If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
Sunset was kinda Meh last night…
… but I took pictures anyway. Having sunset start later threw me off. Ben didn’t get his meds til 6:45pm, then bath a little after 7pm. I needed to finally wash the mud, dust, chalk and whatever else out of his hair. It was so bad I had to rinse, repeat for real. Surprisingly, he didn’t fight me, but it was still wrassling the octopus, cuz he was goofing off.
The Boys were finally settled in Ben’s room just before 8pm. Fast Forward… I ate and took my pill around 11pm, but didn’t konk until after 2am! No clue why. One brief wakeup, then the med alarm was going off at 6:30am. I heard Daughter get up, and felt Zeus with the ear sniffing.
I seriously considered staying in bed and going back to sleep, but I got up to help with Ben if needed, and to see him before he left for school. He was feeling lazy too, and didn’t get out of bed until 7am.
After my pit stop, I went to look at the sky… and take pictures.
It started off pretty ucky, but got prettier as the Sun rose higher. Ben did well, and my help wasn’t needed. I like when that happens. I decided not to go wait for the bus with them. I did Happy Dance at 7:29am PDT when I got the notification that he’d been scanned onto the bus.
I uncovered Sven and talked to him. He was grumpy, as usual. I got some worms and tossed them onto the greens from yesterday, and that changed his ‘tude. Of course I took pictures of him.
Too many pictures, I know… The worms were cold and sluggish, so Sven only missed once or twice. I think he just got really lucky cuz blueberries don’t move, and he can’t always get them on his first, or even his third or fourth try.
I got Horizontal and went through email and started on my WP Reader. When the alarm went off at 8:20am to remind me to go walking, I hit snooze. Five minutes later I turned it off. When I got up to get more coffee a half hour later, I looked at the sky. I saw that the clouds were moving in pretty fast, and thought the rain was probably gonna start sooner than noon, which is what the Guessers guessed.
I wanted to get under my blankets and snooze, but I kicked my own butt, and got ready for my walk. I figured I’d better hurry up before the rain started. I left around 9:15am and did the same two miles in thirty-one minutes… no pictures today.
I got back home and was still thinking about getting under my blankets and heading off to dreamland, but I needed to get groceries. I thought about ordering a delivery, but I kicked my butt again, and went to the store. I was glad I’d done the walk when I did cuz it was sprinkling when I left for the store, and raining when I came home.
I called Daughter on the way home so she could help me carry the stuff in, which she did. We put all the stuff away, and I changed into my sloppies. It was after noon, and my GLYSB time was flying by. I puttered around, put Sven in the shower, and before I knew it, I got the notification that Ben had been scanned onto the bus home… FIVE minutes early. BOO! I put Sven back in his terrarium and got Horizontal.
Ben got home at 1:45pm and went directly out the side door. I hollered out to him that he needed to change clothes if he was gonna play outside. He came back inside and started doing his chalk thang with the box of twenty-four Daughrer left out for him.
Around 3pm Daughter came and handed me her phone. A food order from Applebee’s. Alrighty then. I chose some stuff and took the phone back to her. Ben took that opportunity to first, ask for a soda, and second, a “bigger box of chalk”. I got the soda and the chalk for him.
I told him it was the last box of forty-eight I had. He said okay, but I doubt it registered. About an hour later there was a rather aggressive knock at the door. I ordered four more boxes a few days ago and forgot it was coming today. Excellent. Of course, it makes me look like I lied. I’ll just tell him tomorrow that more chalk came in the mail, which is true. (delivery and mail are the same for Ben)
The rain has been off and on since 10am-ish and it’s supposed to keep being on and off through the night and into the morning. Hopefully the Guessers are wrong about the morning part. I hope they’re wrong about the temperatures too. It has been unusually cold, and I’m OVER it! I keep hunching up, and that’s flaring my pain. I’ve taken more morphine is the past week, than I have in the previous several months. Ugh!
July 11, 1982. I saw these guys at the San Diego Sports Arena. Trivia: It’s the venue used in the movie Almost Famous.
Another GLYSB Day spent running errands, and Daughter wants to do laundry tomorrow. I’ll be so glad when they open the schools up full time. The teachers were eligible for vaccinations as of March 1st, so maybe another month or so… IF our cases stay low. I know the kids can pass it to each other, but they require masks, and temperature checks before getting on the bus. Plus, the class sizes are very small. Ben spends a lot of time outside the classroom, working at a picnic table also. I’m thankful for two days a week, but five would be nicer. Happy Dancing at 7:30am PDT tomorrow… join me?

