Part 247 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Mother Nature put on quite a show again…

Ben had pizza for dinner, but only ate one piece. Meds and bath were on time and we Drove Miss Daisy without incident. Got back home and I took the other three pieces of pizza to his room when I tucked him in. He grabbed a piece and started munching right away. I knew he was still hungry… plus, “med munchies”. I covered him, kissed him and said “Goodnight” to him and Dogzilla. Then I texted Daughter to let her know we were home.

Things, Stuff, yadda yadda yadda… I konked near midnight.

I woke up around 5am. The house was quiet and I stayed in bed, slowly waking up the rest of the way. I put the kettle on the stove to get the water boiling, put coffee in the lifeless Dragon, made my pit stop and went to look at the sky… and my jaw dropped! Just… WOW!

I had opened Ben’s bedroom door to let Zeus out when I got up. I found Ben quietly standing behind me when I turned to come back in the house from taking pictures at the gate… little creeper. It was right around 6:30am, so I doped his face. I’d made coffee too. A lot of back and forth steps again. Anyway, after talking to Georgie and Gracie for a few minutes, it was time to go get Daughter.

We pulled up just as she was walking out, she jumped in, said “Hurry! Get me away from here!” I said “That good, huh?!” So after saying hello to Ben, she told me about her shift. We got home, went inside, greeted poor Zeus, who’d been alone for twenty-five whole minutes. Poor Zeus…

Daughter went to her room, Ben and I settled on the couch. Then Ben turned Svens lights on and uncovered him cuz he wanted to play with some of his Arts and Crafted projects. I probably should mention that the movie on repeat is currently Fantasia. Ben has had a fascination with the conductor, standing on his three-step stage, since he was age three or four. Like ALL his fascinations, it comes back around periodically. The other fascination he’s currently indulging from Fantasia is the “soundtrack” scene

Ben can quote the entire scene, including the sounds of the instruments. Anyway, he wanted to set up his “stage”, made from taped together domino size blocks. Then he took off outside to the dirt hole. It was a Crackerjack SpazmaTaz ADHD morning.

I took the first picture of Sven right after Ben uncovered him. After Ben was in the dirt hole, I got Sven some fresh greens, then dumped the berries and three worms on top. I moved Sven closer to the dish before adding the berries and worms. I paparazzi’d him for a couple minutes but he just Glared at me. I got three new worms from the twenty or so living in a different dish, unaware they are on borrowed time, and dropped them, one at a time, on top of the greens. The new worms didn’t burrow down right away, and Sven was suddenly interested.

He got irritated with the paparazzi-ing and just looked at me. I told him that his fans would be pleased, and left him alone. I think if those original three worms are still there in the morning, I’ll turn them loose by the pecan tree. They’ve earned their freedom, evading Mr Grumpy Beard for several days.

Ben stayed in the dirt hole until around 9:45am, then came back inside, after I “helped” him. He’d positioned himself, laying on his back on the ground, with his head hanging over the hole, yelling “HELP! HELP! HELP!” Anyway, I went to “help” him just to make him quit yelling. He was right outside Daughter’s room, and I didn’t want him to wake her. We went inside and he spent the next hour pacing and twitching. Meds weren’t due until 10:30am, and I didn’t want to make the afternoon more difficult by giving his meds early. Finally around 11am he settled down enough to sit and watch his tablet and eat some Blue Ramen.

We just hung out… me doing Couch Sittin Duty, occasionally fetching a soda or taping something. He played or watched his tablet… just chillin. Daughter took over at 2:15pm and I went to my room to do some sewing. You read that right… SEWING. Nothing fancy, just some repair work. Ben has a Tigger onesie jammas that had a zipper butt. The zipper broke, so I stitched it together in a few spots, just to hold it closed. The crotch was also ripped out… it’s old and probably too small but he likes to wear it still. I fixed it up. By the time I was done, it was 3:25pm and time for Science Data Gathering. So I went and took pictures.

Soon it will be time for actual sunset. The past couple days when I’ve gone out at 3:30ish to do Science, I’ve noticed there are two or three planes crossing the sky over the valley of my city, leaving trails. You can see them in the Science pictures. Those trails dissipating add to sunset the past few nights and it’s got me wondering… No Conspiracy Theories, there’s a small airport close by and it could be students… but why the trails? Why at sunset?

After the sunset will be all the getting Ben ready to Drive Miss Daisy, then the actual driving… it’s about to be busy for a couple hours.

