If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Daughter gave Ben his plate with a mountain of cut up steak on it. I looked at sunset and took pictures, while Ben ate.
The Sciencey picture shows how thick the clouds were in the west, and the next one shows how the east was partly clear. The rest were taken after 4pm. I was surprised to see the clouds clearing, cuz at 3:30pm they looked like they were getting thicker.
After Ben reduced Mt. Steak to rubble, I ran his bath. While I was running the water, Ben ran outside and started madly sweeping dirt into the air. It was 5pm and pretty dark. When the bath was ready I told him to come in… he kept sweeping. I gave him a few minutes and told him to come in again… he ignored me. I didn’t get him into the tub until 5:35pm, and I was a Huffing and Puffing, very unhappy Gramma.
We left on time to Drive Miss Daisy without any further problems. Ben dozed off in the car on the short drive to drop Daughter off, and again after he’d woken up to say goodbye to her. He got out of the car at home, stumbled to his room, and fell onto his bed. I got his slippers off and covered him up, kissed him, gave Zeus a pat and scratch, then texted Daughter that The Boys were in bed. Then I discovered Dogzilla had been in the trash while we were gone… the baggie the steak had been in, even covered in chalk dust. No wonder he looked so guilty when I was covering Ben. I went back into Ben’s room, squatted down and pointed my finger at Zeus and told him “No trash!” He laid his head down… Ben was OUT!
At 8pm Younger called to ask if she could put gas on the credit card. I told her that was fine. She had just gotten off work and had worked two hours overtime so she was tired, but she planned to stop by to get her mail on the way home. She called me back ten minutes later to tell me that Partner hadn’t put the card back in her wallet like she’d asked, so she was gonna try to make it on the fumes in the tank. I asked if she had her debit card. She said she did, but her account was $20 overdrawn… then she started crying. I told her I would put $40 in her account, then she could get gas, come by here to get her mail, then go home and rest.
She got to the house around 8:40pm. She was tired, and she’d had a rough day at work. We talked for a few minutes, hugged, then she left around 9pm. I finished the email I was writing, heated up my food, ate it and took my meds at 10:30pm and texted Older Daughter that I was calling it a night. We exchanged a few texts, then I konked out around 11pm.
I woke up a couple times, but went back to sleep. The Bounce, bedquakes and sniffing was later today, than yesterday… 4:47am. He got under the blankets and “cuddled” for about thirty seconds, commanded me to the living room, then ran off. Dang it!
I guess I wasn’t moving fast enough to suit him cuz he started kicking the front door. Swell! I grabbed my stuff and told him to knock it off, I was coming. I switched the Coffee Dragon from the timer mode to the do it now, and please hurry mode, then went to get Ben’s stuff while it burbled and hissed.
We were finally settled around 5am, so I texted Daughter to let her know we were up. Ben hung out on the couch under a blanket tent, or paced and threw a ball for Zeus, or played with his chalk. I did Couch Sittin and checked my email and WP.
Just before 6am Younger texted that she’d had a rough night, was so tired that she felt nauseous, so she’d called out of work. She wrote that she’d let me know when she woke up so we could plan the Great Tree Search Adventure. Then I went outside to look for Venus, took a couple pictures, and came back in. It was 40ยฐF (4ยฐC)… too cold! I went back out after giving Ben his meds at 6:30am, but the sky was clear, unspectacular, and it was still too cold!
We left to go get Daughter at 7:15am, picked her up, and came back home. Ben went back to his chalk, I resumed Couch Sittin Duty, and Daughter finished clearing out the space where the tree will go, then went to her room, vowing to be up at 2pm.
Ben and I did the same stuff we always do. He played, made messes, issued Royal Commands… I cleaned up, Fetched and Toted, and worked through my WP Reader and comments. The alarms reminded me when to give him meds, otherwise it was just Couch Sittin O’ Clock. Sven cracked an eye open every once in a while, but never moved anything else… must be nice!
When the 2:30 med alarm went off, I was not surprised. Daughter said she would get up at 2pm. I said “yeah, okay” She said she isn’t always responsible for what she does when she’s asleep, like turning off alarms. I told her that she should set a second or third alarm then. That she’s an adult, she should get up on her own. She told me I was a terrible mother cuz I wouldn’t wake her up. Yeah, okay… I texted Younger to see when her next day off was, just in case Older decided to flake out on the Tree Adventure. Younger is off on Tuesday, so is Older. I told Younger I’d let her know.
Daughter got up at 3:25pm. She had a “booboo” face and was saying “Sorry! Sorry!” I told her not to worry about it, I’d expected it. I told her that I’d already checked with her sister and she’s off Tuesday, so we’ll plan for then. Probably better anyway since tomorrow is a GLYSB day and I gotta “Wrassle The Octopus”, aka wash Ben’s hair, tonight. My gut tells me that she didn’t really want to go today, but couldn’t come out and say so cuz it was her plan. That, and she doesn’t care about oversleeping when I’m watching Ben. I texted Younger to let her know.
I took the Sciencey pictures when Daughter got up. The sunset is approaching, so I’ll be watching and taking pictures. Daughter will make something for Ben’s dinner and I will run his bath and wash his hair. Then it’s off to bed with him, Adventures over for the day. No work for Daughter until Wednesday night… thank goodness.
I heard this on the radio this morning when we went to get Daughter from work. I can’t believe this song is twenty-five years old. Tempus Fugit!
Another average day. Aren’t they nice? Sorry the tree Adventure got rescheduled, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone. Tomorrow’s agenda includes Happy Dancing at 7:30am PST, and probably a trip to the store. Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. We never know what we’re doing, and we never know what’s going to happen. We just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and moving forward. Always move forward, going straight will get you nowhere… ยกHasta maรฑana!

The big kids could have gone to school today but didn’t. They said that when they go there are only about 1-2 kids in the class as everyone is just opting to stay home. So they just stayed here. I don’t mind having them here – they zoom in their rooms, come down for food and then go back until school is over. Pretty much is like a typical school day. But D went, and school is exactly where he needs to be. Tomorrow is another big math test where I know he has no idea. We did his fractions homework here on Friday and he keeps wanting to add or subtract the numbers, not divide. And I can only hope his grade actually reflects his true knowledge of the concept so he gets the extra help he needs!

Fingers crossed that he gets the grade he earns, not what aide helps him earn.๐ค Ben is still working on subtraction. Single digit subtraction. They’re gonna teach him with money. He needs a functional education. Sounds like Declan is keeping up fairly well if he’s attempting fractions. Extra help will hopefully keep him mainstreamed.๐ค๐ค๐ค๐๐ผ๐๐

Jewel’s “Pieces of You” album is one of those CDs that I would put on repeat and just let it play forever. So many great songs, and her life trajectory is so compelling, going from nowhere to somewhere through sheer grit and determination…

Yep! I absolutely love her! I read an autobiography… can’t remember the title… she and I share the same outlook on a lot of things. Can’t believe that record is 25 years old. Still great!๐ถ๐๐ผ
