Part 320 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

I went outside to look around at 5pm last night out of habit, and because I like to go outside and get out of the house. There was a very small line of clear sky along the northwest horizon. I watched it change as the Sun was setting off the coast. (Since I live in a valley, there are kinda two sunsets. The first is when the Sun goes behind the western hills, and the second is actual sunset, when in slips into the Pacific) There was a little slice of pretty after all.

The evening went fine, all the usual with Ben, then my Things and Stuff. I went to sleep shortly after midnight. I woke a couple times, but went right back to sleep.

This morning I woke up at 5:15am to a good old fashioned Bounce. I didn’t get the cuddle, but I got sniffed and bedquaked. We stayed in my room until around 6am, then relocated to the living room.

I was very excited to see patches of blue as the sky lightened up. It was a good sunrise, except for the part where I fell.

I was getting coffee and looked out the kitchen window and saw the colors in the second picture. I kinda jog-trotted out the side door, and down the side of the house, getting ready to make the left turn to the back gate when my foot caught on a piece of wood that Ben used to sit on when he was “fishing” in the water/mud/dirt hole. It’s a flat piece of plywood, I have no idea how I could’ve tripped over a flat piece of wood, but I’m talented like that. My phone flew out of my hand, and I landed on my right hip and hands. No scrapes, no tears, no blood, and the phone was fine. I got up, and took the picture… walking. No more jog-trotting.

Paula suggested that we post about something we love every day this month. I had already posted yesterday, so I’m counting “loving the idea” in her comments for February 1. Today’s thing that I love is Seagulls!! Georgie and Gracie stopped by for a visit this morning.

Ben and I just hung out. He watched his tablet and played with some of his cars, ate some Pink Cookies, and chilled. I went through email, ordered some flowers to be delivered to my mother cuz even though we don’t have much of a relationship, I don’t hate her. I just can’t be around her very long because she’s toxic to me. Not purposefully, just because that’s who she is. It’s complicated, and not very interesting… moving on… Oh, I forgot to mention Mr Grumpy.

When I uncovered him and turned his lights on, I found him awake, and he’d made a mess of his leftover greens. Tsk tsk, Mr Sven. I cleaned up the mess, got him fresh food and took a few pictures. Later, he got a shower and a walk around outside. The clouds moved back in, so no bright sunshine to bask in.

Sven got a little upset at me waking him up in the shower. I sure missed his grumpy, side-eye glares when he was snoozin’!

Daughter got up at 10:00am, full of explanations and apologies. I told her it was whatever, and gave report. I didn’t wanna hear excuses, I’m DONE with the whole issue of her sleeping. I went and got Horizontal and was soon joined by Ladybug aka Ben, in costume. He stayed with me until it was time to Zoom at 11am.

The Zoom went okay. He sat through the session, which ended five minutes early because he was done, but he was distracted and didn’t really participate. Still, it was MUCH better than yesterday, and since he’d been asking for new chalk all morning, I gave him the last box of forty-eight piece. (three more are on the way, plus we have a few other various sized boxes)

Ben was in my room often. He wanted more chalk, he wanted me to “write the words”, he needed tape. UGH! I get that he was bored, but I’m not the entertainment director. Also, I will never understand why he won’t ask Daughter to do some of these things. I was feeling very grumbley. It’s my own fault really. If I hadn’t expected to have “off” time, I wouldn’t have gotten upset about it not happening. A reminder that there is no such thing as “off” time in the Parenting gig.

Ben said we were done with the writing of words, but he keeps randomly asking me for more. His interruption timing is impeccable in it’s irritation factor. I think I need to focus completely on him or I’m just going to start Huffing and Puffing. I don’t want to be grouch. I don’t like myself when I’m grouchy.

This song got a little overplayed, but I still like it. The video is cool too.

Another Casa Cuckoo day. Thanks for sharing it with us. I guess we’re in for six more weeks of Winter, ol’ Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. I wonder how many more weeks of no school we’ll have? Probably better not to think about that. Laundry never got done except a load of the muddy stuff that I washed and hung up, so I guess I’ll be seeing the Quarter Lady tomorrow. We also have THE Zoom tomorrow. The one the head of our district Special Ed will be observing. Also, Daughter goes back to work tomorrow night. I see turmoil in my future. Maybe I’ll be wrong. I’d like to be wrong about that. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Ooofff! I’m glad you landed okay and that you (and your phone) weren’t hurt! Great pictures too!

Uggghhh – good luck tomorrow with THE Zoom and with the laundry. Hopefully, all will go smoothly with both the special person and the quarter lady! Fingers crossed!

    1. Thanks, Robyn. I hope THE Zoom goes normal. Like with D and his tests, we don’t want it to go TOO well, but not quite Meltdown Status. The lady that’s the head of Special Ed loves Ben, so I’m not too worried about it. I think Daughter feels pressure over it, and when she’s upset it upsets Ben, and they spiral down.☹
Hopefully we ALL have a great Wednesday!!💕

  2. Oops! I hope you didn’t get hurt or bruised when you feel. I also have the talent to trip over anything but please be careful.
Except for less sleep, the day seems to be cool. I hope tonight goes well and so does tomorrow and laundry too.
Take care my friend. Lots of hugs 🤗

    1. I little stiffness, but that’s expected. I cant see any bruising, but the whole area is covered with plaque psoriasis so, who knows🤷🏼‍♀️
I used to tell my girls when they fell, “No blood, you’re okay. Go play” after kissing it better of course
I didnt get my Ouchie kissed better, but there was no blood, so I went and “played”, aka took my pictures 😉🤗🥰💕🦋💃🏼🌈

  3. Ugh! This falling stuff has to stop. We can’t have anything happen to you. You run that place and I can’t imagine anyone surviving without you.

Glad Ben’s zoom was supervised by the superintendent. It’s good to know they know you and your family. And I always cried at the IEP meetings. It was scary meeting those teachers every year and asking for accommodations for Andrew. Not easy stuff.

I’m grateful for my chickens Mabel, Bertha, Babe, Arthur, Bee Bee, Dolly, Mary Kate, Caramel Corn, and Scooby. I’m also grateful for donuts! Just made a batch and they were super moist and coated in orange zest sugar. Made with ricotta cheese and yogurt and orange vodka…Will put the recipe on my blog.

    Happy Wednesday. Sleep well

    1. I’ve always been accident prone. I have bruises and scrapes and no clue when I got them. I just can’t believe I tripped over a piece of plywood, laying flat.🙄🤦🏼‍♀️
I’m glad you’ve got your hens! And your garden! You’re so full of love, you need to nurture things. 🤗🥰😍💕💖
