If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Ben started falling asleep around 5pm, so I jostled him, made him sit up, then brushed and rebraided his hair. I knew that would get his adrenaline pumping. Daughter was cooking his steak while I was torturing him, so he ate while I looked at sunset.
Everything was going great. Ben had his bath and was ready, Daughter was getting ready, we were actually ahead of schedule, then there was a knock on the door. I figured it was a delivery and ignored it, but the person said “Hello, Zeus”… who the Hello Kitty…?
I looked out the peephole, but couldn’t tell who it was, so I opened the door, figuring a neighbor. Nope! It was Daughter’s friend. (Not the BFF, and Ben’s “nina”) She had two gifts wrapped in Christmas paper. She said she was just dropping them off. Ben got all excited, Zeus got all excited, and I got ALL irritated. I sent her back to Daughter’s room, and tried to calm The Boys down.
She wound up taking Daughter to work, which was nice, but it would’ve been better if she hadn’t come by, or if she’d just left the gifts outside. Daughter got The Boys settled in Ben’s room before she left, and I started my Stuff and Things early.
By 9:30pm I was done with everything except my pill, and was ready to go to sleep. The only problem was, Ben was still awake. I’d already shushed him a couple times, I went and told him to go to sleep… again. I told him I wanted to sleep, but I couldn’t until he was sleeping. At 10pm I took my pill, and konked soon after.
I woke at midnight, I woke at 1:30am, I woke at 3:10am, and I woke at 5am. Not a good night’s rest, Not. At. All. I was laying in bed going through email when at 5:45am, Ben’s door banged open, and he ran down the hall. Zeus ran straight to my room, treating me to bedquakes and ear-sniffing. I said Good Morning to him, and to Ben. Ben turned on the overhead light, opened my closet, and was generally snooping, and making his presence known. I told him to knock it off, and get under the blankets. For a wonder, he did. I got up, baรฑo bound. Zeus followed, but Ben stayed in my bed.
We had the usual Driving Miss Daisy morning. Lots of running around, lots of chaos, but it was better than yesterday. Sunrise wasn’t as pretty, but still nice. We left a few minutes early to get Daughter cuz Ben was ready, and I didn’t wanna give him any time to find something distracting.
Daughter was a few minutes late getting off work, just a rough night from when her friend showed up, until she got in the car and we headed home. After she was changed, and on the couch, I headed out for my walk. I went early so she could go sleep earlier. I did the same route as yesterday, and I did it at exercizing speed. I was done in twenty minutes, so same distance… five minutes faster. Progress. I took over Couch Sittin Duty at 8:20am.
Ben was buggin, off and on, about a “bigger box of chalk”. I told him we had to wait, or I ignored it. After his 9:30am med, he went outside, and played with some of the old chalk out there. I took his 10:30am med to him out there. He came back inside a half hour or so later, used the baรฑo, flopped on the couch, and said “Gramma? Bigger box of chalk, please.” I thought about trying to put him off again, but he did ask nicely. I got the other forty-eight piece, and gave it to him. I told him it was the last one, that we’d have to wait til at least after school Tuesday for more. He said “No bus today.” I agreed. He dumped the box and started doing his thang. I sure hope Tuesday’s delivery is on time.
Daughter got up and took over Couch Sittin Duty at 2:45pm. I got my stuff, refilled my coffee cup, then headed to my room for Horizontal Time. Zeus followed immediately, Ben followed about ten minutes later.
Today’s Lurve offering for Paula is that yearly treat, Girl Scout Cookies. Daughter brought some (ten boxes!) home from a coworker. It’s a bummer that Savannah Smiles were discontinued, but we got some of our favorites, and a pack of S’mores to try.

Ben is having “white chicken” for dinner tonight. At least, that’s the plan. Plans change quickly at the Casa. Driving Miss Daisy tonight, so PreGame Show, maybe some sunset viewin’ too.
April 18, 1983, I went to see him play live. It was a fun show. I danced and danced!
A typical Casa Cuckoo day. A little bit of drama, a little bit of chill, and a whole lotta chalk. Daughter is off tomorrow night, but since she works tonight, she’ll still be sleeping during the day, so it will be Couch Sittin Duty for me. Tomorrow is GLYSB Eve, yippee! I have no idea what else might happen, hopefully a whole lotta nothin’!

Hmm…. a break in the routine must be disturbing for all of you. Iโm glad things settled down later. Both the sunset and sunrise are beautifully captured.
Yay for walking daily. It should improve your quality of sleep. It does for me! I hope things go according to plan tonight and tomorrow. Lots of hugs and love โค๏ธ

Thanks! It’s too soon to see any changes I think, with the walking. It would be nice if my sleep improved. I seem to be doomed in that area.๐๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ I go to sleep early and still wake up a bunch of times๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Part of it is the Fibromyalgia too. It makes it more difficult to reach the “deep sleep” stage of the sleep cycle.โน
I hope you have a lovely, peaceful Sunday!๐บ๐ฆโจ๐ค๐ฅฐ๐

That really stinks about your sleep. I seem to be in the routine of waking up between 3-4 and that just staring at those red numbers on the clock. Then I’ll get comfy and want to sleep again at 5:30 and have to get up at 5:45. But my sleep is usually okay from 10-3 when the tossing starts, so I guess I’ll take it!
That also stinks about the visitor. For us, it is always the darn solicitors that rile everything up and it takes forever to calm down and get back on schedule. uggh!
I hope you guys have a great day today – one more day until the GLYSB!!

I think people who know you should announce via phone call before they drop by…knowing how difficult it is to keep order at the house with the boy and the dog…Wishing you a much more restful night tonight!

Thank you!๐ We actually DO have a rule, and even Younger Daughter doesn’t just “drop in”, although she’s welcome to.
This friend just had zero impulse control. Not good for someone nearly 30.
She told Daughter she expected her to be at work, which seriously pissed me off. She was just gonna drop in on ME, alone with Ben?? I know she wasn’t trying to stir shit, but she didnt think. If she just wanted to drop the gifts, she should have just left them at the door.
Sorry… rant over. Girl bugs!!

Rant all you want. That was really difficult to handle for you. Even though my kids aren’t on the autism spectrum, when they were younger I really did not appreciate an interruption into the routine in the later part of the day when I was hanging by a thread with my patience and they were bouncing off the walls. Even good intentioned relatives would get a chilly welcome from me when they dropped by and brought others while the house was upside down and the kids nowhere near relaxed after I had just managed to get them to start relaxing….ugh. It’s so much worse for you, I can only just imagine…
Sigh.
Anyway you survived, and will again. Hopefully your daughter talked to her friend and reminded her about the rules.

HI Angie
Great to see you are walking in the morning.
I planted seeds today. It’s been on my to do list. It was therapeutic and felt good to finally plant sweet peas, snow peas, dill, basil and microgreens.
Also finally wrote my blog. So you probably already knew that.
Sleep well tonight

Thanks Teri! I did see your post and was happy to see you looking so happy! I’m glad you’re enjoying your garden and learning new things! You seem much happier than several months ago. Spring after Winter, right?
