Part 224 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Steak dinner for Ben was cooked and half eaten before the setting sun called him back to the dirt hole to sweep dirt into the air. I like to take pictures, he likes to see the light hit the dirt particles.

I did my Data Gathering until 5:45pm, then it was bath time. The Sun was below the current “horizon” at that point anyway. Bath went fine. He ate the rest of his steak while in his bathrobe. I got him into a nightgown and sock ‘n’ shoes, Daughter was getting herself ready. I took a few more pictures of the pretty before we had to leave at 6:20pm PDT.

We Drove Miss Daisy and drove back home. We were gone maybe twenty minutes, but that was enough time for the Big Dumb NAUGHTY Dog to get into the trash. He was just being a jerk. He went straight to Ben’s bed when we came in the house. I tucked The Boys in, told Zeus “NO Trash!” and that he was naughty. Can’t use the “B” word. I don’t want Ben to repeat it, and it’s not true. Zeus is a very Good Dawg, he’s just occasionally Naughty. Ben stayed awake for an hour or so, but he stayed in his room so all good.

I did the Things and most of the Stuff. Younger stopped by after work to pick up mail. She wound up staying about an hour, so that cancelled some Stuff from the list. After she left I texted with Older for a bit then I nuked a frozen bowl thingy. I hadn’t noticed it was from Banquet when I bought it… it tasted like it. I think I’ll stick with Amy’s, Marie Calendar’s and select Stouffers. I ate, took my pill, and konked near 1am I believe.

Ben did the yelling run-by around 6am. I was SOOO not ready to get up. It took me a few minutes to drag myself out of bed. I didn’t text Daughter that we were up until 6:15am. My Executive was MalFunctioning. I got Ben’s charger and water bottle from his room, put some kibble down for Zeus, and got coffee. I left Sven covered and went to look at the sky.

Venus was shining bright and color was just coming to the horizon. I took a couple pictures then went to get warmed up with coffee. Daughter texted that we should leave ten minutes later than usual, she was gonna talk to The Boss Man about the Halloween schedule thing. I went ahead and uncovered Sven and turned his lights on, leaving the blanket over most of the top to keep the warmth in. He was laying in the Pouting Corner looking unhappy to be woken up. I told him I understood, then took a picture. Rude, I know. I spent the rest of the time until 7:20 going outside to get sunrise pictures and coming in to check on Ben. At 7:20am we went to go get Daughter.

On the way home she told me The Boss Man fixed the schedule, so she works tonight, had two nights off, then works two nights, then has four or five nights off. Wonderful! After we got inside I went to take a picture of the Sun. There is obviously a gap in the sunrise photos, but I can’t take pictures of the lead up and not get one of the Big Event.

Ben and I settled on the couch and Daughter went to her room to watch her shows. Ben had me writing “The End” and “A Walt Disney Production”, but it had to be EXACTLY like the type in Kung Fu Panda. There was much Huffing and Puffing and threats of splattered grey matter, but I finally got it done and cut out. I also got Sven some fresh greens and a couple more blueberries to go with the leftover ones and the FOUR surviving worms. I moved Sven where his dish was, then took pictures of him missing, getting a piece of greens and dropping back in the dish. Then he sat there and glared at me. I tried moving the greens so he could get to the worms, but I wasn’t going to make it TOO easy for him.

Daughter came out around 9am to tell me she was still awake. Duh, thanks for the update Captain Obvious. Ben decided he needed soda. I told him he drank them all yesterday, reminded him that I’d told him it was the last one when I opened the last one with his dinner last night. Yeah, he didn’t care about my excuses, he wanted soda. He made it clear that he was going to keep asking until he got a soda. He would’ve too. I told Daughter I was walking to the market. When I got back Ben was out in the dirt hole. He stayed out there until 10:30am. Perfect timing, coming in right on time for meds. Face Doped, he settled on the couch next to me.

The rest of the morning was pretty mellow. I was required to fetch sodas and he kept asking for “more Pink Cookies”, even though I told him every time that we didn’t have any more, just the THREE boxes sitting on the table. He even watched me write it on the grocery list. I told him they only come from Vons and the next time I got to Vons I will get more. He tried to tell me to get dressed and go to the store, but he knew it wasn’t happening. Not today.

At 2pm Daughter came out to take over Couch Sittin Duty. I was semi-dozing. I had a difficult time staying awake all day. The vibe was chill, the weather was warming up and I only slept five hours the night before. Plus I ate some Doritos (trying to get more calories) and as previously stated, food=Food Coma for whatever reason. Its probably another reason I don’t eat more often. I don’t have the time to nap whenever. Maybe when I run away from home in ten or less years, I can work naps into my plan. Find a public park, rest area, or just a pretty spot on the side of the road.

After Daughter took over, I went to get Horizontal. That’s when I really started dozing. Even with Ben coming in and Bouncing me every so often, I couldn’t stay awake. I didn’t go to sleep either… I just drifted. It’s a lovely feeling, but I had Stuff I wanted to do, and it wasn’t getting done. At 3:30pm Ben asked for Pink Cookies again and I told him, again, they were on the list.

I managed to stay awake after that. Mostly because I made myself sit up, but partly because my Plaque Psoriasis was itching like crazy. This dry weather is really irritating an already flared situation. Happy World Psoriasis Day!

