Part 330 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

Starting with today’s thing that I love for Paula’s February Daily Lurve prompt, and for ClaudetteBen’s chalk Creations. These pictures are from 2019 through today. Sometimes he says they are the end credits from certain movies, today (the last onea WIP, hence the mess) he said “Look! A rainbow!” The carving of the notches into some of them is fairly recent. I love that it keeps him busy and happy (he’s often singing or making Happy Noises when he does his thang) and it’s creative.

Last night went fine. Daughter pointedly didn’t talk to me except when necessary, Ben lagged, ate, took his bath… etcetera, etcetera, etcetera… Sunset was kinda pretty then fizzled again. ร‡’est la vie.

The sky in the last one looks kinda like a stormy ocean at cliffs. Anyway, after The Boys were behind Ben’s closed bedroom door, Daughter went to her room and I did my usual Stuff and Things, food, pill and sleep around 10:30 or 11:00.

Wake ups around 1am and 3am, as usual, then The Bounce at 5:15am. Ear sniffing, bedquakes, blanket stealing and the Royal Command to relocate followed. I didn’t even try to convince him to stay in my bed, I just whined about it still being dark outside. Ben said “Sun coming up soon!” Yeah, yeah…

He started doing the chalk thang as soon as he saw me exiting my room. I made my pit stop, got coffee, and plopped into the dent… Couch Sittin Duty at 5:30am. Sigh…

Ben was very chipper. He sang and made his Happy Noises and made his latest chalk creation, while I sat and tried to keep my eyes open and uncrossed. At 6:30am I gave him meds, aka doped his face, then went to look at the sky. There were some patches of blue and I was hopeful the predicted storm would pass us by. When I went back out later, my hopes were dashed… more clouds, no blue and the wind had picked up and gotten colder. BOO!

I went back in and uncovered Sven. He was awake, but unimpressed. I got him some fresh greens, pet him a little, then left him alone. Yes, yes… after taking pictures, of course. A little while later I noticed he was at his food dish, so I got up to take more pictures. He got mad and climbed back onto his hammock. Fine! I told him that his fans would be disappointed. He just glared.

Daughter got up at 8:15am and started a load of laundry. When her clothes were done I took Ben’s basket and my basket out and ran both of those through the washer. When all three were done, I took them to the laundromat. It was busy today and I didn’t get my first or even my second choice of dryers. Laundry seemed cursed today. I’d already caught my bracelet, a gift from a friend, on the mesh of one of the baskets, and had to ask Daughter to help me get it loose.

Ben was still in my room when I got back. He’d been back and forth, and had gotten under the blankets at 10:15am or so. When Daughter brought his 10:30am med in I was surprised he was still in my room. He and Zeus had been bedquaking me and when it stopped, I thought he’d left. He was just relaxing and looking outside. Cool! I guess the 10:30 Zoom was gonna be a miss. I didn’t ask, Daughter was still barely speaking to me.

At 12:30, after his meds, I went back to get the clothes. The chalk delivery that I expected yesterday had come around noon, and while Ben was chillin in my room, Daughter and I got the boxes into the house. He’d come out of my room right after I’d gotten the two big delivery boxes broken down and put in the recycling bin. There was one box still in the living room, inside it was a forty-eight piece box, and a twenty-four piece box. I gave him the twenty-four piece, then I went to get the clothes. I brought them home and folded and put away both his basketful and mine. Then I got Horizontal, I was tired.

Around 2pm Ben went on the great search… the search for ALL THE CLOTHES. He’d asked for them earlier and I told him I’d washed them. I only put the white button down shirt and the jacket in the dryer, the vest and tie I was gonna hang to dry, but it was still spitting outside. It never properly rained, or even sprinkled… it just kept spitting for a minute or two. Anyway, he found the shirt and jacket, which I kinda hid but not really, and was freaking out about the vest. Daughter was telling him she didn’t know where it was (untrue). I could hear his tone ramping up, and I didn’t want him to go full freak-out over some stupid clothes, so I got the vest and the tie and gave them to him, telling him they were wet. Surprisingly he took them outside and hung them up. Then started “painting” with the chalk that was outside when it was spitting… wearing only his boxer-briefs and the white button down.

It’s getting to be about that time. The mad rush to get Ben fed, doped, bathed and into his PJs before we Drive Miss Daisy. Maybe there will be a pretty sunset in there too. The sky is constantly changing, the clouds are moving fast. It’s relaxing to watch, so I’ll be looking at the sky even if the sunset isn’t visible… in between all the other stuff.

I was listening to a different Killers song and looked up some of their other songs on YouTube. I really like this one. I hadn’t heard it before.

Read My Mind – The Killers

Happy Lunar New Year! It’s the Year of the Ox. I don’t know what the traits of an Ox year are, but I’ll find out and let you know. Or you could always Goigle them yourselves. Driving Miss Daisy tonight, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow night. Only two nights this time, then she’s off until next Friday, the nineteenth. That will be good for everyone. So tomorrow will be a Couch Sittin Day for me. Ben will be pleased to have his most tractable peasant close at hand. No Zoomin, so it’s already a good day, right right? Right right! ยกHasta maรฑana!

