If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Last night’s sunset was another mellow one.
Ben was in the Chalk Zone again, and didn’t want to eat his pizza. We eventually got him away from the chalk, got him to eat, gave him meds, and I got him into the tub.
We took Daughter to work, came home and The Boys were tucked in, Daughter was texted, and blah ditty blah blah blah…
Sleep around midnight, a couple brief wakes, then awake at 5am. I really could’ve gone back to sleep, but I figured Ben would be up soon, so I got up and started my day.
When the sky started to get light I went out to look for Venus. She’s rising later and in the southeast. By the time she’s high enough to see, the light from the rising Sun starts washing her out. I timed it well today.
I let Zeus out of Ben’s room at 6:30am and started waking Ben up. I gave him his meds, texted Daughter to let her know we were awake. She texted back that she was giving report to “a good nurse, so come whenever”, which was her way of telling me not to lag. She’d texted last night about how busy she was and how rude people were being. I do NOT understand why patients, especially COVID patients, are rude to their nurses. They went to the hospital for help, then act all inconvenienced and treat the people trying to help them like servants.
Anyway, Ben and I left earlier than we have been since she started working COVID, and got there just as she was clocking out. She got in the car, said Good Morning to Ben and told me to get her outta there. So that’s what I did. We got home and settled into our usual places.
I kept the windows and side door open last night, so the house was really cold this morning. After we got home I started shutting everything. The Guessers picked 84°F (29°C) for the high temperature today, and I figured it was better to start off cool. I don’t like having October Weather in January. I don’t like it in October either TBH.
Anyway, the outside got warmer and warmer, but inside we were still nice and cool. The vibe inside stayed chill as well. Ben had me tape some of his Fridge Magnet letters together, then he sent me after MY tablet cuz he wanted to use it, and had actually asked, but couldn’t be bothered to get up and go get it. (He’s got more will to keep asking than I do patience to resist the constant requests) I grabbed one of the boxes of sixteen piece chalk that’d been delivered last night and gave him the chalk and my tablet.
I put Sven in the shower at 12:30pm, after giving Ben his meds. The cool house was TOO cool for the Side-Eye King. He’d been in the back Pouting Corner since last night. He looked pretty blissed by the shower. He didn’t even get grumpy when I scrubbed him a little with the toothbrush.
Sven and I took a stroll around the backyard together before I put him back in his terrarium. Bright, happy Sven. My eyes look a little psycho in that picture though… no wonder Sven gives me side-eye.
Daughter came and took over Couch Sittin at 2:30pm. I had been feeling dozey around 2pm and was kinda skating on the edge when Ben said “What’s that noise?” So I asked him what noise. He said “Timer. Mommy’s room.” I told him he had great hearing cuz I didn’t hear Mommy’s alarm go off. I have a partial hearing loss, so I might not have heard it if I was fully awake. We’ll have to mention him hearing her alarm from the other side of the house the next time they (district people, doctor people, IEP people… THEM) start buggin about having his hearing tested. He won’t cooperate with a hearing test. It’s a waste of everyone’s time!
After Daughter got up, Ben went outside to climb in the Pecan Tree. He was pretending it was a horse and bouncing. I told him to be careful, it looked like he was gonna Bounce the tree in half, or Bounce that limb right off. I had to go “rescue” him. He wanted me to carry him, but I respectfully declined. He came back inside, grabbed his tablet and Jumanji game and came to hang out in my room with me.
One more night of Driving Miss Daisy. One more PreGame Show, then we don’t worry about it until Thursday night. Ben’s steak is thawing. It’s been a chill day, I expect a chill evening. Rinse, repeat…
I heard this on the way to get Daughter this morning. Gotta love an 80s flashback. I also heard a 70s song, but let’s leave poor Brandy (such a fine girl) alone with her locket, shall we?!
Daughter gets her second shot of the Pfizer vaccine after work tomorrow morning. She’s a little worried because some of her coworkers developed flu-like symptoms after the second shot. I guess we’ll find out. The first shot just made her arm sore for a couple days. Nothing else on the agenda for tomorrow except more Couch Sittin. Perfectly okay with me. ¡Hasta mañana!

