If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Ben ate his steak and I cleaned up the chalk mess. That was after taking pictures of the pretties.
Ben had meds at 5:50pm then I went to the grocery store. Daughter did his bath and put him to bed. By the time I got home, I wasn’t feeling well. Eating part of my Rice and Beans, plus a couple bites of cheese enchiladas before rushing off to the store, where I was hot, then cold, then warm again… I just felt yucky in my tummy. I laid down, and started to doze after a few minutes. Nawp! None of that. I had Things, and Stuff to do. I got myself upright, feeling a little better. Then did Stuff, and ate. Things could wait. Around 10:15pm I was eating a Kit Kat and konked… pill-less. I took the pill when I woke up for a while at 2am.
The the Bounce and wiggling theft of my body heat occurred at the ridiculous time of 4:15am! UGH!! I would’ve sent him to Daughter, but she was awake still at 2am when I woke up, and she has work tonight.
We stayed in my bed and when I dozed, he snatched my phone. I heard the sound of my game and at first it was okay, but he started using all my potions and doing stuff I didn’t want him to do. I told him to stop. He said “It’s fine.” I told him it wasn’t fine, knock it off. I put my tablet within reach, and offered to download the game on his tablet. Again with the “It’s fine.” I told him if he didn’t stop I was gonna take the phone back. He said “Don’t do that!” He always says that when I threaten to leave to room, take something away, or stop doing something he wants me to do… “Don’t do that!” means he’s at least paying attention to what I’m saying. Anyway, he closed out of the game, and gave me the phone.
Then it was time to move to the living room… at 5:15am. Cold and ridiculous! Coffee Dragon is the first place I stopped. Then I went to see Venus, and take her picture. I watched the sunrise, took a few pictures, but the best part was seeing my seagull fly over, and circle around when I called out Good Morning. After it circled it continued on its way south. It came back about forty-five minutes later, bringing its friend/mate. I heard the calling of a gull voice and went to the kitchen window. I said Good Morning again, acknowledging the friend/mate and thanking them for visiting.
I uncovered Sven and turned his lights on around 7:30am. He closed his eyes so I let him be. I put three worms in the dish, figuring they’d burrow under the greens and make them move, entice Sven to eat. About a half hour later, I noticed he was standing by the dish. When I got up to talk to him, I saw he had a front foot IN the dish again… no sign of the worms, and no visible berries either. I got a few more berries to try to get him to eat some greens. (He usually gets the greens by mistake, aiming for a berry, but he GETS greens) I took a few pictures, but he gave me The Glare pretty quickly.
Ben was in a good mood, but pretty hyper. Even after his 6:30am meds, he was loud and bouncing. Zeus was just ad bad. I kept telling them to chill out, and shushing Ben. Zeus got jealous when I was talking to the pair of gulls, the Big Dummy! He kept trying to get in my lap, or get in my face. No way! I’d seen him outside, hunting for “snacks”… dogs are SOOO gross! I certainly didn’t want him in my face with his nasty breath. Both Boys finally settled down around 9am. Ben did the Chalk Thang, and Zeus laid on the end of the chaise, under my legs.
The mellow vibe held for the rest of the morning. Ben mostly did his thing with the chalk, in three different areas. I swept up chalk dust, and moved loose chalk into piles when he switched areas. While he did chalk, I did WP. I actually got caught up. A minor miracle there. Around 11:15am I put Sven in the shower. He blissed out, and I left him to it. I started getting dozey just before noon and went to get Sven out of the shower. I took him outside for some sunshine, and he kindly posed for pictures.
He darkens himself to absorb more sunlight. It doesn’t mean he’s upset. And when he opens his mouth like that, it’s to regulate his temperature, even though it looks like a smile. A smile with a bit of greens stuck in his “teeth”. Poor Sven…
Daughter got up to take over around 12:15pm. I said “Hello there”. She said “I didn’t fall asleep until 4am.” I told her to relax, I knew she was still awake at 2am, when I woke at 2am I saw her. I told her it was no biggie. I also told her she must’ve konked out right before Ben got up, that he’d been in bed with me at 4:15am. Anyway, she took over Couch Sittin Duty and I got Horizontal.
The afternoon continued as the morning had… mellow! Ben was back and forth between the living room and my room, sometimes outside in the dirt hole. He played, Daughter watched something on her laptop and complained about not wanting to work, and I did stuff on my phone, harvested some pecans and looked for feathers.
At 3:30pm I started the Sciencey part of my picture taking. Like today’s top pictures, one standing on the chair, one standing by the back gate. It’s the back gate one that will really show the movement over the next month. I may drop the chair one. We’ll see…
And now we’re counting down to Driving Miss Daisy time. Younger Daughter is off work and available to come sit with Ben if he gets too tired. He’s out in the dirt hole now. He can come in and eat “orange chicken” when it gets dark. I’ll be watching the sky as the Sun sinks behind the western hills, and eventually, into the Pacific. Then the regular Work Night routine.
Feeling a little nostalgic today… great singer and a great song to fit the mood.
Today started WAY too early, and was WAY too loud and busy before 9am. There was some pretty cool stuff too. Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with us. Tomorrow’s agenda includes picking Daughter up from work in the morning and taking her to work in the evening… and laughter, always laughter. Hopefully the rest of the day will be like today. We’ll find out together… ¡Hasta mañana!