  1. Oh my these are quite fantastic!! The color schemes, the geometric aligning…wow. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thank you for taking the photos. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ I can only imagine the dust…

I wonder if he would like to work with mosaic…

    1. We had a bunch of mosaic tiles when he was younger… I wonder what happend to them. It might be worth a try. If he doesn’t want to make pictures with them, he’ll want me to tape them together into buildings or objects.๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

        1. I’ll look through my pictures. I’m sure I have a few. His “interests” run in cycles. He has a few and he rotates them. The chalk thang is a constant, but right now he’s on the “Sweeney Todd Barber Chair”, before that was trains and usually trains is the underground train to the Hive from the 1st Resident Evil movie. Then there’s Big Ben Clock, and that goes along with “V for Vendetta” and Big Ben plus all the other buildings. Then there’s “DreamWorks, Fox Searchlight/20th Century Fox, Columbia…” movie logos. I’ve drawn (which I SUCK at! Seriously, zero drawing skill) the boy fishing off the crescent moon of DreamWorks hundreds if not thousands of times, he unscrewed all the knobs off the kitchen cabinets to use as “searchlights” in recreating the Fox logo. We’ve reproduced Sleeping Beauty’s Castle from the Disney logo out of dominoes.

He’s super creative, but sometimes he wants things at angles that defy tape. And it’s never done. There’s always a few more additions, or sometimes a complete remodel. Also, one is never enough. I have to make several of whatever. Not on the same day usually, but daily, weekly… ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ
          Yeah, I’ll look for pictures๐Ÿ˜‚

  2. Oh my gosh, the song! I was so in between one pregnancy and then another when I was jamming to this Killers song. I also fell in love with Brandi Carlile and her song at the same time, I think, on the same VH1 countdown:

Love the pictures. It is always great to see Sven, even when he is unimpressed :-). I hope you guys have a great night tonight and a wonderful day tomorrow!

    1. I’ve never heard that song before! I had to look up when both were released… looks like they were both around 06 or 07… Makes sense why I don’t know either song. Those were bad bad BAD years for me pain-wise, and the ex left in July 08…

Thanks for the intro to a new song!๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ I hope you guys have a great Saturday!๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒป

  3. These chalk patterns are really good. It take a lot of planning to arrange them like this. The sunset was amazing too. You had a as lot to do today and as an added bonus, you had to tolerate olderโ€™s mood too. I just hate it when that happens.
I hope she calms down and is nice to you.
Lots and lots of hugs my friend

    1. Thanks, Sadje!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ Daughter is feeling defensive, so she goes on the offense. She’s always been this way. It makes it difficult to talk to her about things. I usually have to come at a subject by indirect route so she doesn’t get defensive.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ It will blow over. I just carry on like everything is normal.
      I hope your Saturday is fantastic!๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ซ

      1. I know exactly what youโ€™re talking about. Itโ€™s also the burden and stress she must feel. My daughter also had these feelings. Now as she is home and has a proper job, things are better.
        Thanks for your sweet wishes.

  4. I love to see the art work Ben makes. Itโ€™s soo cooool. You know he is one of a kind and very special. I could see his work in a fancy art museum someday. These abilities he has to match up colors , sizes, patterns etc are really fascinating. It amazes me how he thinks.

We havenโ€™t seen Andrew in a couple of weeks. He was on track to get a job as a greeter at a vaccination program when we spoke last. Then Ken said he wasnโ€™t sure about the hours… bla bla bla.
We are hoping he and his girlfriend will spend time with us today or tomorrow.

Not sure what happened with your daughter. I guess i need to catch up on my reading.

I was invited to a Princess ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป Tea Party today. I need to find a dress ๐Ÿ‘—. ๐Ÿคฆ.
I was invited yesterday. And of course i tood her I would bring tea cakes ๐ŸŽ‚ which are difficult to make.
    Better get going.
I have an apple fritter sitting here that needs some munching on. My sweetie brought it home for me. Love this guy!

  5. Really enjoyed seeing Ben’s creativity. Those chalk designs are great. I love The Killers, particularly their earlier stuff. Brandon Flowers has a very sexy voice (in my humble opinion.) ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’•

    1. They’re very good. I wasn’t aware of their early stuff and I wondered why. I looked up when this song was released and saw that it was during a very bad period in my life. No wonder I didn’t know the music. It’s fun to discover ‘new to me’ music from bands I like.๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

  6. Hi, I know this post isn’t new but I wanted to tell you that the chalk creations are very pleasing! The pictures really caught my eye. Your sunsets are very pleasing, too, but I think the chalk has the edge!

    1. Thank you! Ben really enjoys making them. It would be great if he could find a way in the future to make some money with it… pay for the chalk at least ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’ve been thinking about you. Hope all is well with you and yours!๐Ÿคž๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’•
