Part 222 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Ben ate his pizza dinner, sitting with Daughter and watching a Batman movie on her laptop. I was taking pictures from different places, trying to figure out where I’d have the best southwest view. After the sun was out of view, I started editing the pictures. When I went to go run Ben’s bath, I found Daughter doing it. I told her I would take care of his bath, but she said “I got it!” Well alrighty then…

There was a lot of repetition on her part and a lot of loud noises on his part, but she got him cleaned up. I was busy sewing the hole in the seat of the overshorts cuz she’d told him he could sleep in his costume. I finished just as he was putting his bathrobe on. The Boys were tucked, kissed and wished a Good Night.

Things, Stuff, the gyro from Sunday night, pill and konked out probably around 11pm.

It was very chilly this morning when Ben did the yelling run-by around 6:15am. I didn’t wanna get up, but HRH insisted.

Daughter was giving Ben his meds when I came out of the baño. I told her I’d warmed up the seat for her. She said the Guessers app was showing current temperature as 45°F (7°C) it was chilly! I uncovered Sven and got him fresh food, but he didn’t move. I put the blanket back over the cover on his terrarium to keep more of the heat inside. Then I went outside to look for Venus. If I have to be up before the Sun, I want to see something pretty or cool, and Venus fits those requirements nicely.

I checked to see if Sven moved toward his food after taking a few pictures of the start of sunrise. The only thing Sven moved was his eyes, opening and closing them, and looking around.

I changed into sweats cuz my PJ bottoms were too thin, and put my uggs on… I was already wearing my hoodie. I continued to take pictures of sunrise, helping Daughter get Ben’s lunch box and backpack ready to go when I came inside. The Sun hadn’t come above the horizon from my vantage point at the gate, but it was time to wait for the GLYSB. It took us a couple minutes to get Ben out the door, and we had just set the chair up when the GLYSB pulled up… six minutes early. Nice!

A more subdued Happy Dance occurred this morning. I was cold and tired and needed more coffee. I went to the gate to get a picture of the Sun… continuity.

Then I got Horizontal, fought the drowsies and went through email and started on my WP reader. I didn’t get very far before Daughter came and flopped on my bed… she’s always been flopper! When she was younger I used to make her get up and sit down more gently… I guess the lesson didn’t stick. Anyway, interrupted before I’d really begun. She came to tell me about all the times the school called for non-emergency stuff, and interrupted her. She failed to see the irony. After telling me about all the interruptions, she left.

I figured I better go to the dang grocery store and get it over with. She called me while I was there, wanting me to get chicken strips and potato wedges from the deli. Okie dokie. Unfortunately they were completely out of chicken strips so she only got tater wedgies. Plus the dag-nabbit store was out of the wine she likes, so I had to go to Rite Aid too. I also got Ben a thing of dominoes at Rite Aid. They aren’t colored, but the dots are. Maybe that would be good enough.

Then after I got home and made two trips to carry all the bags up the driveway to the house, Daughter said “I should’ve had you get more ginger ale and Gatorade. And diet coke for Ben.” UGH! So I walked over to the market for the beverages.

Then I was able to unmask, unshoe and get Horizontal. I had just shy of an hour of GLYSB time left. I was hoping he had a good day, and that he wouldn’t be super SpazmaTaz when he got home.

Ben got off the bus fine and came in the house. He wanted out of all his clothes. I got him a big shirt he uses as a nightgown and Daughter helped him get all the stuff off. He won a contest and brought home a bag of candy. He had another bag of candy too, I guess “just because”. I LOVE his school! He saw the new dominoes and was happy with them. YAY! HRH will let me continue drawing breath and serving his every whim.

Ben pretty much chilled with me on the bed until 3:30 or 3:45. I thought he’d gone to sleep at one point, he was so quiet. I ate some of Daughter’s tater wedgies and started falling into a Food Coma… I jerked myself out of that and got more coffee.

Around 4:15 Ben came back to my room to chill with me and Zeus. He launched himself, and cannonballed onto the bed. I guess he wanted to make sure I knew he was there.

Daughter will be cooking “white chicken” for Ben’s dinner pretty soon. After dinner will be the bath and bedtime. Things feel a LOT calmer today, it nice just to hang out and be mellow (cue Olivia Newton John).

Daughter is cooking now and Ben is “helping” or “supervising” or some such that requires him to be underfoot while she’s cooking. The evening is winding down, the Sun is slowly sinking into the west… (cue Annie Lennox singing Into The West).

One of my favorite songs! This acoustic version … Eddie Vedder… speechless

Black – Pearl Jam

Thanks for spending the second GLYSB day with us. That’s it for this week… no bus til Monday. Daughter seems to be getting a little better with the new meds. I’m pretty sure she’s planning on returning to work tomorrow night. I hope they can put her in an easy area, or light duty if she goes back. She’s still weak, and gets dizzy if she moves too fast. I think that’s it for planned events. Everything else we’ll just make up as we go along. The weather should be nice. Come hang out, wear your jammas or comfy clothes… we will be. Let’s have some Adventures, some laughs, and some fun! ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Oh good! I am glad she is feeling better. And I hear ya on the flopping. I married a flopper who has raised a sassy 75-pound flopper. I get so nervous about buying furniture with legs because of those two. Furniture needs to be on wide stumpy legs close to the floor to remain in one piece. Ben’s school is awesome! That is so cool he came home with goodies – and he got his dominoes! Sounds like a whole lot of happiness. Here’s hoping for a chill night and day tomorrow!

    1. He was super chill… after eating he went to his dirt hole and swept dirt into the air. Bath was the usual, repeating myself, hands on his shoulders, guiding him🙄🤦🏼‍♀️. I’m hoping he can be independent and get clean someday soon. He doesnt like showers, and I used to just put bubbles in the water figuring he’d get mostly clean from playing, but he doesn’t want bubbles anymore.🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess I should just be happy he allows us to get him clean. I know bathing is a struggle some carers have with autistic kids.

And what is with these floppers? Ben has a sensory excuse at least, Daughter… I don’t even know… Funny thing, the cat she rescued from the car engine, Diesel Cat, he doesn’t lay down like a cat. He stops and flops over on his side😂😂 Like a stunt cat or something. I seriously think he might’ve gotten too many fumes on that car ride, poor thing is always doing weird stuff… very un-cat-like.🤣🤣🤣 Even Daughter’s CAT is a flopper😂😂

Enjoy 2 more GLYSB days!💃🏼✨ You’re gonna need some peace…lots of it, especially with Miss Sass. Oh goodness, sassy daughters are great, once they’re about 19 or 20🤣🤣🤣💕💖

    1. Thanks, I hope Ben does alright with the drive and everything too. It’s been two weeks since she worked. Thankfully he doesn’t have school or anything Thursday morning, so if it comes down to it, we can throw him in the car in whatever state he’s in 🤣🤣🤣
I hope your Wednesday is wonderful!🤗🥰💌

    1. I have you to thank for reminding me of the song! You made reference to it in a post a while back, and dragged it out of the dust in the back of the memory storage. I was singing it this morning… it’s an earwormy song.
I came home from dropping Daughter at work with another earworm tonight… Brandy. Good song, but you feel bad… she’s such a fine girl…🤣
