Part 🎉300🥳 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Daughter woke up around 5pm. Ben didn’t wake up until 6pm when Daughter woke him for meds, potty and bed. I did the sunset thing and made another video of it. I took WAAAY too many pictures again too.

Sunset January 12, 2021

And if you’re curious what my voice sounds like, I say a few things in the video.

Of course the video is just forty seconds, and the sky changed a lot before and after the video.

I had about ten other pictures that I’d chosen, but WP in combo with my phone is making things difficult. Too much trouble for me anyway. Besides, ten less pictures… you’re welcome.

Things and Stuff… yadda yadda yadda… midnight sleep. I woke around 3:30am… baño and back to bed. Daughter’s light was on and I heard her, but Zeus wasn’t following me, so Ben wasn’t up. He didnt go back to sleep last night until after 8:30pm.

I woke again at 5:30am and got up for the day. Today is Daughter’s birthday, and she wanted to have the day off from Couch Sittin Duty, so I was ready for The Boys when they got up right after I did.

Daughter called to Ben, so he went to hang out in her room. It’s what she said she wanted. Alrighty then. I went out to look for Venus. She was difficult to spot and photograph, but I kept trying.

Then I fixed the little water tubing thingy that goes to the ice maker in the fridge. It needed two coupling thingies and a new piece of tubing, which I actually had from the last time I had to do a repair. Add Plummer to my list of professional titles.

Then I went to look at the sky again.

I saw crows and gulls this morning too. I used Google Photo to make a video of all the pictures. It even has a generic music soundtrack. I like it better than trying to choose which pictures turned out best.

Quite an exciting morning for me. Great way to celebrate a New Moon. Maybe all the caca from the past two weeks is finally ending and I can just say the new year starts with today.

Daughter decided she wanted food from Jack In The Box. Okie dokie… I ordered a breakfast sammie. After the food arrived, Ben decided he wanted to relocate, so I began Couch Sittin Duty. Then around 9am I saw a very happy sight…

Mr Grumpy Beard was not only awake, he’d moved. I picked through the wilty greens and berries in the fridge and added the four (four? There were six last night) worms and moved him. He didn’t seem interested and he’s shedding a little, so I put him in the shower.

Sven spent about forty-five minutes blissing in the warm shower. He was super bright and yellow when I got him out. I put him back on his hammock under the lights so he could bask in the warmth and UV rays. He’ll probably be pretty mellow for a few days, he slept for a long time.

Ben and I hung out on the couch, regular, routine stuff. I went outside a few times. I saw Georgie and Gracie sitting in their usual spots, and had a chat with them. I heard a raven so I went outside to talk to it. (and record another short video) A very nice morning while Daughter napped.

Around noon Ben asked for new chalk. I was waiting on the delivery from Crayola of twenty-four boxes of chalk. I had two boxes of twelve piece, and one box of seventy-two piece. I gave him one of the twelves.

Twenty minutes later he wanted more. I spent ten minutes talking to him about waiting, while he started ramping himself up. He was already unhappy about only twelve, and I didn’t want him to wake Daughter or start being destructive, so I got the big box. He started doing his Thang, and singing and making Happy Noises.

At 12:45 I went to wake Daughter. She was sitting up in bed, so I said “Wake up.” She said “No!” I said “okay” and left. Zeus was barking at the door, so I looked out the peephole… three big boxes had been delivered. The Crayola shipment had finally arrived. Hopefully we have enough chalk to get through the rest of January. I have more boxes of sixteen piece coming on Friday.

Daughter had the Zoom appointment with Ben’s med doctor at 1pm, it’s why she had to wake up at 12:45pm. I made a list of all the problems we’ve had since the Adderall change and Daughter explained to the doctor. The doctor is switching him back to instant release and increasing by a half pill, or 2.5mg. His total daily dose of Adderall will be 10mg. The doctor suggested 7.5mg in the morning and 2.5mg at 12:30pm. I told Daughter we might give that other 2.5mg in between 6:30am and 12:30pm… like at 9:00 or 9:30.

