If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.
I braved the palm tree bending wind to take pictures of sunset. Does that make me dedicated or an idjit?
The time change is still throwing me off. Moving Ben’s meds, and bath time is good for him, and will ultimately be less stress for us when Daughter has work, but it cuts into my evening routine, and discombobulates me. I managed to muddle through and The Boys were settled a little after 8pm.
I was finishing my Stuff and Things around 9:45pm when Younger texted that she wanted to come by on her way home from work to get her mail. She’d gotten a package too. She said I could just leave it in the mailbox, but I told her I’d be up for a while still, I hadn’t even eaten yet.
She arrived around 10:15pm. I gave her the stuff, then asked if she wanted to read The Letter. She declined, which surprised me. I figured out through talking to her more that she was hurt that he’d written to me, not her. That she hadn’t heard from him in a long time and it hurt. I told her that in part of the letter, he wrote that the woman he’d had a relationship with off and on over the past twelve years told him that Younger blocked him. He had no way of knowing it wasn’t true.
That explained at LOT to Younger and made her feel a little better about the relationship with her dad, but also worse for him, and angry at the woman. Anyway… some tears, lots of hugs, and she left to go let her dog out. I ate, took my pill and konked between 11:30pm and midnight.
At 4am I got BOUNCED! Ben was ADHD SpazmaTaz from 4am til 6am. He goofed with Zeus, he messed with me, he was loud… I must’ve told him to Settle Down at least fifty times in those two hours. NOT how I wanted to start my day.
I got up at 6am out of irritation. I couldn’t handle the bedquakes and the noise anymore. I went and hid in the baño. My Velcro Dog had to lay in front of the bathroom door, and Ben had to follow. He was hitting Zeus with a small pillow, and the Big Dummy wouldn’t get up and move away from him.
I heard Ben run off down the hall, so I figured it was safe to exit. Daughter was on the couch looking cross eyed and grumpy. I guess Ben had treated her to a Bouncing wakeup. Ben was also on the couch, calm and quiet. I guess he’d fulfilled his mission and could take a break. Little Bootyhead!
I went to let Zeus out the side door, but he wouldn’t go out until I went out. I should’ve just let him suffer with a full bladder, the Big Dummy, but I went outside. I went out a few times to take pictures.
Happy Dancing was at 7:29am PDT again. I was inside, and got the notification… I’d seen enough of Ben this morning, I didn’t need to wait for the GLYSB. I did get a kiss before he went out to wait.
After Happy Dancing, and going out to take the last couple pictures, I got more coffee, and went to get Horizontal… email and WP awaited.
When the alarm for my walk went off I did the same thing I did yesterday… snooze once, then off. I didn’t manage to kick my butt into gear until after 10am. I was cold, tired and lazy. I hope it’s warmer on Thursday morning. Daughter goes back to work tomorrow night, and she’ll want to sleep Thursday morning.
Anyway, I did the same two miles in thirty-four minutes today. I stopped for pictures a few times.
When I got home Daughter told me she was doing laundry. She figured we could drop the clothes at the dryers, then go pick up her paystub copies from the Skilled Nursing Facility she worked at prior to the hospital. She needs the paystubs to appeal the decision by SSI to cut Ben’s money by half, and also the Eight Thousand Dollars they say she owes in overpayment. She didn’t want to walk the mile to the facility then walk the mile back. IRONY!
I got Horizontal and attempted to go through email and WP… again. I got the email done and part of the WP. Just before 1pm Daughter was ready to go. So we loaded the clothes into the car, and drove them across the street to the laundromat. She put them into dryers while I went next door to 7-11 to break a twenty. Then back to get quarters and feed the dryers. The laundromat was busy!
Back to the car and onward to her old workplace. There were two big signs on the building… “NOW HIRING” and “HEROES WORK HERE” I guess the admin staff think they’re heroes cuz they’re apparently short on medical staff. Anyway, she got her paystub copies, and we headed home.
Ben was scanned onto the bus at 1:25pm PDT again. They’re cheating us out of five minutes. Those minutes matter! He got home at 1:45pm again, and headed outside again. I didn’t mind the rerun of yesterday… Monday was a pretty good day, Tuesday copying was absolutely okay with me!
I had to go get the clothes at 2pm. There was someone new working… a dude! The laundromat had cleared out during the previous hour, and there was only one other person there, so I could assume dude was working. Also, the dustmop he was pushing around was a big clue. I grabbed the clothes and headed back home.
After folding and putting away my stuff and Ben’s stuff, I got into my sloppies, finally (I’d been wearing my “public” clothes since I’d gone walking) and got Horizontal. Ben finished playing with mud and wet chalk and came inside to play with the box of twenty-four he’d snagged from Daughter’s room this morning.
Around 3:30pm he came into my room, got on my bed, leaned over me and said “Gramma?” I asked him what he needed, already knowing the answer. He said “I want ‘nother box chalk, please.” So I got him ‘nother box.
The sunset being later is still throwing me off. I see the time creeping toward 5pm and think sunset will start soon, but now it doesn’t start until after 6pm. Ben’s schedule is later too. No wonder time feels so slippery lately.
I have a question for you… after I end the daily, when I do a new Adventures post should I number it #366, or something like 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. or just give them subject matter titles, like “Spring Equinox”? I can’t decide.
I saw Heart in 1985. I’ve always loved this song!
Ridiculous morning and a chill afternoon. Life at Casa Cuckoo keeps us on our toes. Daughter goes back to work tomorrow night, but as far as I know, we have zero plans for the day until then. I hope it’s true. I’d really like to do my Sloth impersonation. Maybe Ben will sleep until a decent time too. I think the rain is finally over. Maybe the temperature will rise into the sixties. Anything is possible.
