If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
After posting yesterday I continued to catch up on blog reading. I completely skipped sunset. I didn’t go and look once. It was weird, but good for me too. I’ve missed a few others over the months of my Sciencey Stuff Project, but it always stressed me out… like it was a requirement or something.
Ben had his pizza, his bath, his meds, and went to bed without any major issues. The firecracker idjits started around 7pm and continued periodically until 1am. Poor Zeus! I gave him benadryl and a beef bone to gnaw on around 10pm. Thankfully Ben slept through the midnight show. I dozed a little between 10pm and 1am and slept after that.
I did think of my friends in all the different times zones when their New Years started and sent good thoughts their way.
Ben got up around 5am. He didn’t Bounce or “cuddle”. He did kick the front door a few times, but not hard. I tried to convince him to come get under the blankets with me, but he declined and issued a Royal Command for me to relocate to the living room. Aww, Dang!
I went to look for Venus around 5:30am but she was too low to get a good picture. When I went out later I was too late. I could see her, but the camera couldn’t distinguish her from the rising Sun. Sunrise wasn’t spectacular, I mostly talked to the loudmouth crow who “Squawks Up The Sun” every morning. It must be the same crow. Why would there always be a different crow that caws and caws and caws, every morning?! I guess he’ll need a name. I’ve been calling him Mister Crow. The G’s didn’t even do a flyby… not while I was outside anyway.
Ben is still on reduced Adderall and it is noticeable. What a pain in the butt to have the pharmacy need to order it over a long holiday weekend. At least he’s in a good mood. I know I wouldn’t like the ping, pong, bing, banging AND grumpiness together. Anyway, he paced, went from trains (dumped everywhere), to his Jumanji game (spread out on the couch), to chalk (two buckets dumped). He wouldn’t let me pick up any of the stuff. He wanted everything left out. Moving around would have been difficult so I pretty much stayed in the Couch Sittin Duty spot. The minute he went outside I picked it ALL up.
Daughter got up at 11:30am and took over Couch Sittin Duty. I moved my stuff to my room and went to the back yard to look at the sky and feel the Sun. The sky was cloudless and a beautiful blue. There was a breeze and the tall palm trees were waving and glistening in the sun. I took a few pictures but they didn’t do justice. I saw a raven and a crow fly by, near each other. They were headed the same direction but I don’t know if they were together. The crow caw caw caw‘d and the raven croak croak‘d, so I said hello back. Then a hummingbird flew into the branches of the Pecan Tree, was there about three seconds, flew out and hovered for a second where I could see it, and flew off. Right after the hummer left, a flutterby (butterfly in Angie-ese) ummm… fluttered by. It was a good size and orangish-reddish. It was too far from my severely nearsighted eyes to see any detail, so I don’t know what kind of flutterby it was.
After that fun little wildlife adventure, I flopped onto my bed for some Horizontal Time. I started drifting into a doze… just at that soft, sweet, fuzzy point when the drift becomes a floating away my phone made a loud, obnoxious noise to let me know I had a text message. Stupid phone only does notifications when it wants to. I am constantly checking my messages because I don’t get notifications most of the time. Except of course when I’m willing and able to have a nap. Gotta love Mr Murphy and his little games.
The message was from Younger who woke up in a bad mental space this morning. She was on her way to the part time work and feeling a little better. I was happy she was in a better mood, but I still would’ve liked a nap. Just sayin…
I went to the market to get chips for HRH. I offered Goldfish crackers, cereal, carrots and popcorn but he wanted CHIIIIIPS! Yeah, not cleaning up the pea soup if he goes Linda Blair, I got chips.
The day has been pretty mellow. A much needed relaxing day. No work for Daughter tonight, so the evening should be mellow too. Maybe I’ll even watch the sunset tonight. Or maybe I’ll skip it for the second night in a row. I never know what I’m gonna do until I’m already doing it.
Yeah, it’s a New Year and that’s symbolic, but really, it’s just another day…
Thanks for joining us today. I’m happy to report that nothing really bad happened today. Hurray! The only thing on tomorrow’s agenda is Driving Miss Daisy tomorrow night. I’m sure some other Adventures will be found. We do have dull days here at Casa Cuckoo, but they aren’t the standard. Even when the day is mellow, Ben or one of the four legged family members can be counted on for a giggle or head-exploding exasperation. Dull? Sometimes. Mellow? Not often enough. Boring? Never. Coffee will be ready, ยกHasta maรฑana!

I laughed out loud at “not cleaning up the pea soup if he goes Linda Blair” ๐ Been there and would get the chips too ๐
That really stinks about his Adderall. I used to have to drop Bob’s prescriptions off (his new Doctor has some monthly system where I don’t have to) and I had to listen to that speech every time. “Let me see if we have it in stock.” There were times it wasn’t and we could either wait or try another pharmacy. It was such a pain and Bob can’t work without them. I hope the Adderall comes in for you guys soon and Ben starts to feel better.
I hope you have another great day today! Calm, chill, and enjoyable!

Thanks Robyn! I don’t like to go to different pharmacies with a “controlled substance”. That’s more drama! They give you the stink eye and all the questions.๐๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
It cost me a box of chalk from the stash, but Ben is loudly making his “Happy Noises”. Good so far๐
When does the staring, frustration and tears of Zoomin’ with D start back up? Or did they just extend Winter Break?
Our break is over now I guess, Monday should’ve been a GLYSB day for Ben. I haven’t heard about a Zoom schedule. NO WAY we’re even gonna think about trying til we get that Adderall though. NO WAY!๐ฑ๐

A mellow start to the New Year – may it continue. I would love to see a humming bird.

You don’t get hummingbirds in your area? I don’t know why that surprises me. We don’t have Cardinals and I’ve only seen one. It was when I was visiting my ex’s family in a different state… 2000 miles (3220 km) away.

We don’t have humming birds in the UK so I consider them very exotic! ๐

We don’t have Cardinals either!

None at all?? Oh, that’s sad! They are delightful little birds. So tiny and very pretty.
I’m sure my palm trees, parrots and hummingbirds must seem very exotic. While I yearn for the history of your buildings and the beauty of your landscape. I guess we all want to experience something different from what’s around us.๐๐

One day, when things are calmer again, I may get to visit the US and California. ๐

Perhaps you could name the crow…. Russell. Or maybe not. I’ll try to work on some other ideas…
And of course I think “flutterby” is just too cute… ๐

Not Russell ๐๐ although Ben did watch Gladiator the other day… ๐ค
Sorry, got distracted for a minute there… what was I saying?
Nevermind. It probably wasn’t important๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐
