sat him on the couch and covered Sven. Ben didn’t want to eat anymore so I got him into his Jack Skellington onesie pajamas, socks and shoes. A few minutes later Daughter said we should just go, Ben looked tired… it was 6:20pm.
We dropped her off at work, came back home and I got The Boys tucked in. I texted Daughter to let her know we were home and everything was settled. I took a couple more pictures, but it got dark fast. The clouds were coming in quickly.
I did the Stuff and the Things, then relaxed… Horizontally. I ate around 11:15pm, took my pill just before midnight and went to sleep sometime after that.
I woke twice between the konk out and the alarm at 6:00am. I dragged myself up and checked out the sky to see if there would be sunrise to see or not. The moon was directly overhead and very interesting in the clouds

I took a couple pictures of Venus and the light just beginning to show at the horizon, then went to uncover Sven and put a scoop of kibble down for Dogzilla. I let him out of Ben’s room, waiting to see if I was gonna have to wake Ben up.
Sven was still sleeping but he woke up fast when I opened the terrarium to grab his dish. I got him fresh greens and one worm, which burrowed down before he could get it. Sven wasn’t all the way awake or wasn’t hungry. No action shots, but I paparazzi’d him anyway… in between going to the back gate to take pictures of sunrise.
Ben wasn’t awake by 6:30am when the med alarm went off, so in between pictures I was talking to him and rubbing his arm, trying to wake him up. At 6:45 I told him “I want Ben come living room, please.” I didn’t Bounce him, but I thought about it. The next time I came in from taking pictures, he was on the couch. I gave him his meds and refilled his water bottle. I quit taking pictures around 7:00am. The Sun was up, though I never saw it. A changing, weird sunrise today. You can see Venus in the first picture.
Daughter was going to get her Flu shot after her relief took over. She was gonna let me know when to come pick her up. We usually leave around 7:15am. She called at 7:18 to say the Flu Shot Clinic wasn’t open, so I told her we’d head out, Ben and I were ready.
We picked her up and came home and a wave of sleepiness hit me. It felt like I’d just taken my sleeping pill. Thank goodness we were home. I was almost nauseous with sleepiness. I parked my butt on the couch, Daughter went to her room and Ben sat down and started doing the chalk thang. I tried to stay awake but my eyes kept crossing and closing. I dozed in and out for about an hour. Around 9:30am I got up and went outside. I noticed more pecans ready to be harvested so I made a pouch with the front of my sleep shirt and filled it with pecans. I picked a pocketful last night and I added today’s haul to last night’s. All was taken from one small area of the tree. There’s still a lot left.

I was awake after harvesting pecans, plus it was nice to be outside for a little while. Ben was back and forth between chalk and the couch. I gave him his meds at 10:30am and got myself some fresh coffee, then I put Sven in the shower, then took him outside for a few minutes. I put him back in his terrarium and finally started reading my email and WP.
Ben and I just hung out. We played back and forth scripting games, I fetched things for him like a good peasant should, I gave him his meds when my phone told me to… we chilled. Daughter came to take over Couch Sittin Duty at 2:45pm. I gave my report and went to stretch out… Horizontally.
Time to start getting ready to get ready. All the stuff to do before we take Daughter to work, aka Drive Miss Daisy. I gotta wrassle the octopus tonight… washing Ben’s hair is always exhausting. I’d still rather get it done on SaturnDay night than worry about it on Sunday.
Gotta love a great guitar riff!
I’m so glad you stopped by today. We didn’t do much and I’m sorry if I snored and/or drooled when I konked out on the couch. I’ve never been an attractive sleeper. Mellow days are becoming the new norm (knock on wood) and I’m loving it! This is Casa Cuckoo so even mellow will be a little chaotic or weird. Come by tomorrow, help me harvest some more pecans, or watch Ben doing his chalk thang, or see how many tries it takes Sven to get the worm. Let’s have some giggles… and Adventures! ยกHasta maรฑana!

Love that pic of the moon buried in clouds! Mellow days are all right by me ๐๐ฑโค๏ธ

I’ve learned to just accept them instead of being suspicious, waiting for “the other shoe to drop”.
Isn’t the moon cool? It was really redish around it. I can’t believe my phone camera picked it up. It makes being up before the Sun a little nicer๐๐

What are you gonna do with those pecans? I love pecan pie!

Pecan pie is yummy but only a little bit. Its all sugar! I dont know if my teeth can handle pecan pie.
I really don’t know what I’m gonna do with them. The tree wasn’t here when we moved in, and I guess the birds planted it, cuz we didn’t. It just started bearing nuts last year, and there are 3 times as many this year.
The tree is completely wild. I don’t do anything to it. Except harvest the nuts๐

That is so cool! You are right pecan pie needs to be eaten in moderation in little slivers. ๐

Wow, lots of pecans! Awesome! And I love the pics! I thought it was neat to see that Sven’s beard changes so much. There are some when you can see it is black and some when he is all yellow. So cool! Overall, it sounds like a chill day – which is awesome! Ours was pretty chill too. I am hoping to sit down and post something tomorrow. It was nice to not have a zoom day, or any school today. I am hopeful for Declan’s return in two weeks, but I have this scared feeling that things are going to change and the kids will be home longer because of numbers and the election. Until then, my fingers will remain crossed! Hope you guys have a good night and day tomorrow!