I heard this on the radio when I went to get Daughter this morning. I love this song… kinda fits with my new profession of Astronomy Scientist too.

Major Tom – Peter Schilling

Thanks for hanging out with us! Lots of pictures today, I can’t seem to help myself. I want to share all the cool stuff with you. I found a grasshopper today in the Pecan tree, I decided you probably didn’t want to see those pictures. The gulls have names, thanks for all your suggestions. I tried out most of them. Tomorrows agenda is picking Daughter up and that’s it so far. I’m sure something else will happen… it always does, doesn’t it?! ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Sven has such expressions! Hooray for him getting a worm! I love the gull names. They’re perfect. 😊 Major Tom is a great song 🎶. What time is sunset there? I guess I didn’t realize it was so early for you. Hope everything goes well with the evening routine and you get some good sleep tonight. Hugs 🧸🌅🚀🧩🍪☕️🫐🌛🍄🐉💃💞

    1. The Sun goes behind the western hills around 4:30pm PST… actual sunset is about 15 minutes later… 4:43pm is the time the sun sinks into the Pacific Ocean.
Daughter was safely delivered to the hospital and Ben is in bed. Younger is supposed to come by at some point🤷🏼‍♀️ Casa Cuckoo… something happening all the time😂😂😂

    1. Thanks! I went a little crazy with the pictures😂😂😂 I’m always in awe of how beautiful the changing colors are… and all the birds flying around. I’ve noticed sunrise moving too… but I’m not prepared to commit to getting up every morning to document it😉 I’m glad when I miss it. 😂😂 I’ll be watching it tomorrow, gotta get Daughter from work.
      Enjoy your Sunday!🤗🥰💕💫✨

      1. You’re welcome!
The way the sky changes colors at dawn and dusk are always a treat to watch. The sunrise is also changing along with sunset. But we’re good with the days you’ve collected.

    1. A glossary? Hmmm… I could add a page, but other than a few abbreviations that one reader didn’t know, I’m not aware of any terms that are unfamiliar. Any suggestions? I’ll put the question out to my readership too.

Sven will eat most bugs, alive or dried. He got the three “new” worms I added on Saturday, the others keep burrowing under the greens, and he’s snooty about eating his greens, so they’ve escaped becoming a meal. I’m turning them loose by the Pecan tree today. They’ve earned their freedom.🤣🤣

Thanks again for the tunes & the Magic Star!🎶💃🏼🌠

          1. Yes, that sort of thing – do you remember Britchy? Well how can we forget her, but remember how she would write the stories and she had all sorts of names for people in her life?

People lost track of who was who, and what was what 🙂 So when new people started reading her stories they kept on asking her who was who and what was what?

That is what l am thinking of like with your Sciency Stuff – l read a few weeks ago, from maybe robyn who mentioned how she liked a lot of your jargon 🙂

Regulars will know it all. New readers wont . Even l lose track at times …

  2. Beautiful sunrise shots! And it was good to see Sven be Sven and not just glare 🙂 I like the names! I would probably talk to them when I saw them too. Well, I hope you have a good day today! Nice and chill 🙂

    1. Thanks Robyn! I’m way behind today!🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ Another beautiful sunrise and picking Daughter up from work… but tomorrow is a GLYSB Day, so that’s exciting and Daughter is off tonight, so no mad rush in the morning and the only drama tonight will be the Washing Of The Hair😱. I’ll just wait til his night meds are in his system good.😉😂
I hope your Sunday is going well!💕

    1. I don’t think they’re my pets. The animals that live in my house make me serve THEM🙄🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
I called them Georgie and Gracie this morning and they didn’t fly away… that’s good right?🤣💌💌💌

  3. Aww, I got a warm fuzzy that you went with Georgie and Gracie. It made my day in an odd sort of way. And then you wrapped things up with “Major Tom”, which takes me back to my final year of high school. Good times.

    1. I was thinking “G” names would be good, I do love alliteration. And I love the old Burns and Allen stuff. When I spoke to them, they didn’t hate the names. When it’s right, its right! Thanks again for the awesome suggestion!
Major Tom is a great song. I heard it on the radio when I went to get Daughter from work and was happy to be reminded. Choosing the daily song is often left to chance… something I’ve heard that day, or whatever pops into my head, or trusting the algorithm to find something new for me. I was happy to find I still know all the words to sing along 🎶💃🏼
