If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
The clouds I wrote about yesterday were coming in from the south, and by sunset time, the west was clear, so it was Meh. Awww, dang!
Dinner, meds, bath, and bedtime went fine. Little Mr. Bootyhead was tired. Daughter went to her room, I did the usual.
Daughter decided she wanted Mexican food from a taco shop, she asked me what I wanted and placed the order. Fast forward… around 10pm Younger texted me to ask if she could come by for some stuff. Then said nevermind, she worked until midnight. I offered to leave it in the mailbox for her. Problem solved. Except I couldn’t find the key for the front door. (It needs the key on the inside too. Another attempt to keep Ben safe.) Older Daughter didn’t put it back after she got the food and she was asleep. OY!
Older has the spare on her work badge clip thingy from when she walked home from the Skilled Nursing Facility. Since I had no idea where the other key was, I searched for her badge. I had my phone flashlight, searching through her backpack… not there. I found it on her bedside table. We need to have another key made so Younger can have one. It doesn’t usually matter because we don’t lock the house when we leave. Nothing worth stealing, and if someone wants in bad enough, I’d prefer they didn’t break a window.
Anyway, I ate half my food and went into an immediate Food Coma. I surfaced around 2:30am and took my med. Then I woke around 3:45am because I was hot. WHAT?! Yeah, super weird, but I was TOO warm. I pushed the blankets off and lowered my hood. Of course I needed to use the baño then. Ugh! Then I was cold cuz my house is freezing, so I put my hood back up and burrowed under my blankets again, and went back to sleep.
I heard Ben and Zeus get up, but Ben didn’t come for me so I listened. I heard Daughter, so I dozed until 7am. Yep! I interruptedly slept until 7am. That’s a Jen-U-Wine Miracle right there!
I listened and heard Ben and Daughter in Daughter’s room. Whoa! That rarely happens. I quietly got up and headed for baño and Coffee Dragon. Younger’s Partner called while I was on the Seat Of Ease, and I don’t generally answer the phone in the baño (cuz it’s gross) unless it’s a Daughter. Partner isn’t a Daughter, but they don’t usually call me either, so I answered.
Their fridge in their trailer has been wonky for a while. They’re moving next month, so they were just dealing with it. It was too cold, freezing the stuff in the fridge part too. They’d just bought freezer stuff, and Mr Murphy was having a laugh, cuz the whole unit went kaput. Partner wanted to store the freezer stuff at our house. I said sure, bring it over.
I went and got the key from Daughter, unlocked the door, then finally got my coffee. Daughter and Ben were still in her room, so I texted Partner to come on in when they got here, and went to enjoy my coffee in my room. Partner arrived around 8am. We put the stuff away and chatted for a few, then they left and I went back to my room.
Ben came and commanded me to the living room a little later. I started getting everything ready for Couch Sittin Duty, when Daughter came out. I told her I thought she’d gone to sleep, that Ben said she did when I asked him. Anyway, she took over the Couch Sittin Duty and I went to put laundry in the washer. A very weird morning!
Daughter didn’t start her laundry until 1:30pm. Kind of irritating since I’m the one who had to take the clothes to the dryers. I would’ve preferred to get it over with sooner, but I learned long ago that I have zero control over ANYTHING except my own actions. Period.
Ben was pretty mellow most of the day. He followed me around several times asking for chalk. I gave him one of the three remaining boxes early in the day, but he wanted more. “More chalk. I want more chalk, please. You have to get dressed, you have to go to the store…” It didn’t get to the level of screaming, or being destructive, but it was annoying. I only had two small boxes left. The two ginormous boxes were expected “before 9pm” today, and I told him that, but patience isn’t his strong suit.
Around 2:45pm I got the last load of clothes out of the washer. I hung up the couple things that didn’t need to be in a commercial dryer, then masked up. I considered changing clothes or at least shoes, but decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Yep! I went to the laundromat in my jammy pants, hoodie, and slippers.
I’d heard Zeus barking at something while I was hanging the few things, and when I opened the front door the chalk had arrived. On top of the box was a Milkbone dog biscuit. How freakin sweet is that?!? The UPS person left a cookie for Zeus. And Halle-freakin-luja, Ben’s chalk arrived!! I gave him one of the boxes and he happily began doing his thang.
For those interested- the Quarter Lady was there today. She was folding stuff in the corner by the change machine. My favorite dryers were in use, and so were my second choice. DANG! I went with my favorite side and chose different dryers, put the three baskets down, and went to change a $5 bill. I nodded a Hello to Quarter Lady and she nodded back. I got my change and kept it in my hand. Clothes into dryers, quarters into machines. I didn’t think thirty minutes on medium heat (“high” is TOO high for anything except jeans or towels) was going to be long enough, so I got my wallet out and fed more quarters from home into the machines. Then I grabbed the baskets and went to leave… and met eyes with Quarter Lady. I knew she’d been watching me. I tried to convey challenge into my eyes. Who knows if she could even see my eyes behind my glasses from across the room, but I’m going to say she could. She not only saw my eyes, she saw the challenge in them. And she looked away first! She really did look away first. So I won! She can stare at my back all she wants, I still win!
I’m getting ready to go get the clothes from the laundromat. After that I’ll be folding and putting away. Sunset and possibly (probably let’s be honest) taking pictures. Daughter is still off work, so a mellow evening is expected.
I love this band… they are excellent live… but their videos are SO weird!
A very weird day. A good day, but it started weird and had an edge even during the groovy times. Casa Cuckoo is a weird place so a weird day doesn’t really surprise me. What will tomorrow bring, me wonders? I haven’t got a clue. That is also not unusual. Whatever happens, we’ll find a way to have some laughs. ¡Hasta mañana!

Well you won the stare contest with the quarter lady! 🤩🤩🤩
And sleeping till 7 is another win! I’ve learned that lesson too, you can only control your own actions, not those of others. Hope you have a “true mellow” evening and tomorrow. Hugs and lots of love.

Yep! I was expecting the delivery and I was SOOO happy it came when it did! It kept him busy until bath time.🥳💃🏼✨ and the cookie for Zeus was a very small, kind thing! It’s those little things that mean SOOO much! When I get a few minutes (and remember 🤦🏼♀️🤣) I want to see if I can leave a message of thanks for that UPS person. MY small act of kindness.💕🌈💃🏼🌻✨

My daughter is a fan of Cage the Elephant so I know them a bit. I’ll have to listen to more. Well done for winning the stare with the quarter lady – I’m imagining Paddington Bear! 🙂

😂😂 I don’t know if we quite reached Paddington Bear level.

I am very happy that Quarter Lady broke eye contact first, thus allowing you to passively get the upper hand. To be honest, I’ve been secretly hoping that you would somehow get to slap her, but that’s just the dark side in me coming out, which it does from time to time… 😉

There are times when I’d welcome an excuse to open a can of whupass on a truly deserving Idjit, trust! A truly epic Jerry Springer battle could be had inside a laundromat too. The giant dryers alone offer endless possibilities for some BIFF! POW! BAM!😂😂
