Part 307 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

Sunset last night was a non-event. The clouds were too thick. I did take a few pictures… I’m always taking pictures…

I was happy to get a peek at the Moon before the clouds hid it again. At 5:45pm when the med alarm went off I went to ask Daughter when I should run Ben’s bath… and found her konked on the couch. I woke her, gave Ben his meds, and told Daughter to go to bed. She, being stubborn (I don’t know where she gets it) said “NO!” Alrighty then…

Yadda yadda yadda… bath, bed, Things and Stuff. I was writing an email to a friend a little after 9pm and… yep, konked! I woke at 10:23pm, wrote an apology for not finishing the email and sent it. Then I ate my soup, took my pill and was asleep BEFORE midnight! Shocking, right?!

I woke around 6:15am to a quiet house. I could hear Daughter, but the lump of animal on my bed was a small Sophie Cat lump, not a ginormous Zeus Dawg lump, which meant Ben was still in bed. WOOT WOOT!!

I stayed in bed until 7ish when Daughter let Dogzilla out of Ben’s room. Of course he came straight to me, and I gave him his scratches and belly rubs. Then I told him to go outside and go potty. He went to the living room and came back with a toy… Big Dumb Dog.

Ben got up and went to Daughter’s room while I was greeting Zeus. After I saw him run past my door on the way to the baño, I knew it was okay for me to get up and have my turn in our single bathroom.

I turned Sven’s lights on and got him fresh nom noms, but he wasn’t quite ready to greet the day.

I went outside to look at the sky. It was weird weather. The air was cool, like a regular winter morning, but the wind was blowing pretty strong and it was warm. It felt twitchy to me. The Guessers issued a Flash Flood warning for the eastern slopes of the mountains and the desert below them. I don’t think it’s going to affect us. The sky had a few clouds but they were going away, not gathering.

Ben and Daughter were hanging out in the living room. Daughter is feeling MUCH better today, except for a sore arm. She was watching the Inauguration stuff and I watched the swearing in of Kamala and Joe with her. I admit that I cried a little when Kamala swore her oath. She was my choice for the Big Chair, so I’m very pleased that she’s in the Second Chair.

The morning rolled on in a calm, peaceful manner and I read blog posts and talked to Daughter or Ben when I went to the front rooms, or they came to my room. Ben wanted chalk, so I gave him chalk and that kept his interest until about noon.

He jumped up and ran outside and started yelling his “Speech” that is a bunch of babble in “Benish” and ends with “…going to CVS!” I don’t know what the Speech is supposed to be, or what it means except Trouble. After yelling the Speech several times, he came inside, Bounced me and said “You have to get dressed, you have to go to the store.” DANG!

I asked him what he wanted. He said the get dressed thing again, so I told him I heard that part, what did he want? He said “Sweeney Todd Barber Chair toy” UGH! I am really, really not happy to see this “interest” come back around.

I told him if he wanted a new toy, I could give him a new toy. I told him he’d probably seen it when he went in my closet. Then I grabbed the box of PJ Masks figurines that I’d found in the back of the closet and gave it to him. He said “barber chair TOY!” so, I ran away to the bathroom. It was almost time for his 12:30 meds and food had just been delivered for Daughter, so he got doped and distracted. Whew!

Younger Daughter texted, just to chat and mentioned she and Partner had just done their COVID tests. I texted back with “WHAT?! Again? Who got exposed?” It was Partner and they never actually spent time around the person, and it was over a week ago. They were both getting tested just to be 100% sure. Better to be safe. Younger was thinking about coming by. I told her it was okay, but she couldn’t hug and kiss on Ben until she got her negative result. Better to be safe.

Ben has been chillin with Daughter most of the day. They’ve been watching Walking Dead on her laptop together. Ben has also been watching his tablet or playing with his letters or his Jumanji game… just relaxed. We were going to do laundry today, and I was going to drop my prescriptions off at the pharmacy and check on Ben’s, but Daughter and I both decided to just enjoy the calm day. I might go to the pharmacy after Ben goes to bed, or I might not.

We had a few sprinkles of rain… I can’t even really call it rain… the sky spit on us a few times, but the clouds are breaking up, so there might be something to see when sunset comes. It would be a nice way to end a good day.

Today was a very good day! I actually slept for at least six hours last night, maybe longer! (Keep working that magic, Robyn) Ben had a good day and Daughter was back to her normal, sarcastic self. Plus, the White House has a new occupant. All good things! Tomorrow is laundry and a trip to the pharmacy if I don’t go after Ben is in bed. Daughter has to go back to work tomorrow too. I’m glad we had one good day to just chill. Hopefully things will stay relaxed until PreGame tomorrow. We’ll find out, won’t we? ¡Hasta mañana!
