Part 261 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Sunset was rather unspectacular again. I still enjoy watching the sky, and feeling the changes that happen as the Earth turns away from the Sun, but there was no “ooooh… ahhhh…” show. Maybe after the weekend when this Santa Ana ends and we get some moisture back in the air.

Ben was a bit better, a bit less edgy. He was still a hot mess with selective hearing, but at least he and Daughter didn’t have power struggles. He sat in my room with his pizza, watching some animated caveman thing, and fake-laughing hysterically. If he had been genuinely laughing, it would’ve been different, this was just annoying. He kept getting louder and more maniacal with it. I didn’t say anything to him about it, except to settle down, he was gonna choke on his food. Daughter brought his meds in at 5:35pm.

I ran his bath at 5:45pm and it only took half a dozen prompts to get him up. At 6:05pm I gave him a ten minute warning and he got out then. Yay, Ben! We drove Miss Daisy without problems, I drove back home and tucked The Boys in bed, texted Daughter and did the Things and Stuff.

I ate my food around 10:15pm and succumbed to the inevitable Food Coma. I woke up around 12:15am completely discombobulated. I saw what time it was, took my meds and burrowed deeper under my blankets. I was asleep again by 1am.

The Bounce and “cuddle” was around 5am. He ran to the baño and came back for more warmth, then it was my turn. He was waiting on the couch when I came out. I texted Daughter to let her know we were up, then went to look at the sky.

I was very happy to see clouds in the west. Maybe our days of 9% humidity were ending early. Plus, clouds make the sunrise and sunset prettier.

Venus is visible in the first two pictures, and the close ups of Georgie were taken from my car, stopped in the middle of the alley/street when I was on my way to get Daughter from work. My favorite is the one where he was looking right at me.

We got Daughter, came back home and she took the first shift of Couch Sittin Duty. I needed to go get Ben’s med as soon as the pharmacy opened at 9am. Daughter knew if she got comfy in her bed it would be more difficult to come out and sit with Ben, so it made sense for her to take first shift.

At 9:30am I changed my slippers for uggs, put on my mask and went to the dag-nabbit store… again. There was one person at the Starbucks kiosk, so I went to the pharmacy first. I got the med, then went back to the kiosk. I knew Daughter would want to sleep when I got back, but I called to see if she wanted me to get her a (nasty) Pumpkin Spice Latte for later. She did. So I got my grande mocha, add shot, no whip and her gross drink. Yes, I used her card to pay for it. I felt bad cuz there was no option to leave a tip, and I had no cash. I was back home by 10am, back in my slippers and Daughter was headed to bed to sleep until 2pm… or so she said.

Ben and I spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon doing the usual stuff. He played with this or that, I got caught up on my WP Reader or fetched things for HRH when he couldn’t be bothered to get them for himself. He spent some time in the dirt hole and I got Horizontal while he was out there. Of course as soon as he came in he commanded me to relocate, and it was back to Couch Sittin Duty.

At 3pm I went and woke Daughter up. She told me before she went to lay down that she set her alarm for 2pm. I said okay. If she had said 4pm, I would’ve said okay. It isn’t so much the sleeping later, it’s that she isn’t doing what she says. I can’t trust her word. If I can’t trust what she tells me, we have a big problem. I need to find a way to explain this to her without making her defensive. Anyway, she got up and I took my stuff to my room. Then it was time for my Sciencey Pictures.

The Sun is setting. There were clouds earlier will they stay around to add some color to the sky? I don’t know, but it’s time to find out. Daughter doesn’t go back to work until Thursday night. Tonight should be easier, less stressful. I hope it is.

You can definitely hear some 70s rock influences with these guys!

    1. I saw Georgie again this afternoon… I never see him in the afternoon. Then Gracie was way up on the power pole by the market, so they were BOTH there this afternoon.
Defending their territory since other gulls keep coming uninvited? Maybe so🤔
      Smooth sailing would be nice!🤞
Coffee Dragon will have fresh coffee waiting for you😉☕🐉💕💃🏼✨🦋🕊🤗

  1. Your pictures are great, specially the shots of Georgie!
Trust is very important and so is the ability to rely on someone. I hope you can have this conversation with your daughter. Hope it all goes well tonight and tomorrow. Hugs

    1. Thanks Sadje! Saturday night went pretty well and Sunday morning is going pretty good too. I’m way behind, but I’m not gonna stress about it.😘
I hope your Sunday was wonderful. Sleep well, sweet dreams!🤗🥰💕✨🌠🦋

  2. Random Confession: I used to be a Spice Pumpkin-aholic, gorging myself on anything that came out with that flavor. Then last year (or so, the timing is fuzzy) I was in the midst of devouring a spice pumpkin cookie which was actually quite tasty when I suddenly thought “meh, I’m over this”. I haven’t touched anything with that flavor since. True story, completely unimportant. Apparently when I’m done, I’m done… 😉

  3. “Her nasty drink” made me laugh. I am not a pumpkin person either and may have described someone else’s pumpkin drink the same way. Bleh! Good pictures of Georgie! And glad it was an okay day! Here is hoping today is pleasant as well!

  4. Yes. I get wanting to be able to trust what your daughter says. I have the same problem with Andrew. e will say hi is coming over at noon, and I don’t hear anything until 4 or later. Frustrating. Or sometimes he cancels much later. Not good. He has poor executive functioning skills.
Curtis is always prompt and on time. He doesn’t like it when he has to wait for his brother and gets mad.
Poor Hank had more surgery yesterday in his mouth. He had another growth. Curtis gets anxious when there is something wrong with him. I get it. He told me yesterday, he doesn’t know what he would do without Hank.
My kids are both sweethearts. I’m so lucky.

    1. I’m lucky with my girls too. The stuff Daughter does is minor in the grand scheme of things, but it’s important to me, ya know?
The world needs more people with kind hearts! There are too many selfish, rude people out there.💕💌💌

        1. Yes, they do. Sometimes I want to say to one of them “she we just disown her? Maybe kill her? Would that make things better?”
I have told them both enough times how much I hate it, that they generally TRY to play nice around me.

  5. Oooooh, yeah, trust is huge. Its presence or absence can make or break 💙. Power struggles, and feeling the need to tiptoe to avoid them, is stressful. I feel you on both of these issues! 💞

Georgie is so cute! I love your pics 😍

Ugh Starbucks…I’ve tried to like them, I really have lol. Turns out I only like their hot chocolate 😳😂💖

    Big love to y’all!! 😍💚💙😎🍾👯‍♀️💟🌷🍀🍷🌴🌵☮️

    1. I’m a Coffee Fiend!! If there was a local coffee shop nearby, I’d go there instead, but sheesh! Starbucks inside the grocery store, another with a drive-thru across the street, and another one less than a mile away🤷🏼‍♀️ a Mocha is hot chocolate with shots of espresso in it… I get extra shots😉🤣🥰💖💖🤗💞💞💃🏼✨🌈
