Part 337 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

We’ve had a mild Santa Ana with the dry winds the past few days. It’s nice to see the Sun, but there are zero clouds. Sunset is still nice, but not the awe-inspiring, dramatic nice. The Parrots are still around, and I see them, but they’re SO fast, and usually far away so I haven’t been able to get pictures. The Black Phoebe comes to visit and chat most nights. I didn’t notice “Phoebe” right away last night, so I got either a song, or chewed out… it was sweet either way.

Ben continued to be mellow, did all his stuff and went to bed and sleep without too much trouble. Younger called to ask if she could use our shower. They’re still waiting for the sewer dump hose for their trailer to be delivered and the tank is getting full-ish. I told her of course.

Older Daughter had already turned her light off and gone to sleep when Younger arrived around 10pm. She decided she was going to do some cleaning of my house before her shower. Yeah, have at it! There are a lot of things I just can’t do. I push myself too much as it is, taking care of Ben and doing all the errands. I have been declared one hundred percent disabled, and anything that requires the use of my arms and hands is difficult. Anyway, she cleaned for an hour, then took her shower. Hugs and “I love you”s and she went back home. I konked out around midnight.

The usual wee hour wakeup was around 4:30am, but I went back to sleep after fifteen or twenty minutes. The Bounce woke me up just after 7am. I missed the 6:30am med alarm again. I guess that’s a good thing… if I’m not already awake, that means Ben isn’t either so the alarm reminder isn’t needed. Anyway (my “come back from the tangent and get to the point” word) Ben got under the blankets with me so I stayed in bed and didn’t worry about his meds right away. We eventually moved to the living room, Daughter got up and another Casa Cuckoo day began.

I started laundry right away. Daughter left her basket by the side door, so I took it out to the washer and threw it in after my stuff and Ben’s stuff was done. All the laundry was washed by 10:30am but that was med and Zoom time. Daughter said no Zoomin today. Cool with me. Ben was kinda antsy anyway.

I waited til 11am to take the clothes over to the laundromat. Quarter Lady was standing right next to my dryers. She said hello to me and I said hello back. Very pleasant and completely nothing. I got the dryers going and headed to Vons.

My pharmacist and tech were both working. I’m always happy to see one or both of them cuz they are efficient and know me. When one has three prescriptions: an opiate, a benzodiazepine and an amphetamine, one is happy to be known and not given the stink-eye. I dropped them off and went to get the stuff on my list.

They were out of Pink Cookies, except the two-pack. Ugh! I grabbed a few of those, and I got some Oreos too. It will either be okay or it won’t. I got everything else on the list, had an older lady cut ahead of me in the checkout line, let it go, took the stuff to the car, then got text notifications that my prescriptions were ready… ten minutes early… so I went back in to get them. Then headed back to the laundromat to get the clothes. There was two minutes left on the dryers when I got there… perfect timing.

I brought all the stuff from the car to the front door, and Daughter helped get it into the house… Dogzilla wiggled, whined and was generally in the way the entire time. His manners are getting so bad! I don’t know what his deal is, but he needs to knock it off! Daughter put the groceries away, I started folding Ben’s stuff, then my stuff. I got it all folded and put away, then got Horizontal just as the 12:30 med alarm went off. I was tuckered out.

Ben came and joined me on my bed around 1pm, asking to use my tablet. It was easier than going back to the living room to get his, so I handed it over. Ben stayed with me until 2pm or so, then went to hang out with Daughter for a while, then wandered outside to sweep and play with the chalk out there.

It’s a work night for Daughter. That means PreGame Show and Driving Miss Daisy. I’ll try to watch the sunset too. Hopefully all will go well.

Eeyore is today’s Lurve offering for Paula. I like all the Winnie The Pooh characters, but Eeyore is my favorite. I have three stuffies, but one was stolen by Ben and was victim of a Stuffy Massacre in the Spring of 2020. I also have an Eeyore onesie jammies, but no pictures of me wearing it. I had an Eeyore coffee mug that Dogzilla’s tail knocked to the tile floor. That was a sad day.

I heard this song on the radio while I was running errands. I hadn’t seen the video before today… OH EM GEE!! It’s a hysterical tour through band fashions from the Fifties through now. Too funny! And a good song too… Enjoy!

Dani California – Red Hot Chili Peppers

Another day full of Willy Wonka scripting. Another up and down, rollercoaster day. That’s “normal” for Casa Cuckoo. We’re Driving Miss tomorrow morning and tomorrow evening, with a whole lotta Couch Sittin Duty in between. I’m holding on to the fact that it’s almost Monday… almost GLYSB Day. I just gotta keep plodding through until then. We’ll try to have some fun too, right right? Right right! ¡Hasta mañana!

  1. Mellow encounter with the quarter lady! Nice! That is nice the pharmacist knows you too. I only have to deal with an amphetamine and if I get a tech that doesn’t know me when I pick up or drop off I feel like I am already getting my Miranda rights read to me when the med is legit. Maybe not that far but I definitely feel the LOOK. I come to the conclusion that the tech does not live with anyone that deals with ADHD or sees the benefit of the drug.
Here’s also hoping the two-pack of pink cookies and the Oreos are sufficient. And that you have a great night and an awesome weekend ahead. Just a few more days until the GLYSB!!!

    1. The pharmacies got super Judgey when the DEA started going after the opioids. That’s another reason to be thankful for my pump. I only get 30 morphine tablets a month now, but since the Restotil, the sleep med, is a benzo my pain doc asked me to get a letter from my primary that it was okay for me to take an opiate and a benzo together. It all hurts the people using their meds properly, not the people involved with the stuff on the streets.🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s a whole different can of worms… BIG can!

Yes, I’ve been successful in keeping Monday in the back of my mind, afraid Mr Murphy would mess it up, but I’m getting excited for real now. I’m still gonna be nervous until I see the bus pull away, and get the text that he’s been scanned off at school.🤪😂😂 Daughter is off work Sun & Mon nights too, so that will help. 💃🏼🚍👋🥰

  2. The day seem to go smoothly for you all Angie. Very nice of younger to do cleaning when she dropped in for shower. Very excited for Monday too. Over here it’s two day school and going well. I hope they soon can do it full schedule.
Hope you have a restful night. Love and hugs.

    1. Is your grandson liking school there? It must be a big change for him!

Ben’s school is rotating the kids in for 2 days also. It’s a smaller school but they have kids from 6 years old to 22 years old. The older ones spend more time in the community… job skills and life skills.

I dont expect them to do more days until summer at the earliest… end of June. I’m happy with two days. Gosh, 5… it’s been so long I’ve forgotten what it was like😂😂

      1. He is adjusting well. The very strange coincidence that happened was that one of the boy he was friends with in play schism in the same class and same section with him. They kept in touch while in America and it has helped him settle in better. The school is going half strength too, half the class one day and then the other half the next day.
One day, hopefully things will go back to 5 days a week. 🥰😍

    1. It didn’t use to be such an issue, but for several years now there’s been a big deal made of addiction and deaths from opiate meds. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and a bunch of other groups have gone after doctors, pharmacies and pain patients. Nevermind that a lot of the OD deaths are from street drugs.🤦🏼‍♀️ Whackadoodle Government has to appear to be DOING something.
As usual, they’re making thing more difficult 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️💌💌💌