I know that feeling… I didn’t believe Ben was really gonna go until the bus pulled away. It’s been so long, it didnt seem real. Then I was sure we’d be demoted to the more restricted tier… but Monday is his 3rd week and other schools are starting to open this month. Everyone is going slow, which is awesome. I think his school has been pretty good so I think they wouldn’t open unless they were sure. It won’t be real for you either til you wave goodbye to the bus!๐๐๐๐ผ Then go back inside to monitor Little Miss Sass๐
The election… boy, oh boy… who knows what’s gonna happen with that. We could be in BIG trouble. I’m thankful to be in a blue state, although my area has a lot of red too… San Diego is a big military area.
I’m enjoying the mellow days. I quit waiting for the other shoe to drop. Ben starts with the Angry Words I tell him to knock it off ir take it in the other room.๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ He’s tried to tell me to get dressed and go to the store a couple times and I just tell him “not right now”. (We avoid “No”… it’s a triggering word for him) and he gives up. ๐ I think he can tell I’m not nervous or worried about him freaking out, so he doesn’t freak out. Not that he’s suddenly a perfect angel…๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I hope your Sunday is awesome & chill too! 14 more days… only 2 weeks… easy!๐๐๐๐ผโจ๐ ๐

The sunset and sunrise were both very beautiful. ๐ฅฐ itโs super cool youโre getting so many pecans. Nice of the parrots to leave you a few. โบ๏ธ๐ฆโจ๐

It’s the crows I have to watch for. I wouldn’t mind if the Parrots came and ate all the high ones. I can’t get to them anyway, the way the tree grew up through the back of the “deck”. But those crows are sneaky. ๐
I’m going to have to look up recipes… figure out what to do with all of them. I gotta figure out what’s up with my oven first. We quit using it cuz we smelled gas. It has an electronic igniter. We had to have it replaced once. Things just dont last anymoreโน
Have a fantastic Sunday!๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐๐ผ๐ถโจ๐ซ๐๐ค๐ฅฐ

Hereโs to more mellow and relaxed days Angie. You can snore or drool as much as you want, itโs your casa and your couch. The pics are amazing. Look like paintings!

I can’t believe Ben LET me doze on the couch. Usually he tells me to wake up.๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ Daughter was still awake in her room, so that must’ve been why he wasn’t concerned.
I’ve noticed that some of the pictures look like paintings too. Weird how the phone camera does that.๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Sometimes it’s cool, and sometimes it just looks weird.
I hope your morning has been relaxed and the rest of your Sunday is fantastic!๐ค๐ฅฐ๐

Maybe he sensed how tired and sleepy you were. A sleepy peasant is not very useful! ๐๐๐
My day has started well with a scrumptious breakfast. Just finished my walk. Thanks

I’ve never seen a Pecan tree in SoCal, not that I notice every tree, but I was surprised that they grew here. I still don’t know how it got here. It wasnt here when we moved in. One of the birds I guess๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ It’s growing through the back fence of our little “deck”. It’s SOOO Casa Cuckoo ๐ Good harvest this year… and lots of crows taking advantage of the free meal.
It has been a few good days… I’ll take them!!๐๐๐๐

I’m not a big fan of pecan pie (usually too sweet), but if the pie is made really well, they can be quite yummy. (One of the local bakeries around here makes one with roasted pecans that is swell with a cup of coffee.)
Oh, and I get a kick out of these as well:

Yummy! Seems like pecans just go with sugar, huh?๐
The really swell part is going to be getting them out of the shells๐ Too bad I can’t really trust Ben with a nutcracker or the little pick thingy… when he’s in an obsessive mood, that would be a great job for him.๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ I don’t wanna go to the E.R. though.

All those yummy pecans – will you make pie? You’ve chosen another favourite song of mine – good stress reliever to rock out too!

I dont know what I’m gonna do with all the pecans. If I make pie it will be mini pies. Pecan pie is SO sweet. Too much sugar even for me๐ฒ
It’s a great song, isn’t it?!๐ถ๐๐ผ๐

Oven doesnโt work? That would be the end of me. I make a sweet potato ๐ casserole recipe with chopped pecans, brown sugar, flour and butter. Itโs on my blog
Been planting seeds, and tearing out zucchini and pumpkin ๐ plants. Great gardening weather.
Made a special dinner for my mother in law who is in the rehab hospital. She has been getting weaker and doesnโt want to talk to us when we visit. She usually waves goodbye right when we get there.
She claims she canโt hear us, even on Zoom calls. We watched her do exercises with the physical therapist and she mostly demanded to go back to bed.
Itโs hard to see loved ones give up.
Tomorrow she should get her cast off and have a walking boot. Itโs been over 2 months since she fell.
The shocking part about the visit was when her roommate began feeding her. Ugh. It was cute, but a scary reality that her health is deteriorating rapidly.
She likes to see videos of the great grandkids and smiles when we bring a dog to visit.
My husband is losing sleep over the situation. Mee tooo.
Praying things start looking up after her appointment tomorrow.
Hugs

I’m still trying to figure out how the tree got here. It wasn’t here when we moved in. There had been a bougainvillea and I was happy they removed it, I don’t like their thorns or mess.
When the tree started growing it came up between the floor and the wood slats& lattice wall of our little deck area. We thought the bougainvillea had come back to life… Younger Daughter trained the sapling through the lattice… so now we have a tree trunk growing up through the back wall of the deck๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐ There’s also a 2nd trunk out the deck going up the back wall. It’s the weirdest, wildest tree and I just love it!! But how did it get there??? Had to been dropped nut from a bird, but under the deck??? We don’t have squirrels… maybe a rat?? It’s a mystery.๐ค๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐
