Part 270 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Sunset was pretty, but not dramatic…

Ben ate his “orange chicken” while I took pictures. After he was done eating, I ran is bath. A small miracle occurred and he didn’t fight it or run away.

Once he was in the tub, I started taking his hair out of the braid. Then he started complaining cuz he knew what was next. It wasn’t too bad though. After I put the shampoo on and was getting more he went face first into to water, rinsing some of the shampoo out, and getting it in his eyes. I told him that every time he did that, I’d just have to start over. He should just let me hurry and finish. There was still Wrasling The Octopus, water splashed, minor Huffing and Puffing, but it went pretty well. I’d worry if he didn’t fuss at all, this is Ben.

With his hair washed, conditioned, brushed and braided, I left him to play. I took the bins down to the curb, then went to market for more wine for Daughter and poofs for Ben. Daughter put The Boys to bed around 6:30pm… the usual time. Ben usually watches his tablet for a little while, then goes to sleep.

Daughter went to her room and was asleep by 8pm. I got sucked into a YouTube vortex for an hour or so. Things and Stuff, a short involuntary doze, and heated up Parmesan Chicken Cheese Tortellini soup. I didn’t take my meds until 11pm, and konked sometime after 11:30pm.

I woke up just before 6am… totally slept in! When I got up I looked at the sky… completely overcast. No Venus, no visible sunrise. I visited the Coffee Dragon, let Zeus out of Ben’s room and browsed through my email. Daughter got Ben up and ready, I packed his lunch and periodically went outside, looking at the sky and looking for Georgie and Gracie. When it was time to wait for the GLYSB, I went out with Daughter and Ben, mostly to check out the view to the north, but also to see Ben off. I didn’t put on my mask, so I hung back when the bus arrived. Happy Dancing occurred at 7:32am PST. Two minutes late, but better late than never, right?! I got some pictures of the clouds and Georgie too…

and the Sun eventually broke through the clouds. I got Horizontal, finished going through my email, had a couple chats with Daughter, then started on my WP Reader and comments. Time was flying by. By the time I got caught up it was 1:00pm. Ben’s arrival home was less than an hour away.

Ben was scanned off the bus here at home at 1:47pm. He came into the house saying something in an angry tone. I came out of the baño to see Daughter in the hall, asking if he was okay or did he need a few minutes. I didn’t hear a response. He came down the hall and flopped onto the couch. I asked Daughter what happened, she said Ben ran to the bus as soon as he saw it and the teacher or aide, whoever, made him go back and try again… waiting until he was told it was okay to go to the bus, and walking. So he was still kinda upset over that.

I went over to him and asked if he’d like to take his shoes and socks off, and put his slippers on. He said “Yes.” So I did that. Then he got up and I told him I was so happy that he was home, and he gave me a BIG hug. It was very sweet. I got his tie and jacket off him also. He sat down to watch a movie with Daughter on her laptop and I made him some microwave popcorn. Situation de-escalted!

Ben ran outside to the dirt hole around 2:15pm. Daughter took his meds out at 2:30pm and then got the delivery of his new charging cord for his tablet. He’s been using my tablet since last night because his died and the cord was broken from him just grabbing and running, or yanking too hard on the cord. Anyway, she was plugging his tablet in so he could have it back, and he was outside yelling for help. I could tell he wasn’t hurt or anything by the way he was yelling. I went out and found him in the pecan tree. I told him I would “help” him one time, if he got back in the tree, he’d have to get down himself. I helped him down, then we came back inside.

He pretty much stayed inside after that. It’s chilly outside. The sun is out but there are clouds too. And the breeze is nippy. I went out just before 3:30pm to take the Sciency Data Gathering photos. Solstice is on the twenty-second, just about a week away. The Sun will reach it’s southernmost setting point from my perspective. Very exciting!

Daughter will be cooking “white chicken” for Ben’s dinner in a little while, two breasts worth. Hopefully it will be enough. Then an easy bath and bedtime. No stress, no work, no worries…

I first heard AWOLNATION when I head “Sail” on the radio. This song is different from Sail but just as good. Good band!

Handyman – AWOLNATION

Thanks for stopping by and hanging out. Tomorrow has a lot more stuff on the agenda. It’s a GLYSB day, last one before Winter Break… Happy Dancing at 7:30am PST. Then I have my monthly Pump Fill appointment at the pain doctor. Then I need to get a few things from the grocery store. Also, it’s supposed to be the rescheduled Christmas Tree getting day. Whew! Busy day tomorrow. I’m glad I rested up today. Come along on my doctor’s appointment, grocery shopping, and the Great Tree Adventure. I’m sure there’ll be laughs. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Oh, I love AWOLNATION – great song! The one I have on my iPod is Woman Woman, although I hate the video so if you don’t know it and check it out, just listen, don’t look. Great job getting Ben into a happy place! Whew, that was a close one. Sounds like a pretty chill day – yay!! I hope the tree hunting goes well tomorrow. And it is the last GLYSB day for a bit, so definitely enjoy that! Have a great day!!

    1. It was a very chill day, and the evening went fine with Ben. I found out that my SD card in my phone is full, so is the memory in my phone… stupid 16GB isnt enough. Just a little personal crisis, that Daughter found hysterical. She doesn’t care about the sky… but I don’t care about Zombies and I’ve never seen Walking Dead so🤷🏼‍♀️ to each their own.😉
Thanks! I think getting the tree at 2:30pm on a Tuesday will work out better than the planned 4pm on a Sunday.🤞🤗🥰

  2. Georgie is starting to remind me a little of Sven. He’s a great character. ☺️
A Big hug always makes the day better! Slippers, movie with mom and popcorn – way to go. Makes me smile just thinking about it. You’ve got a super busy day tomorrow. Hope you sleep in again! Hugs 😴💓🤗🎶💃

    1. I hoping to sleep in, that would be awesome! Yep, busy, busy tomorrow. It’s that time of year. Even in lockdown, Christmas comes, especially for families with little monsters.
I think the really talkative crow is getting jealous of all the attention Georgie gets😂😂😂 It squawked for a while, then flew off. It usually stays around longer. The birds make me smile in the morning. That is very welcomed!😍🦋💃🏼✨💫🌞🐦
