Part 246 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Mother Nature put on quite a show last night. I don’t know how many steps I took between the back gate in the southeast and a new spot I found in the northwest corner, but I was in constant motion it seemed. The sky kept changing and I wanted to capture ALL the beauty… so I could share it with all of you.

Daughter cooked steak for Ben but he was too busy doing the chalk thing to eat. At 6pm I went out to see if he was ready for his bath. Nope! Still doing chalk. I got some steak on the fork and put it in his mouth. Daughter knows that we have to do that sometimes to get him started… I fed him a couple more bites, then he fed himself while I ran his bath. It took many, many, MANY prompts to get him to stop the chalk and go to the baรฑo. Eventually HRH and Dogzilla were tucked in and kissed… yes, Zeus got a kiss too, on top of his head.

Then I changed my slippers for uggs, my beater hoodie for a public hoodie, put on my mask and headed for Vons, my local grocery store. I was after Pink Cookies and Blue Ramen and a few other things. Everything I wanted was in stock and I was home thirty or forty-five minutes later.

Things, Stuff, email, food, pills… snoring and drooling.

The 6:30am med alarm woke me. The house was quiet so I turned it off and dozed. About twenty minutes later I got bedquaked and sniffed, but no heat-stealing “cuddles”. I heard him run past my door and thought he must have a Potty Emergency. Then BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! Ugh! Kicking the front door. Daughter and I both came out of our rooms, yelling for him to stop, stop, stop already. Once we were both up, he went to the bathroom. Another day begun at Casa Cuckoo.

Daughter got her stuff to do Couch Sittin Duty. I looked to see if any of the birds were still around. It was 7am and I’d missed their sunrise serenade. As I’ve written before, I really don’t mind missing sunrise… sleep is good!

I discovered a terrible thing… my Coffee Dragon had passed on. No burble and hissing… it was a very sad morning. I had to pour boiling water from the kettle over the coffee grounds before I could have my first cuppa. And I had to nuke each refill, since the warmer plate didn’t keep the pot warm. A new Coffee Dragon will be arriving on Wednesday.

The morning was NOT off to a great start. I’d gotten a decent nights sleep, that was a good thing… Ben was in a blanket tent with his tablet, being chill, that was another good thing… I didn’t have to do Couch Sittin Duty, another good thing… focus on the good.

Around 9am I peeked at Sven. His eye was partially open, so I uncovered and lit him. He wasn’t pleased. I left him to see if he’d move on his own, and went to put laundry in the washer. After the load was done, I hung a few things and brought the rest inside and put it by the door. I took the bath rugs and put them in the washer, then scrubbed the toilet. Daughter has to do the tub… I can’t reach to scrub, and our tub is so small that squatting in it to clean it would be really awkward. The sink and counter get wiped by both of us periodically.

After the Throne was sparkly clean, I checked on Sven. He Glared. I told him the Glare wasn’t gonna work, his fans missed him. Did he really want to be backup to Dogzilla? He Glared. I got his dish, dumped everything except the three worms, cleaned it and got fresh greens and blueberries, which were getting kinda wrinkly. (WallyWorld was out of blueberries and I forgot to get them at Vons.) I put the dish in the terrarium, moved Mr Grumpy Beard closer, then dumped the worms on top. I closed the lid and went around to paparazzi. He Glared. Fine! I left and checked on him later. He was happier and berries were missing. I paparazzi’d. He Glared. Sigh…

Around 12:15 I took the clothes over to the dryers. Daughter had thrown her stuff in after the rugs were done. Anyway, Quarter Lady was there, but she was on the phone and folding some stuff. I don’t think she even saw me. I tried to catch her eye when I got change and when I bought some dryer sheets from the vending machine (something else I forgot to get, from BOTH stores…), and Nada. She was chatting away and laughing. It must’ve been a good conversation. I took my quarters and dryer sheets and loaded the clothes into the dryers and fed the quarters in. Then I went next door to 7-11 to get milk cuz Daughter called to say our milk had gone bad and she was making some Kraft mac and cheese. Home and Horizontal until the dryers were done.

At 1:30 I went back to get the clothes… no Quarter Lady. No Cleaner Lady, no Lady, or Gentleman for that matter. The “office” area was open, so someone was there, somewhere, but no one I recognized. Humph! Another anti-climactic experience at the laundromat.

Ben was outside when I got home. He was playing with the box of used chalk that I’d put outside. The idea was for him to bust it up and sweep it. Get some kinda use out if it. I understand his desire for new boxes to do his Thang with, but we have three full boxes of used chalk. If he doesn’t bust them up, I will. Or I’ll just toss them in the dirt hole. Anyway, he was content, and being good. I folded and put away the clothes, mostly Ben’s, from my basket and grabbed the rugs and put them in the bathroom. Then I got Horizontal again. Daughter said she was gonna go lay down for a couple hours. I asked her when she was gonna get up, and she said 4pm. I said “okay, then I don’t need to worry about his dinner then.” She said “correct.” and off she went.

