Part 329 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Wednesday night’s sunset started very dramatic with a line of dark clouds along the top of the western hills. Then it just kinda fizzled out after the sun was down. It was breezy and chilly, so I didn’t mind going back inside earlier than usual. I heard the Parrots and took two pictures of them heading east. I didn’t realize they’d photo-bombed two of my sunset pictures until I was editing them. Shooting into the Sun is a lot of guesswork. I can’t really see to frame the picture well, and I have to hold the phone up, over my head to get above my fence and the neighboring yards. Anyway…

Daughter was lagging, and Ben was lagging as far a dinner, meds and the nightly routine goes. I admit I was irritated by it, I wanted to be done, but since there wasn’t much I could do about it, I kept my irritation to myself, and went along with the later schedule… bathing and cleaning up when the food had been eaten and the meds taken.

Blah, blah, blah… Stuff and Things. Yadda, yadda yadda… food, Food Coma, pill, real sleep with wakeups.

5:30am was when The Boys started my day. Ben was Captain Obvious this morning… “Gramma! I’m awake!” Nah, really? And yes, most of his statements are exclamations. I was very sad and confused to find the Coffee Dragon still sleeping. I thought I’d set it up, but apparently not. So I did that, and waited for the Burble and Hissing to be done.

While I was waiting, I looked out the kitchen window and saw a perfectly clear sky. No clouds meant no drama with sunrise, and no heat retention… in other words, too dang cold. I decided to skip sunrise today. I did take a stroll around the yard around 7:30am and didn’t even see any of my avian friends. I guess they all figured yesterday’s show was good enough. I’m sure they must have other folks to visit, other dumpsters to dive.

After finding some New Chalk for HRH, I refilled my coffee and settled into the dent for Couch Sittin Duty. Yee freakin haw!

Ben continued to do the chalk thang through his 9:30am med and his 10:30am med. He had Zoom School scheduled at 11:00am, but Daughter was still sleeping. I could’ve gone and gotten the laptop and attempted to sign in, but she was off work last night, and she’s off work tonight which makes the Zoomin her responsibility.

Daughter got up around 12:15pm. I came out of the baño and she was sitting on the couch. I said “Hi” she said “I didn’t go to sleep until almost 5am” I said “Okay” grabbed my stuff and went to get Horizontal, followed by Zeus, of course. Ben continued to do the chalk thang. A little while later she asked if I was mad, I told her I was done with being angry about it, she was gonna sleep when she was gonna sleep, and my getting angry only hurt me.

Ben asked for more New Chalk, so I got him a few more of the four packs. He continued to happily do his thang with the chalk. He did take a snack and tablet break for a little while, but went right back to the chalk. I was glad it held his interest. Everyone is happier when HRH isn’t restless and bored!

No Driving Miss Daisy tonight, so no time schedule to keep to. The most difficult thing about the rest of the evening will probably be cleaning up all the chalk… and all the dang chalk dust. At least it’s tile and not carpet.

Today’s thing that I love for Paula’s daily lurve prompt is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or in this case Hearts. I like the shaped ones better cuz they have more nom nom peanut butter.

When I saw Kristian’s post with the WOTD being Fantasy this song came to mind.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy – Bad Company

A pretty good day overall. I would’ve liked to stay in bed longer, but when HRH commands, I don’t have much choice except to obey. I prefer he NOT start with the door kicking, which is his go-to when I don’t move fast enough. And thank goodness for Crayola sidewalk chalk! Daughter goes back to work tomorrow night, so I forsee a visit to the domain of the Quarter Lady tomorrow. There will probably be another trip to some store for more snacks, or maybe a delivery. Tomorrow will probably be busier. But with Casa Cuckoo, ya never know. ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Daughter’s sleeping sounds frustrating. I would probably set the same Zoom limit. Thank goodness it was a chill day. I hope things go well for you tonight. Tomorrow sounds a little busier – I hope all goes well with that too! I haven’t seen those peanut butter cups – Bobby is my only chocolate eater – I should try to find those around here, he would love them!

    1. The Reese’s I got from the grocery store in their Valentine’s Candy area. They had trees at Christmas time. I go through phases with the sweets. I’ve had a box of See’s Truffles for 4 months and it’s only about half gone, but they’re a LOT richer than Reese’s 😉
It feels weird calling my days “busy” when I don’t really DO very much, but having Ben home and in my face all day is exhausting enough. It’s difficult to explain to people who’ve never really experienced it, isnt it?🤔💕🤗🌻

      1. It is! The projects are one thing, the scripting, and I know I have to listen to a lot of different thoughts or scenarios – all to keep the peace. It may not seem like a lot but it IS consuming!

    1. Working twelve hour shifts is no fun. I’ve done it. Not as a nurse, but when I worked at AAA. That’s what she wanted though🤷🏼‍♀️ She tried to get them to let her do it at her old job, but they wouldn’t go for it. She’s taking a couple extra days off next week, and a couple weeks in April. Hopefully that will help🤞 Ben going back to school will help too. He’s doing remarkably well, all things considered.💕🤗🦋🌻

  2. I love peanut butter but I am being prudent and not having any. No gallbladder means some difficulty in digesting fat. Not much chocolate either. But I’ve heard it gets better with time.
No high dramatic today, just a missed zoom class. You’re right it’s your daughter’s responsibility to keep to the schedule and if she doesn’t or can’t, then it no use for you to get upset.
I do hope it’s a better night and tomorrow.

  3. [Biting my tongue about Older and that thing about her not getting out of bed when she should, but I suppose I’m not biting all that hard if I’m typing this out.] Anyway, I love all of the Reese’s products, and I agree that the “special” versions, like the hearts, always have more luscious peanut butter. I may have already asked, but have you ever tried freezing them? We had some Reese’s “Christmas Trees” leftover from, well, Christmas, and I plunked them in the freezer, a little stash of frigid goodness to nosh on here and there…

    1. I have not tried freezing them. That might just cause frustration, cuz I dont think my “tooth glue” is strong enough for frozen. I’d be wanting a Reese’s and have to wait for it to thaw or hack at it with a knife. I’d probably cut myself, bleed all over the place, ruining the delicious treat… 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

  4. I know you sent us a pic of his chalk way back one time, but did he change his ‘creations’ at all as he got older or is he still doing it the same way as before? Like, don’t change a good habit kind of thing? I wonder what goes on inside his head…

Are you allowed to take a picture of his chalk? I’d be interested in seeing that if it’s ok, but please don’t cause any trouble on my account if there is a reason why this isn’t a good idea. 🙂

    1. Funny you should ask… I actually took a picture of what he was working on this morning. After reading your comment, I searched back through the pictures on my phone and grabbed a few more to use on today’s post.
Today’s creation he said was a rainbow. Sometimes he says they are the end credits of specific movies.
With his limited speech it’s hard to know what he sees or what he’s creating. He’s been lining up chalk since he was little… 4 or 5 years old at least.

  5. Sometimes I wish there was a way to tap a like on a specific photo so you could tell which our favorites are. Wouldn’t that be cool?!
Reese’s are super awesome! Have a super Reesesrific day! 🥰❤️🎶☕️

    1. I can never pick a favorite. That why I post so many. Thank goodness Jeff told me about YouTube and I discovered I can put 50! pictures in a video. It helps narrow down when I’ve taken over 100 pictures 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣
      I had a Reese’s Heart at 3am when I woke up😳😂💃🏼🦋🌻💕