Daughter ordered a delivery of Jack In The Box. I’d told her I’d been subjected to several ads from there in a game I was playing. The ad was for Loaded Curly Fries, and by the fifth or eighth time I saw the ad, they were looking better and better. I guess she decided I needed to eat Loaded Curly Fries, or Jack In The Box sounded good to her. She got regular Curly Fries for Ben. Maybe that will end the Pink Cookies nagging.

I heard Daughter asking Ben if he wanted Pizza or “orange chicken” for dinner. He said pizza, so I guess that will be going in the toaster oven soon. It’s getting to be Pregame Show time. I’m hoping that Driving Miss Daisy goes as easily tonight as it did last night.

I heard this on the way to get Daughter from work this morning. Love The Ramones! I got to see them with Modern English, Bow Wow Wow, Stray Cats and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers on April 23, 1983.

Blitzkrieg Bop – The Ramones

I was very glad to have you along for our Adventures today. Another “Kiddie Ride” day, but that’s the way, uh huh, uh huh, I like it! I think we’ve all had more chaos and drama than we wanted this year. Besides, this is still Casa Cuckoo and even our mellow days have Adventures. Tomorrow’s big Adventure is picking Daughter up from work… exciting stuff! We’ll find other stuff to get into, fun to have, giggles and belly laughs to enjoy. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. I have the same food come issues as you – right after I eat I feel as if I am in zombie land. I notice it more when I have not eaten in a while and body “wakes up” and has to digest something. Seems to take my whole body to focus on that one thing, so everything else just shuts down. Declan loves that Ramones song too – it was at the end of Spiderman Homecoming. He had left the theater when Spiderman was in trouble, but was willing to come back in for the happy end. And then the song played and he fell in love. We even put it on his “mix tape” of favorites. Great song! Sounds like a great concert you saw too! Well, here’s hoping for an easy night for you and a great day ahead!

    1. I can just picture Declan jumping around to Blitzkrieg Bop yelling Hey Ho, Let’s Go!😂😂 Love it!
Ben is having a sleep issues day… he got me up at 1:45am. 🤷🏼‍♀️Unfortunately, it occasionally happens. Thank goodness Daughter is off tonight so if he falls asleep we can let him be.

    1. I need to stop procrastinating and find a rheumatologist so I can get treatment. It’s spread to my entire body now. I need a personal assistant to take care of all these things for me while I’m busy write “The End”😂😂😂
      Hope your Friday is Fantastic!🤗🥰💃🏼🦜🦋✨

    1. I think the smoke is coming down here. I’ve been smelling a stinky smell and yesterday morning when I picked Daughter up from work I could see a funk hanging over the valley I live in. I’ve had a low grade headache for days too.
Fires are really bad this year. I dont remember the smoke hanging around like this before. Weather is all kinds of jacked up!
Hopefully the winds blow the smoke away without fanning the fires. I can hope…😏💕

    1. Thank you, Sadje! Sleep is on the decline… Mr Bootyhead got me up at 1:45am today. It happens, unfortunately. He’s awake and that’s that. Thankfully, Daughter is off work tonight so if he falls asleep in the middle of the day we can let him sleep and not deal with a grumpy King.😂
      🤗🥰💕

  2. I almost didn’t get to comment tonight cause I fell asleep immediately after eating. EJ could not do without apples and so I would try to stay stocked up at all times. I still had to limit how many so he wasn’t giving himself the runs. I moved the couch yesterday and found an apple core that never made it to the trash. Stinker! Stuff like that is bitter sweet. I miss his negotiating everything with “first—, then shopping movies.” Finally we somehow taught him to be okay with “we will see”. Hope you get some solid zzzz’s tonight. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

    1. Too funny!! I konked in the middle of commenting on your post. Dont know if you noticed the delay. It really should’ve been a longer delay but Ben kindly woke me up at 1:45am.
Little Bootyhead was UP! I tried to keep him in bed with me. That lasted almost an hour… I was ready to get up to get away from the wiggle-jiggles 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️
I wish Ben would eat apples. Every once in a while he’ll eat carrots. We keep trying 🤷🏼‍♀️

  3. This is a perfect plan: “Maybe when I run away from home in ten or less years, I can work naps into my plan. Find a public park, rest area, or just a pretty spot on the side of the road.”

There are SO many times when I am on the verge of telling Partner “it’s not you, so relax, but I am going to rent a no wi-fi cabin in the middle of nowhere and just sleep for 30 days. That’s it. Sleep.

    1. Yep! Sounds like a dream vacation to me! In my 30s is when sleep really became a problem. In my 20s I had the girls, but I could still sleep. In my 30s, the Fibromyalgia hit and all kinds of other stuff hit, and chronic insomnia became my constant companion.
I’ve forgotten what it’s like to fall asleep like regular human, and to wake up naturally… on my own?? when I’m rested?? Ah, maybe someday…🤗🥰

    1. I ate chili cheese curly fries AND mini tacos. Probably a couple thousand calories in those two little boxes.😂 It was good. Probably better when fresh, but the only take out that’s good the next day, or later the same day, is pizza.🤷🏼‍♀️💕