When the 2:30pm med alarm went off, I refilled Ben’s water bottle, got the meds and took them out to him where he was playing with the old chalk. I left his water bottle outside with him. I went back inside and got Horizontal again. I was trying to get through my WP Reader. I actually achieved this at 3:15pm. I had ten minutes before I needed to take my Science pictures from the back gate.

Ben came inside around 4pm and asked me to go to the living room with him, so I grabbed my stuff and went. Daughter came out about fifteen minutes later and took over Couch Sittin Duty. She’ll be fixing him something to eat soon, and then we’ll be getting ready to Drive Miss Daisy. Right now, I’m gonna go watch sunset…

Yeah… what she says!

Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken – P!nk

Thanks for hanging out and doing laundry with us. Fun stuff, right?! Tomorrow’s agenda includes picking Daughter up from work and a bunch of Couch Sittin Duty. Try not to get too excited before tomorrow. I’m sure some other stuff will happen… it usually does. ยกHasta maรฑana!

  1. Oh my gosh, I know the pain of losing a coffee maker when you are not anticipating it, and boy, that sucks! I have moved on to tea, coffee was hurting my tummy in the AM but I have been in your shoes before. Hours after mine broke I was buying a new one. I hope your new one gets there soon. New coffee makers and vacuums make my day because when they are right out of the box on their first use they are the best at what they do. Sven looks like he is posing for a photo – love it! He has a regal look about him in the last photo ๐Ÿ™‚ It is the weekend! Here is hoping for a nice chill couple of days before the strange week ahead!

    1. I keep forgetting that Thanksgiving is on Thursday๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜† Daughter always works… I think we’re cooking on Monday or Tuesday. Should be interesting with a broken oven. We have an electric roaster for the bird, I’m gonna do the cheesy taters in the crock pot, the green bean casserole can be nuked, then shoved in the toaster oven to crisp up the French’s Onions. The rolls can be warmed in the toaster oven too. No pie, but we’re not big on pie anyway.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ
Our home district closes for the entire week, but Ben’s school will be open… not sure how that’s gonna work and Daughter never called transportation. GRRR! She’s very frustrating at times. I guess we sit out front and hope someone comes… if not, we’ll get in the car and drive him.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚He’s going!!!
Younger just got a new Beardie. A baby, and he’s SOOO cute! I always look at the babies when I getting worms for Sven. A 40 gallon tank takes up a lot of room or I’d have gotten another one already. They really are fun pets!๐ŸฆŽ๐Ÿ’•

    1. Thanks. I could go to Target or something and get a different one sooner, but Daughter went straight to Amazon and ordered one while I was telling her.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I don’t think she was expecting it to take so long… and it does seem kinda long๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ oh well. I can keep making it like I did this morning.
Must be “Dragon” anti cooperation month or something ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸฆŽโ˜•๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒป

  2. My sympathies on the sad demise of your coffee maker. It is such a sad morning when you canโ€™t get your usual fix. I think your pictures are fantastic. Hope tomorrow is another chillin day. Hugs ๐Ÿค— and โค๏ธ

    1. Thank you for your condolences. It was very sad to see the Coffee Dragon lifeless. It gave great pleasure for a couple years.โ˜•๐Ÿ‰โ˜น
The sky has been really pretty the past couple nights.
      I hope you’re enjoying your Saturday! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒปโ˜•๐Ÿ’ซ

  3. Gorgeous pictures! Iโ€™m glad you slept through the sunrise ๐ŸŒ… . No laundry drama is a good thing. My parents drove up several hours and showed up at my door today. Iโ€™ve got some clarity for my next steps. Iโ€™m going to work on packing and downsizing and Iโ€™m move to the city, Lord willing. Helps to have goals.

    1. Moving to the city? Is that a good thing? I guess it must be if you’re doing it.
I wouldn’t be very happy if my mother just showed up. The only person that can get away with just showing up is Younger Daughter. I’m as grumpy as Sven otherwise. I like my hermit life๐Ÿ˜‰
No sleeping through sunrise Saturday, or Sunday… gotta get Daughter from work. And with no Coffee Dragon, its gonna take longer to get my morning fix๐Ÿ˜‰โ˜•
      Good luck with KonMari-ing!๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’•

      1. I need to manage without a car. So the city it is. My parents came today to change the tires on my car. I have a driveway to shovel and a lawn to mow. Needing help keeps me dependent on the wrong people.

    1. I think I’m showing remarkable restraint by not going out and buying a new Coffee Dragon immediately.๐Ÿ˜‰ heating water in a kettle, them pouring it over the grounds isnt the same. It doesn’t taste the same, which is weird but true.
      Cant wait for Wednesday!โ˜•๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ
