Part 277 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

I took pictures, Ben ate pizza and played with his chalk. Sunset was pretty but about the same as all the other cloudless one. It’s actually a good thing that the sky is clear, so we can see the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. The last picture is the best of about ten tries. At least you can see how very close they appear to be.

The rest of the night went smoothly. Smoothly for Casa Cuckoo anyway. Ben had his bath, was tucked in with Zeus and Daughter went to bed shortly after. I did the usual, I ate the Fish and Chips Daughter brought home, then I got sucked into some YouTube videos of wood turning. Dude made some cool stuff and the videos were very relaxing. Next thing I knew it was almost 9pm and I still had stuff to do. I got it done, took my meds, and konked writing a comment sometime after 10:30pm.

I woke up around 4:30 but was back to dozing by 5am. Then the Bounce at 5:30am. I thought about getting up to see Venus for a millisecond and dozed a little more while Ben did the wiggle-jiggle and cuddled my body heat. I think Zeus was sad that Gigi wasn’t here today. He kept looking around and whining. Aside from a few punches to the kidneys, Ben was pretty mellow. We stayed under the blankets until 6:15am, then it was living room time and Couch Sittin Duty. I looked at sunrise at few times but it was cold, Georgie was waaay up on the power pole, and it was generic. Clear skies are good though… no clouds is good!

We mostly hung out on the couch under blankets. I dozed a little, I’m always ready to doze. Anyway, around 9:30am he started beating on the baño door. Several questions and prompts later, he said he needed to use the bathroom. Alrighty then. He was entering before I could exit… potty emergency I guess. I told him to let me know when he was done so I could help him clean up. Did he let me know? Of course NOT. He was back under the blanket tent, so I went to him, package of wipes in hand. Sparing you the details, I had to get him a clean pair of underwear (why is underwear a “pair”?). I needed to do laundry anyway, no time like the present.

So after getting him cleaned up, and settled back in his blanket tent, I put laundry in the washer. By then it was 10am and Daughter was still sleeping. I was headed down the hall to check on her, and almost ran into her as she was coming out of her room. I told her I’d started to worry and was coming to check on her. She said she’d been awake a couple hours in the middle of the night. Whatever. She took over Couch Sittin Duty and I got Horizontal.

Daughter put her clothes in the washer at some point. I got them out and took all the clothes to the Domain Of The Quarter Lady around 1:15pm. I didn’t see Quarter Lady or Cleaner Lady. The “office” area was open, but whoever was working, I didn’t see them. There were a few other people doing laundry so who knows who was who? Not me. I only know who I am cuz Ben tells me all the time. No Ladies when I went back to get the clothes either. Maybe it’s just time to move on…

In between dropping the clothes off and picking them up, I decided to take Mr Grumpy Beard outside in the sunshine for a little while. It was very warm, and he’d had his eyes open most of the day. I put some fresh food in his dish earlier but that didn’t tempt him to move. After about fifteen or twenty minutes in the sunshine, he was giving me side-eye and moving more. I took him back in to his food, took one picture and let him be. He moved from the Judgey Corner, back to the Pouting Corner but I don’t know if he stopped to snack along the way.

Daughter decided she wants to cook the food on the 23rd, Wednesday, then have Santa come that night and open prezzies on the 24th. She’s working the night of the 25th so she doesn’t want to do anything that day. I told her it doesn’t matter to me. She asked me to text Younger and see if that was okay with her, and to see if Younger was still coming tonight to decorate the tree? Wha… huh? Apparently they DO talk, even though Older just finished telling me they don’t, in answer to why I’m doing the texting instead of her. I told them both I felt like the child of bickering parents… the go-between. Ugh!

So Younger may or may not be coming by later, Partner may or may not come with her, and Presents Day is whenever and Younger and Partner will come by when they come by. Can you tell how much we care about the “Holidays”? We do food, and the “kid” stuff, and some decorations. I’m just glad that Younger and Partner got their Negative results so Younger can see Ben. She loves him best out of everyone I think.

It’s just about sunset time. I’m probably going to watch most of it from my bed again. No clouds. I’ll be outside as soon as it’s dark enough to see Jupiter though. It’s been Eight Hundred Years since they were this close at night. I’m pretty excited!

Sunshine on my shoulders does make me happy! So does John Denver.

Sunshine On My Shoulders – John Denver

Thanks for stopping by! Did you look to the southwest right after sunset for Jupiter and Saturn? If there are clouds, try again. They’ll still be close for a few days, and start moving farther apart. The Big Reveal will be on post 278 or 279, it kinda depends on the time it takes me to put together. But the Sciencey Stuff Project is officially over. Thanks for enduring all the pictures. Stop by tomorrow, the Coffee Dragon will be ready to burble and hiss at your pleasure… maybe Sven will glare at us… who knows?! ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Happy Sven! 🐉. All those plans sound as clear as clear. I love it! It’s about being together not a particular day. 💞. I saw them!! Jupiter and Saturn!! 800 years how amazing is that?! I saw them from a hilltop. I’m so glad the weather was clear! They were super easy to find and I knew how and where to look because of You! Thank you!! 🤗💝🌷🦋✨🪐

    1. Oh, I’m glad you had good weather and were able to see them!💃🏼🌠 and I’m very happy that I helped! YAY! They will stay close for a couple days, but they’re already moving apart. They’re pretty low in the sky now, so I’m not sure how much longer we can watch them, but hopefully we’ll get to see them separate a little before they’re gone from view.
Sven, Sven, Sven… he’s still in the back Pouting Corner.😂 I envy him. I wish I could sleep for weeks at a time!🤗🥰💕💃🏼🌠💫

  2. A relaxy story of day Angie. I couldn’t see the two planets 🪐 🪐 from here. Probably too pollution or maybe they were hidden behind the buildings. Hope the Christmas, whenever you do celebrate it, is a happy occasion. Love and hugs.

    1. Awww… I’m sorry you couldn’t see it☹ They are pretty low in the southwest once it’s dark enough to see them. And they’re only visible for and hour or two before the go below the horizon.
The “Plan” is cooking the food on Wednesday afternoon, making that Christmas Eve, then Santa comes Wednesday night, and Ben discovers the presents Thursday morning… Younger and Partner will come over whenever.🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣 The only reason we have to have a “plan” is so we all know what to tell Ben. He can read a calendar, but doesn’t pay attention unless he’s asked to. It actually makes things easier on us.😉🤗🥰💕

  3. We took the dogs for a walk last night, anxious to see the planets – and it was CLOUDY. Total bummer! I am hoping the sky clears and they are more visible tonight. I gotta get wrapping. There is still so much to do on my Christmas to-do list. But first, get the kid through school work. There are a couple of big projects due tomorrow that need some attention. Here’s hoping you all have a great day today!

    1. Awww… another cloudy sky☹ Bummer! Yeah, try again.🤞 They’ll be super close for a couple days.
We do ALL the wrapping on the night before. It sucks, but Ben wouldn’t leave them alone if we put them out earlier. Daughter works tonight, then off until the 25th night. So we’re having “Eve” tomorrow (Wednesday) and unwrapping madness on Thursday morning. I don’t know if we’re ready or not, but it’s happening🤪🤪😂💝🤗🥰💕🎄🎁🌠

  4. It’s good to hear your youngest got a negative result – you’ll all be able to enjoy the festivities. I like a relaxed Christmas too. It’s not much fun if you’re stressed through cooking the food or over doing the decor. There’s not much chance of seeing the Great Conjunction here. The skies are thick with rain clouds. I look forward to your photos! ☺️

    1. Awww… sorry you’ve got rain clouds. My photos are crap!😂😂 I’m using an old android phone camera. I am getting a spiffy new digital camera for Christmas and I was tempted to have Older give it to me early, but I didn’t. I’ve been watching Jupiter and Saturn for months and its cool to see them come together but without a telescope or an AWESOME camera, they’re too far away to get a really good picture. Good enough to see the slight separation anyway. Now I get to watch them move apart again until the disappear from view. They’re pretty low on the horizon now… only visible for an hour or two after sunset.

Yes, it was very good to get that Negative. It would’ve made us all sad if we had to postpone or she would’ve missed coming over. I’ve bent the rules a bit by having her over during lockdown, but she is super care and so are we. She didnt come by at all once she knew she was exposed until she got her negative. She was going to drop Gigi off while we were gone. Glad that wasn’t necessary.
Happy Christmas to you and your family!!🎄💌💕

  5. Christmas at Bonnywood is going to be VERY relaxed this year. We’ve finished wrapping all the presents (for others, we haven’t exchanged with each other for years), we’re not going anywhere (the festivities with our respective families will be next month (scheduling issues), and instead of one big meal we decided to get lots of our favorite things and just have little mini-meals all week.

It feels a little off, in that there isn’t the usual rush to get everything done, but so far I kind of like this…

    1. Yeah… I got super tired of the stress. Then after Ben came along, we had everyone here cuz my mother’s house wasnt Ben-proof. Brother & mother didnt like coming here, so that stopped. And I was free… free to not deal with the drama every year. There was guilt, but I got over it. My family is small, so it’s a lot easier. My brother & his wife, (that I’ve met once, when I went to my mother’s house after being nagged incessantly ) can hang out with my mother and do the Hallmark Christmas charade! No thanks, I’ll be in my PJs scratching and belching😉🤣🤣🤣
You’re virtually welcome to join us. Unless you got that transporter working…?😂💕