You’re getting quite professional with the photo taking Angie. All are great shots. I think it’s like tempting fate when we go to sleep later, we have to wake up early! Hope tonight it is better. Hugs.

Thank you! I can’t wait til I have a real camera!
It doesn’t matter when I go to sleep… Ben is just contrary! He sleeps in when we need to get up early, and wakes up at 4am when we’ve got nothing to do🙄🤦🏼♀️Little Stinker!🤷🏼♀️🤗🥰💕

Aren’t all kids like that? Up early on weekends and sleeping in late on weekdays.

That’s so cool that the gulls come back like that. Makes me feel like I need to pay more attention to what is going on in my back yard. Sounds like Ben was relatively calm playing around today. Hopefully it leads to good sleep tonight. Sven is cute when he puts his arms in his dish. Does he have better aim that way? Congrats 👏 on catching up on WordPress.

Sven never has good aim. He gets lucky sometimes but…🤷🏼♀️ I dont know why he steps in his food. When we had a smaller dish for him, he’d lay across it, walk in it… 🤷🏼♀️ Sven is Sven… just like Ben is Ben😂😂😂
It’s amazing the things you notice when you really start looking at what’s around you. I’m having so much fun with all of this stuff!! Totally geeking out! 💃🏼😁💕🦋✨💫🌙🌌🌠

Your seagull genuinely seems to enjoy the interactions with you – like the fact they’ve started introducing their friends! Your photos of Sven always make me smile. I’m settling Tufty down for his annual hibernation today, so I’ll miss him for the next three months. 🙂

At least you know when the hibernation will occur. Sven just randomly brumates. In summer! I worry about him every year, but I’m glad I recognize that pattern. He IS good for a giggle.😂💕

Ugh – that is an early morning. Bobby had a sleep over last night so the dogs, who sleep with him, were whiny this early morning in his room. So, I went and slept with them. It was early, but all I had to do was claim some space on that little bed with two dogs (avoid the kisses because I too know where their mouths have been) and get some shut eye. Until Declan realized I was gone and then he squished in too. It wasn’t the most restful sleep but it was more sleep! Hopefully you got a bit more sleep last night! I hope you guys have a great day today!

These animals…🙄🤦🏼♀️ makes you wonder who is Master and who is Pet, right?!🤣🤣🤣 I did get a little more sleep last night, thanks. Not enough, but it’s never enough. GLYSB Day tomorrow!!💃🏼🎉 💕

Ugh! That’s so early. And it’s so cold these days.
Glad Ben gave you back your phone.
All is fine here. Beautiful Sunday.
Better let my baby chicks out to play outside.
Have a great day Angie.

Perhaps it’s time that we give Gull and FriendMate some actual character names? We could come up with some cute little stories. “Reynaldo and Lucia stopped by for coffee this morning…”

Another reader said Gull needs a name and I asked if Johnathan Livingston was too obvious😆
Reynaldo & Lucia are good. I’ll have to try out some different names and see what they respond to. I wish they’d come a little closer so I could see if they have distinguishable markings. Maybe when I get my new camera I can magnify and see better.
I do wonder what the rush was this morning. The crows were making all kinds of noise… some kind of Avian Emergency or Convention or something 🤔🤷🏼♀️
