If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Daughter popped some chicken nuggets in the toaster oven, and wonder of wonders, Ben started chowing down as soon as they were done and cooled a little. He was hungry and ready to eat. He took his meds around 5:45pm and I was waiting for him to finish eating to run his bath. He was in my room watching his tablet and munching. I didn’t realize he had finished until he ran into the living room to tell Daughter he was ready for bedtime. She told him to tell me he was ready for his bath, cuz I usually do it, and he needed a bath before bedtime… he was covered in chalk dust and the dirt he’d swept into the air. Plus, he was getting his hair washed, which he complained about out of habit, I think. He really didn’t fuss that much. He was too busy splashing water to fuss. So he wasn’t fighting me, but it was still like wrestling an octopus cuz he wouldn’t be still. We got it done, that’s what matters! He played for a while, then off to bed with Zeus.
My Science Project was rather data-less. The clouds were coming in fast and at first I thought the Sun might make a few appearances, maybe one grande finale… it didn’t happen. The sky was pretty for a little while, then it was just white and dark.
I was done taking pictures before I ran Ben’s bath. After he was in bed I got the mail and a package for Younger Daughter that had been delivered. I texted her to let her know she had mail. She texted that she was going out anyway, she’d just come by. I did the Things, and was starting the Stuff when Younger arrived. She didn’t stay long, Partner was in the car, they had Stuff of their own to do. Hugs and “Love you”s and she left. Then I did the Stuff.
For my dinner, I ate soup again. I’d waited until the Stuff was done before I ate, cuz Food Coma usually happens within twenty minutes of eating, no matter the size or ingredients of the meal. And it happened this time too. I finished eating and was reading an article about Harry and Meghan, and then it was 12:30am. I took my pill, ate a piece of chocolate for sweet dreams, and konked back out.
I woke up to the sound (of music, Mother Mary comes to me…?) of Ben “gently” kicking the door. Instead of the BAM! BAM! BAM!, it was more of a bam bam bam bam bam… and Zeus sniffing my ear of course. I hollered “I’m getting up, please stop that!” and incredibly, he did.
I made it out to the living room, got coffee and plopped down. At 6am I uncovered Sven, yadda yadda yadda. His aim was particularly poor this morning. It was good for a giggle.
Meds at 6:30, looks at the eastern sky to see if the Sun would show, hanging out and playing with Ben… just a regular morning. Daughter got up at 9:00am and took over Couch Sittin. Ben had started doing his chalk thang about fifteen minutes prior. I asked how she was feeling but she either didn’t hear me or was ignoring me. Whatever… I spied a bit of sunshine outside so I looked, and photographed, on my way to Horizontal Time.
Ben did chalk for a while, then he’d come hang out in my room for a while, then he’d go back to chalk or whatever, then back to my room. A whole lotta back and forth.
Around noon I asked Daughter if she’d checked the wait time at Urgent Care or what her plans were. She hadn’t really thought about, she said (fibber). I told her let me know. Around 12:30pm she said the wait time was thirty to forty-five minutes, we’d wait. Yeah, good idea.
Then around 1pm Ben was yelling for me to come to the living room. I went, figuring Daughter was in the bathroom or something. She came down the hall a minute later, dressed. Alrighty then. I got some of Ben’s stuff together, put a hoodie on and my shoes. Getting Ben to stop playing with his chalk and use the baño took several prompts, but we were on the way. They took her in right away, Ben and I waited in the parking lot.
Last weekend when we took her to Urgent Care, she was in and out in twenty minutes. We drove home then five minutes later had to drive back and get her. This time, we waited for her and it took almost an hour, cuz of course it did. Ben did really well, although he was getting restless and his meds were due by the time we got home. I was creaky from sitting in the car, but poor Daughter had it worse. The reason she’s not really getting better is because she’s actually getting worse. They did another chest x-ray and she has the beginnings of pneumonia. So, oral steroids, antibiotics and two different cough medications were called into the pharmacy.
I called the pharmacy around 3:15 to see if Daughter’s drugs were ready. They were ready, so I drove up to get them. No line, no wait, no problems… thank goodness. I also got more dag-nabbit Pink Cookies for HRH.
And so we head into the crazy, chaotic time of dinner, bath and bedtime. I am SO glad Daughter isn’t going to work tonight. The weather is still super cloudy and we even had a few sprinkles. I don’t know if the storm will actually bring rain, but I’m feeling really grumpy, so it’s possible the pressure drop is affecting me. I used to get Migraines whenever the pressure dropped. No more Migraines (knock on wood) but my nervous system is hypersensitive. I just have to keep my cool, and ride that Zen wave for another sixty to ninety minutes… easy peasy.
Heard this on the radio when we drove Daughter to Urgent Care.
Today was fairly mellow. I got to sleep in til 5:30am. The big Adventure was taking Daughter to Urgent Care. Can I just say, one more time, I wish she didn’t have a phobia about driving. But wish in one hand… yadda yadda yadda. The GLYSB comes tomorrow, that’s exciting! Robyn at (https://www.autismfamilypower.com/back-to-school-right/) will get to do the GLYSB Happy Dance at 8:47 EDT tomorrow… Congrats Robyn, you made it! After the chaos of getting ready for school, I’ll be chillin, or sleeping. Come on by… hang out, Happy Dance, sleep… we’ll figure it out. ¡Hasta mañana!