Funny story – D got his hearing tested about two years ago at his Dr.’s well visit. When it was over he had his head down and announced, “they kept saying bad words.” The nurse was shocked, and after a few moments of thought I figured it out. The BEEEEEEPS were the sound he hears when someone on TV is cursing and being bleeped. Sometimes I feel like we are detectives figuring out what our kids are trying to communicate!
Keep us posted on how daughter feels after her second injection. I have heard the second injection really requires about 8-12 hours of feeling a bit lousy, but the symptoms kind of vary. I hope daughter tolerates the shot well and is feeling like herself again in no time.
I love your picture! And seeing a happy Sven 🙂 Here is hoping for a great night tonight, a smooth vaccine and reaction for daughter tomorrow, and an overall great chill day tomorrow!

I will definitely let everyone know how she does with the vaccine 2nd shot. I think it will be a while before I get a shot. I was reading through the criteria of who gets vaccinated first, second, third… in tiers, like everything else. I’m sure each state will do it differently.
We ARE detectives or translators. We spend so much time with them, it’s easy to forget that other people don’t know all the scripts or who the favorite characters are this month🙄
I hope you have an excellent Sunday! 💃🏼🎶💕🦋

You and Sven Both have happy smiles! 😊 Chill everything sounds amazing. 💫 I love when I recognize a song as soon as it begins to play. I know that song but I had no idea there was an 80’s band called Talk Talk. 🤣🎶 Hope the night goes great for everyone and daughter does fine with the second dose of vaccine. Hugs! 🤗💕✨🌙🎶

Thank you, Suzanne! 🤗🥰 Bearded Dragons are kinda like birds in that they like to perch on your shoulder 🤷🏼♀️ so after his shower, I just stuck him in my hoodie with me. I kept a hand on him while I was walking around, but just standing, he held on.
I knew of the band… they did a song called Talk Talk. Yep, Talk Talk by Talk Talk 😂😂😂 I didn’t know they did this song though. I had to Goigle it😉😂
I hope your Sunday is super great!🦋🤗🥰💐💃🏼✨🌈💫

The best part about Couch Sittin is the very relaxed dress code 😉😂😂😂💌💌💌

Love the pictures, yours too. You’re looking good Angie, though I think you’ve lost weight since your profile picture.
I’m glad it was a day that went smoothly. Hope tonight and tomorrow are good too. Take care. Lots of hugs 🤗

Yeah… I’m a little afraid to get on the scale on Monday when I go to the doctor. I can tell I’ve lost more weight. Not a LOT, but probably another couple pounds. Too much stress!! Some people eat when they’re stressed, I don’t eat when I’m stressed. Hopefully now that the vaccine is SLOWLY being given, things will get better sooner, rather than later.
I hope you’re feeling better today!

Love your pic! 😍
I spoke with a doctor friend tonight who has had both shots. He said his arm hurt from the first and he only felt a little tired from the second. Hope Eldest’s goes smoothly!

Cool! Thanks, Paula. I told her she might not have the same reaction. And she’s gonna be tired anyway. The hospital is overflowing with COVID cases. No beds to put people in.
I feel bad for sick people, but they make me angry too! They were probably somewhere they shouldn’t have been

I also love that Talk Talk song. I can remember sneaking into gay bars (underage, mind you) and dancing my ass off when that song came on the sound system…

I never knew Talk Talk did that song, or if I did know, it got lost in my dustbin attic of memory.
The last 4 years have made me miss all the fun of the 80s even more. Maybe it’s just my “bubble”, but it seems like people were more tolerant then. Could be all the drugs everyone was doing🤔💖

Granted, the drugs may have played a part (full disclosure: my thing was pot, and that was about it, with a few side-dabbles into other things that never really satisfied), but yes, it was a more tolerant time in many respects. The hatred and bigotry was there, of course, sometimes intensely so, but society generally required that you be subversive and down-low about it. Now? It’s all out in the open…

Nice to see you and Sven. When my daughter was small, her play group leader called me to one side and said she was worried about her hearing and had I thought about getting her tested. I said no because her hearing was fine, which was obvious because her speech was excellent for her age. I’m sorry, I told her, she’s just ignoring you! She was good at that if she was enjoying herself with some activity and didn’t want to stop. Ben’s the same, I imagine. 😂

Absolutely the same!😂 He’s an expert at ignoring. We knew when he was a toddler that his hearing was fine. We’d start watch a show that he liked the theme music, and he’d come running down the hall as soon as her heard it.
He either doesn’t understand what they want him to do, or he just doesn’t wanna participate. I’m guessing it’s the latter😉😂😂
