Part 241 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

I did the Science part at 3:30pm, then the pretties as it got darker.

Ben ate all the “orange chicken” Daughter made, then said “more, please” I told him to go tell Mom and she’d make more. He did, she did, and he ate all of the second batch. He was a Starvin Marvin! By then it was meds, then bath time. Then, Driving Miss Daisy time, and home to bed.

Things and Stuff… nuked a Stouffers lasagne, with extra cheese on top, of course. Did WP and started an email to a friend. I kept dozing and yawning and dozing… it took me about two hours to complete and send the email. I should’ve just stopped, written “dozing, to be continued (TBC)…” and sent it, then slept. I fully admit to being not so smart sometimes. I DID finish eating and take my pill after sending it. I even made one last trip to the baño, then got snuggly and konked. Sometimes I AM smart.

The alarm I set for 6am went off and woke me. I knew that since we had to be up to get Daughter from work, Ben would sleep in. I could’ve waited for the 6:30 med alarm, but I like to have some peace in the morning if possible. I got up, let Zeus out of Ben’s room, started the coffee (see… smart) and headed to the baño. About thirty seconds later, Ben was pounding on the door, saying “Ben to go potty.” Of course he was. I got out of the bathroom and Bless his little heart, he played in front of the mirror for a couple minutes while I was getting his stuff from his room. Much Huffing and Puffing followed with Ben finally getting out of the bathroom so I could go back in.

I took some sunrise pictures, but I’d missed Venus. I really don’t mind missing Venus, she rises much earlier than I prefer. I said Good Morning to all the birds, mostly crows and wondered where the gulls were. The pair did do a quick, high fly-by, headed west but they didn’t stop. A single gull came back later and circled, really high again. No landing and posing today. At least they did a quick visit, right?!

We went to get Daughter at 7:15am. No line of cars this morning… we never found out what Friday morning was about. It was still chilly this morning… the car said it was 45°F (7°C). Anyway, got Daughter, came home, yadda yadda yadda…

I’d left Sven covered since it was still chilly. After we got home I uncovered and lit him. I got him fresh food and moved him closer. He did the “smile” thing again, but then just laid there. I guess he wasn’t into early food today.

When everything was done and I was ready to start going through WP, Ben decided it was Arts and Crafts time. I built two new “Searchlights”… irritatingly, one step at a time. He wouldn’t just give me all the pieces. That would’ve had me finish them quickly… can’t have that now, can we?!? I skipped the grey matter splatter speech… no point. I was finally released to pursue my own interests at 9:45am. HRH is a kind, and benevolent monarch.

The 10:30am med was delivered in the dirt hole. He just keeps digging, and sweeping, and digging. It keeps him happy and keeps him from busting stuff. We’re going to have to get some fill dirt at some point, but that’s further down the road. I’m trying to get through today, right now, this minute. I went to my room for some Horizontal Time while he was occupied outside. No sense being uncomfortable on the couch if he wasn’t in the living room. (see… smart)

Around 11:15am he banged into the side of the house, I yelled “Hey!” then he threw himself on the ground in front of the side door. I said “Oh dear!” and went to “help” him get up, and into the house. He fell onto the couch and I went to get my stuff so I could resume Couch Sittin Duty.

Ben paced and paced until he saw some domino size blocks set up as a stepped platform… “I need tape!” I said okay and waited for him to elaborate. He brought the eighteen domino blocks over, in sets of two. Ugh! The piece by piece style of Arts and Crafts drives me bonkers! Twenty minutes of taping later, I handed him the three step thingy and he set it down and went on with whatever he was doing then. BLESS HIS HEART!

Daughter got up and took over at 1:30pm. I asked why she was up so early. She said cuz she was awake. Yeah… I guess so. I wasn’t complaining. I was more than happy to let her take over Couch Sittin Duty. I was ready for some more Horizontal Time. It got warm too… 87°F (31°C) according to the Guessers. I knew it felt warm, and really dry (12% humidity according to the Guessers). No crazy wind though, so not a Santa Ana, which is good. It’s still Fire Season until the rains come… IF they come… this is 2020 after all.

The Sciencey part of sunset was documented at 3:30pm, the Sun has passed beyond my viewing for the day. There are no clouds, so I don’t expect anything dramatic in this evenings sunset. I’ll be watching either way… it IS my favorite time. Soon it will be time for Ben’s dinner and bath, then Driving Miss Daisy. Hopefully a mellow evening to follow our mellow day.

Heard it on the radio picking Daughter up this morning.

Walking On A Dream – Empire Of The Sun

Another basically mellow day. I’m very happy you shared it with us! Tomorrow is a GLYSB Day! WOOT WOOT! Unfortunately we’ll be Driving Miss Daisy tonight and tomorrow morning before we can wave bye-bye, then Happy Dance up the driveway. It’s supposed to be warm tomorrow afternoon, like it was today, according to the Guessers. Hoodie and sweats to shorts and tank top in one day. Lots of laundry… I see a visit to the Quarter Lady in my future… not tomorrow though. Tomorrow is for relaxing, maybe napping. That’s after the Happy Dancing, of course. Plenty of opportunities for Adventure before and after school… ¡Hasta mañana!

    1. Thanks Sadje, but I can admit that sometimes I’m not smart.🤷🏼‍♀️It happens😘😆 But yes, I have my Things, and my Stuff, and I’m working on not getting my knickers in a twist if it doesn’t all get done. 😉💕🤗🥰

    1. Thanks! 12% is dry, we’ve had dryer… this part of SoCal gets very little anual rainfall and ALL of our water comes from the Colorado River. There wouldn’t be near as many people here if water wasnt imported. It’s why we all grow up learning not to waste water.
It’s playing hell with my psoriasis 🙄☹ so itchy!
HAPPY DANCING at 7:30am PST … if the driver remembers this time😂😂😂💕🦋💃🏼✨

  2. That last photo of Sven, with the smile, is really cute, even if he didn’t immediately get to dining on his nosh. And the greens and blueberries? They look delish. Send em my way if he ignores them for much longer… 😉

    1. Shall I skip the worms, or would you like them too? 🤣🤣🤣 Sven really does seem to have tons of personality. People don’t expect it from reptiles… Casa Cuckoo draws the oddball animals, or living in proximity to us turns them odd. Either way, it’s good for a giggle😂🐱🐶🐱🦎💕

  3. You made a lot of smart moves 🙂 Made me laugh 🙂 Sounds like a pretty good day! And the GLYSB comes this morning which is awesome. I hope you have a great day getting to do whatever you want to and are not stuck taping the arts and crafts together 🙂

    1. It would be nice if we could even it out a little, wouldn’t it? I wasn’t thrilled when it was cold and raining either.
I’m just a spoiled SoCal girl😂 I’ve spent the past 52 years in weather that wasn’t really a thought… mostly it’s nice. My “winter clothes” are ugg boots, sweat pants, fuzzy socks and a thicker hoodie. 😂 I have an actual jacket but almost never wear it. It does get ridiculously hot in summer and it seems that it’s getting more extreme. ☹