After the meeting Daughter took over Couch Sittin Duty. I came out of the baño and she was in The Spot. I asked if she wanted me to make the run to In-N-Out then? She said no, she was giving me a break. I told her it wasn’t necessary, I was okay. She said her guilt demanded it. Ugh… guilt is silly, but I didn’t argue. Horizontal Time sounded fine to me.

At 3pm Daughter decided she didn’t want In-N-Out today. Her stomach was upset and she wasn’t super hungry. I told her I’d go whenever, so a postponement was okay with me. It’s her birthday meal, she can have it whenever she wants it.

I’m going to end here and just relax until sunset. Ben got one of the cardboard boxes that contain a twenty-four piece and a forty-eight piece box of chalk, and opened it. So he has over one hundred fifty new pieces of chalk. I took all of his old chalk and dumped it outside, on the deck next to the dirt hole. Georgie was on the Market roof, so I went and chatted with him. A good day…

A blast from the past. Remember… “shake it three times and you’re playing with yourself”

The Anthem – Good Charlotte

New Moon, good day. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new “normal”. As normal as Casa Cuckoo gets. Daughter had a good birthday, Ben had a good day, and I got to talk to lots of birds. Plus a beautiful sunset and a fun sunrise. Daughter has to work tomorrow night, but hopefully the day will be chill before. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow… together. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. It is always nice to put a voice with the face 🙂 Now I can read your stuff in your voice and really hear you. That is cool. That was a beautiful sunset too. All those colors! So cool.

Sven is back! So good to see my favorite bearded dragon. He looks very happy on his hammock too.

That is awesome you got the Adderall worked out. I hope things go back to normal, and maybe even better with the new addition. Fingers crossed!

It sounds like you had a really chill day and that daughter got to do all that she wanted to do for her special day. That is great. I hope you guys have a great birthday night and a very chill day again tomorrow!

I can’t believe the sunsets! Tonight the sky was glowing. Even after it was dark, there was still color. It’s so exciting for me! Daughter just rolls her eyes. The sky just isn’t her thing.🤷🏼‍♀️😂😂💕

    1. Thank you! I figured I might as well say something… better than listening to the traffic 😂 I got used to hearing my voice when I worked dispatch, so it doesn’t bother me like it does some people.🤷🏼‍♀️
I’m sad to see you awake at this time☹ Sending Hugs!! 💌💌💌💌

    1. The sky has been unreal! I dont remember ever seeing SO many amazing sunsets. Maybe I’m just noticing more because of the Science Project.
You’d have to go pretty far for desert. Another thing I love about San Diego County. I can go to the desert, play in the snow in the mountains and watch the sunset at the beach all in one day.

  3. Beautiful photos and videos and nice to hear your voice. It’s interesting to hear your accent – I’m not always good at locating which parts of the US different accents come from. Sven looks well and happy. And the meds are hopefully sorted too. New moon, new start! 🙂

    1. I never really think of myself as having an accent. But everyone does, don’t they? Even “generic American” is an accent. I’m amazed at how many accents there are in UK. Or even just in England.
UK is about the same size as California and we dont have that many different accents in California 😆
Sven went back in his house🤷🏼‍♀️ I dont know if he’s done or not. It was good to see him awake and Glaring at me😂💕

    1. My little world would be a very unhappy place without Crayola chalk. 😱 Ben will spend hours shaping and arranging the pieces. He sees something I can’t. It’s pretty cool, but UGH!! the mess! Thank goodness we have tile and not carpet.

  5. Aww, I really LIKE your voice. Now I can hear all your witty remarks in just the right tone. And since turnabout is fair play, here’s a link to a video with not only my voice but actual visual imagery of yours truly…

Flashback #10: The Night I Did Not Break the Internet

Now that I think about it, I just might re-share that post on Bonnywood, as it looks like I haven’t thrown it out into the world for over three years. We’ll see….
