Part 304 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Last night’s sunset was pretty nice. Not super dramatic, but just right. The Parrots even did a fly-by.

The rest of the evening went fine. We dropped Daughter at work, came home and I got The Boys tucked in, then texted Daughter to let her know we were home safe.

The usual routine followed… I wrote a couple emails, ate some food, yadda yadda yadda…

Daughter texted that Emergency Department was trying to send them patients that they weren’t set up for. She did get three admissions, but they weren’t the kind she was concerned about. The post-holiday/new variant surge is hitting San Diego County hard right now. The hospital is packed with COVID patients and just to keep things interesting, there has been a bunch of heart attacks and strokes too.

The Food Coma hit me in the middle of writing a comment. I woke around 1am, sent the comment, (sorry to whoever received it if it was weird, I don’t even remember who, or what the comment was about) then took my med and waited for it to pull me back under. I woke again with 6am alarm and couldn’t find my dang phone! I finally found it and turned the alarm off. UGH!

I got the old fashioned Bounce and “cuddle” today… elbows, pinchy toes between my calves, the who deal. It lasted about seven minutes total then he was off to the baño. I followed, gathering his stuff, and refilling his water bottle. Meds delivered, tablet plugged in, side door opened for Zeus, then my turn in the salle de bain. (so much nicer in Spanish and French, vrai?)

I was draggin and laggin this morning. I took a couple pictures of a gentle sunrise, but I was mostly looking for my avian friends. Daughter texted “I got shot” at 7:30am. I texted back that we’d head out. Ben was sitting on the couch, bouncing and singing the Rango song, totally into it, so it took a few to get him to get up and follow me out the door.

We got there a couple minutes before she came out. She got in the car, said Good Morning to Ben, and told me to drive. She said the second injection actually hurt more. The sting/burn/pain whatever was more as the liquid entered her muscle. The person then “knuckle-rubbed” the injection site to disperse it better. We came home, etc, etc, etc…

I went outside to check out the sky and look for birds and saw Georgie and Gracie, then Mr. Crow joined in. I talked to them and took pictures. I’d seen the G’s before we left to pick Daughter up, but they weren’t where I could see them when we drove by. I was very happy they came back. I went a little crazy with the pictures again…

The G’s Sunday Visit

Around 10:15am Daughter came out and said she couldn’t sleep. She took over Couch Sittin Duty and I went to get Horizontal. No argument from me.

Around 2pm I changed into public clothes, shoes and masked up. My mission was to get all the items on my list from the grocery store. Oh man, I really don’t like grocery shopping anymore. I needed to drop Ben’s new Adderall prescription off at the pharmacy also. It took me over an hour to get all the stuff and to get through checkout. Then I bagged my stuff while waiting in line at the pharmacy, but they hadn’t filled the meds. Some kinda something was wrong, I couldn’t understand the pharmacist. She’s super nice but a little flighty. I’ll probably have prescriptions to drop off after my pump fill appointment tomorrow (really tomorrow. I got the reminder text even) so I’ll check with them then and find out what the deal is.

I got home and started putting stuff away and Zeus was underfoot, and Ben decided he needed to play with his trains at that exact moment. I was Huffing and Puffing a little, mostly at Dogzilla, and Daughter told me to go lay down. She’d just got done telling me she wasn’t feeling well, and that she was exhausted, but she wouldn’t go lay down. She wanted to be awake to put Ben to bed. Anyway, she started crying because I sounded grumpy. I told her I wasn’t grumpy. Irritated at the dog underfoot, but that’s normal. She’s been awake since 2pm yesterday, plus had an awful three nights at work. She’s worn out, hence the tears.

Winding down to sunset, then getting Ben fed, doped, cleaned and off to bed. Groovy…

A not weird video from Cage The Elephant. Yeah, I know I just played them recently… I like this song!

Cigarette Daydreams – Cage The Elephant

Thanks for hanging out with us on another basically mellow day. I really have my pump fill appointment tomorrow morning and that’s it. The rest of the day will hopefully be spent Horizontally. Daughter is off work until Thursday night, so it should be Rinse, repeat… The response has been about equal to the pictures vs video question, so I’ll try to mix it up. That’s probably the best way anyway. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. I like that song but had never heard it acoustic before. Nice treat!

Glad everything worked out okay for you guys today. Here is hoping daughter starts to feel like herself again after being up for so long. I know I have had some rough patches of sleep this week and find myself weirdly emotional because of it. I also hope you have a very smooth experience at your pump refill appointment tomorrow. Smooth sailing with very little traffic. Fingers crossed for a very chill day!

    1. Thanks, Robyn!! I was nearly in tears taking Daughter to work last night. I think we’re ALL exhausted. All the election stuff, all the COVID stuff. Too much stuff!!
Then our guys feel it all too and drag on us. It’s amazing we are managing as well as we are. And you’ve got 4 kids… I mean 3 kids😉😂. You deserve a day doing absolutely nothing. Napping, reading, staring into space…
I hope you get that day soon!💕🦋

  2. I’ve heard from several friends and family members that the second Covid shot is a bit of surprise compared to the first one, a little more painful and uncomfortable. That’s not going to stop me, of course, as I’m all for getting the vaccine. I’m just patiently waiting my turn…