Busy day! Our kids started back four days a week this week, virtual on Fridays. I saw pictures of the school. In the classrooms there plastic enclosures around the top front and sides of the desks. In the lunchroom, well, the middle school is the same desk/enclosure thing for each student. For the HS they have the long lunch tables with plastic dividers going down the center. The kids said it was more crowded than they anticipated and only 64% of the students opted for in-school learning. The rest chose FT zoom from home. It was quiet and clean today without a hundred trips into the kitchen for food and meals. Tomorrow is the day the big ones were usually home. It will be weirder tomorrow I think.
I hope you guys have a great night. Rain – bleh. I hope it clears up so you can keep up with your walking. Great job with that! And you have a really great day tomorrow!

Full time?!💃🏼🥳🎉 That’s awesome! Is Bob going to keep working from home? When do you get to send your “biggest kid”😉 off with a packed lunch??
My ex had his own landscaping business, and some days he’d hang out at home until almost noon. It messed up my routine. I bet you’ve forgotten what it’s even like to have the house to yourself.
It was SOOO windy tonight, the tall palm trees were bending. They’re very flexible but WOW!🥶 Wind Chill is new to SoCal and I don’t like it! 😫
I’m so spoiled 🙄😂
Enjoy your clean, quiet house!!💕💃🏼🌻🤗🥰

Bob is still being told that his office will not open until the fall at the earliest. I get it, he works in the city, has to take a train to work – his building is just swarmed with people on any given day. He works for Comcast and they have this huge TV display in their lobby that people come to see. HE is totally bummed. He is like Declan and really struggles with Zooms and calls – when he heard fall he was ready to cry. I would just rather he not go in until he is vaccinated. Here’s hoping he can get his shots before his office opens because I feel at this point, he will go to work without it if he could!

Too little sleep again and a busy day to boot. I hope you’re sleep pattern improve. Maybe tomorrow you can relax more. The pictures are great. The results from this phone camera are fantastic.
Over here we are again on online classes for this week and next week is spring break.
Hope it’s a better night tonight. Lots of hugs 🤗

You’re back to being a Grandma AND a teacher huh? No fun! Ben is supposed to Zoom Wednesday, Thursday & Friday but I think the school has finally given up. We haven’t even attempted it.
I’m hoping school will STAY open, even if it’s still only 2 days a week. With the teachers able to get vaccinated I’m optimistic it will be okay.🤞
Yeah, I don’t know why I was awake so late. I ate a bunch of cheesy lasagna too. That should’ve put me right into a Food Coma 🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️ I’m planning on doing an impersonation of a Sloth 🦥 Tuesday 😉😂😂 I hope your Tuesday is going well!🤞😍💐💃🏼🦋🌻💕

Yup, I am all of those again. But hopefully for just a week. They want to open schools but the virus is spreading again very rapidly so it has to be homeschooling for a while. My Tuesday is going well. We are planning on a surprise birthday party for my grandson. His birthday is tomorrow but we will celebrate it today.

Sven is looking a handsome boy! My tortoise Tufty woke up from hibernation this week – always a relief and good to see him. ☺️

Brumation is so stressful for me! I understand it, expect it, and know he’s okay, but I have to poke him every few days to make sure he’s still alive. 😕 I’m sure it’s nice for you to see your Tufty awake!🐢🥳💕

I knew you liked Rainbow, and I was thinking you’d like this one. Videos from the early days are so funny now! And we thought they were so cool 😎🤣🤣
We BOTH need more sleep! 💌💌💌

Yes. I feel for the parents having to work from home and care for their kids. But I also feel bad for the teachers. I definitely wouldn’t want to be exposed to students (and their families) in a pandemic.
Of course you need to order chalk. It’s his drug of choice and a creative one. Happy he has an outlet. I think some day you could put his pieces in a museum or something. They are so colorful.
All is good here. Kitty is finally sleeping. He meows all morning long next to Ken’s door while he is working. It wakes me up and interferes with Ken’s job. But he’s 15 and old. It’s too cold for him to stay outside and we have seen bobcats in the neighborhood (on our camera!).
Gotta get up and get going. Good to finally say hello again.

Teachers were eligible for the vaccine as of March 1st, so that’s good. The San Diego Unified union has been working with the LA union and they’re making SURE the classrooms will be as safe as possible. Good for them! School and office buildings are the worst kootie factories! Kids are just icky by nature and office buildings with all that recycled air… yuck!
Have a fantastic day, Teri!!❤💌💚🍀

Random little side note: It’s still weird to see phrases like “Ben was scanned onto the bus”. Things are SO different now. Back in the day, our parents had no idea what we did after we walked out the door in the morning. Well, they had a general idea what we were SUPPOSED to be doing, but you and I both know that “supposed to” and “actually did” were often entirely different things… 😉

Yeah… mom didn’t really care where I went or what I did, as long as I went to school every day, and was home for dinner, then curfew in my teens.
She was a firm believer in “Don’t ask, don’t tell” before ol Bill.
