Part 360 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

When sunset started I took a few pictures, then went back inside to get out of the wind. I got sidetracked for a bit, and when I went to look again, the Sun was no longer visible. Oh well… the sky was still pretty.

The evening continued with the groovy vibe. The Boys were settled in bed, and except for a baño run by HRH around 8:30pm, were quiet.

I did the usual and konked around 11:30pm. The wakeups were brief, and I was sleeping well… until I got BOUNCED at 5am. (The clock may have read 5am, but my body knew it was really 4am) Ben was AWAKE!

He got under the blankets with me for about fifteen seconds, then ran off toward the baño. My eyes were crossed and I felt dizzy. Meds, exhaustion, or just the rude awakening… I was NOT functional. I listened to the noises from the front rooms, but didn’t hear anything too concerning, so I drifted.

I heard Daughter get up around 6am and ask Ben “Are you supposed to have that? Did Gramma give that to you?” That woke me up! I knew he’d gotten into the delivery packages. Ben thinks anything that comes to the house must be for him. I’d managed to get them into the house, but forgot to put them away last night.

Since I was awake, I got up. I took the packages he’d opened and put them away. They actually were for him… a new white dress shirt, and a new vest and tie, but I didn’t want him to wear them today. I was saving them for Monday or Tuesday, GLYSB Days. Anyway, I was a Grumpysaurus Rex this morning. Even the sky didn’t un-grumpify me.

I got my coffee and uncovered the other Grump. He glared at me. I got him some fresh food and dumped one of the roaches on top. That perked him up. It perked me up too cuz I got to paparazzi him, and giggle at his goofy attempts to catch his food.

Feeling better, I got Ben some chalk before he even asked, and prayed his meds would start working soon. He was bouncing all over the place and making SOOO much noise… Crackerjack mode. I got Horizontal under a throw blanket and started going through my email.

Then the 9:30am med alarm was going off. Dang! I’d konked out again. I postponed my walk this morning because I was cold, and it was cold outside. I’d checked the Guessers site and saw that it was supposed to be warmest at noon… 60°F (15.5°C) so I planned to walk then.

The time between 9:30am and noon went somewhere, I’m not sure where, but it went. I did change clothes and go for my walk. It was overcast, and the wind coming at me up the five lane street I live on was chilly, but after I turned the corner it was nicer. I completed the walk in thirty-one minutes with one picture stop.

When I got back home, Ben was waiting for me. He wanted more chalk. Ugh! I love that it keeps him occupied, and it’s kinda creative. It’s also messy, and expensive. Oh well, I guess video games would be expensive too, and he’d probably want to play shooting games. Chalk is good!

I told Daughter I’d give her a break if she wanted one, changed into my sloppies, and got Horizontal. I was behind. Behind on what? On my daily so-called life schedule. Mostly I needed to catch up on my WP Reader, so that’s what I attempted.

I got through my Reader and was going through my email again. Ben came into my room to hang out on the bed with me. Around 3pm he jumped up and ran outside.

Daughter checked on him, asked him if he was being good. I asked where he was, she told me at the wall, “but he said he’s being good.” I said “and you believed him?” Right about then is when we heard the sound of an object hitting the stucco. I went out to talk to him, and he actually stopped. He got back on my bed, and watched his tablet. I found the hidden box of Pink Cookies and gave it to him and thanked him for stopping the wall busting.

After eating all the frosting off the cookies, Ben went back to the living room and his chalk. I could hear him singing and talking with Daughter. It was nice to hear them joking around.

The time change is already messing with me. Sunset won’t start around 5:30pm anymore, it will be 6:30pm, then later until June’s Solstice. I’ll be missing a few when I have to Drive Miss Daisy. Yet another reason I wish Daughter drove.

For Pi Day… (should 22nd of July be a Pi Day too?)

Cherry Pie – Warrant

Only a few days left of the Daily Adventures. This has been a strange journey, and I’m so thankful that you’ve all supported me through this crazy year! The Adventures will continue, they just won’t be daily. There will still be Happy Dancing on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:30am PDT, whether it’s posted or not. One reader told me they’d like me to write more about myself. I’ve thought about doing more Turbulent Teens posts. Is there anything YOU want to see more or less of?

