The song is from their eighth album Kintsugi, released on March 31, 2015. It was nominated for the “Best Rock Album” Grammy. They lost to Muse.
According to Songfacts, this is about a long distance relationship. His often absent lover is somebody who, like himself, spends most of their time on tour.
Death Cab For Cutie is a band I like a lot. I hope you enjoy this song.

BKG I read that this song is about a long distance relationship, where both people are spending most of their time on tour. They want to be with each other, but their careers are keeping them apart. It is a pretty song, thanks for adding it.

I like Death Cab for Cutie but don’t know this song – I haven’t been listening to music lately (I have been listening to a ton of audiobooks). I’ll have to check this one out!

I didn’t know this song either😲😉
I knew a few songs with “cherry” or “flowers”, but wanted to find something different.
He has a great voice and they write good tunes!🎶💃🏼💕

The pictures I’ve seen of them are gorgeous! Younger Daughter ordered a box of Japanese snacks… a variety of different things. She was very excited to try all the Sakura flavored things. I can’t imagine what a cherry blossom tastes like, except maybe cherry?
There are tons of Sakura flavored things at blossom time. Like Pumpkin Spice Latte here, they have Sakura latte.
I think redbud trees are just as pretty… or Wisteria, any flowering tree…
Death Cab For Cutie is an odd name for such a mellow band. They’re not even really Emo😉 They are awesome. “I’ll follow you into the dark” still makes me cry every time I hear it😥