  1. I love catching up with you every day. Whatever you will write about, I’ll be interested.
I’m glad you’re had a chillaxing day. I thought California was more temperate weather wise. I wouldn’t mind some cold air in Lahore right now, because it’s getting summery way too early.
An hour stolen by time change. I used to dislike both the jumping forward and backwards of the clocks. Never made any sense to me.
Hope you have a good sleep tonight. Lots of hugs!

    1. California IS usually warmer. I remember my jasmine and honeysuckle blooming in late February. It’s supposed to rain again Monday. Climate change! The weather is more extreme.
I hope we don’t go from Winter cold to Summer hot. Spring is my favorite season and I’m sooo ready for it! 🌻🦋🌞🤗🥰💐🌈🌠💕

    1. Thanks, Paula 🥰 Yeah, it’s been interesting. I haven’t even written much about the political activism. Being at City Hall one year on Election Night when a friend ran for Mayor… marching in the Pride Parade.
Really fun memories. Also really horrible memories. I can’t wait til I can run away from home and do more silly stuff!💃🏼🥳🦋💕

  2. I will also read whatever you choose to write about. I like your daily posts! I will miss them when they stop.
The time change – ugh! Totally threw me for a loop yesterday when I had to take Catelyn to her soccer game which was an hour and a half away. Doing all that math – trying to figure out when to leave WITH the time change. Ugh, I was a mess. Getting everyone up this morning for school was a drag fest too. None of us enjoy this draggy feeling. I wish the time change would just stop.
I hope you have a great day today! GLYSB! YAY! Have a great day!!

    1. Thanks, Robyn!🤗🥰 I might still post most days, but shorter! 😂 There are prompts I’d like to do, but don’t have time for… plus, some days I want to just hang out in comments, like the old days😉
If I math’d correctly, #365 should be Friday, the 19th. Spring Equinox is the 20th, so on the 21st I’ll have to do a Sciencey Stuff Edition of Adventures so we can see if Spring Equinox matches with last September’s Autumnal Equinox. I can’t decide if I should keep numbering the Adventures, make Spring Equinox #366, or 2.1, or just name the posts…🤷🏼‍♀️
I hope you enjoyed some Robyn Time🥳, and have a great evening🤞💕💃🏼💐

  3. I’ve missed your adventures. Finally got round to decorating my lounge so I’ve been busy with the paint brush. Very happy with the results – I should have done it years ago! Love your black and white photo of the tree roots. 🙂

    1. Yay! Decorating and painting💃🏼🎉 I’m wanting to do some serious de-cluttering and a big Spring Clean, if Spring ever arrives, and if/when Ben’s school goes full time.
I’ve been experimenting with b&w, and I’m liking the results. Thank you!🤗💕💌

  4. You have been inspiring writing every day. I’ve barely been able to keep up with them.

I say write what your heart desires. Not because it’s what we want to hear, but what is on your mind and heart. You are an exceptional mother and grandma and I’ve learned a lot from you.

Love you health goals. You must take care of you.

I got my covid shot last Fri and Ken gets his tomorrow. Here’s to staying healthy and being safe. Things are opening up here, but there is a UK variant that is spreading in Contra Costa County. I’m not wanting to get this thing, even though I’m “youngish” and healthy.
When I get off the computer, I will juice some celery, beets, apples, cucumber, turmeric and ginger. It’s so “good for you”. As my grandmother would say.

Take care Angie and stay warm on those walks.

    1. I’m too young at 53 to get vaccinated until they open it to everyone 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s okay with me. I’ve been a hermit for years, so my lifestyle didn’t change, except having Ben home full time. I’d rather that Younger could get hers sooner, but that’s just the Mama Bear wanting to protect her😉🤗🥰
San Diego County moved from purple to red today. I hope Spring Break doesn’t send us back to purple. SDSU is still known as a “party school”🤦🏼‍♀️

  5. As several folks have already said, you should just write what you want to write. (It’s obvious that I’m all OVER the board at Bonnywood.) I think it’s fair to say that many of us are here for your personality and writing style, not necessarily the content. (Not that there’s anything wrong with the content, mind you.) Just be yourself and do what you find interesting. We’ll still be here… 🙂

    1. I had an idea… (everyone shudders) I thought it might be fun to reach into Ye Olde Pickture Boxxe, grab a random photo and tell the story. Pictures from the 70s and 80s. I know there are some truly unfortunate outfits in that mess of pictures. Lots of bad hair too.
Thank you for nudging me to write more, and for reading the blah ditty blah blah blah around the occasional “good ones”.🙏🤗💕
