Welp, here we are… another Friday, another week without a post except the Song Lyric Sunday, and that doesn’t tell you anything about me, or Casa Cuckoo. Also, pictures… no pictures since last Friday. Do you miss the days when I bombarded you with dozens of pictures daily, or are you glad you don’t have to scroll past? Rhetorical, you don’t have to answer.
I’m still lurking in comments here and there on WP, but my schedule is all over the place still. Ben is doing well with full time, on campus school, but I don’t have the Free Time I thought I’d have. I’m getting stuff done though, so that’s good. I’m still walking every day, even when I don’t wanna, and finding new plants and taking pictures.
This past week has felt chaotic, and very busy. The weather was all over the place too, and I think that added to chaotic feeling. Plus, Daughter is still off from work, so there’s no routine.
Anyway… it was HOT at the beginning of the week. 90°F on Sunday and 88°F on Monday. Tuesday was nice… high 70s, then Wednesday the clouds started rolling in and the temperature dropped, seriously dropped… low 60s, and it’s been cloudy and chilly since.
Zero clouds while it was warm, then completely overcast once the clouds came in. Neither makes for dramatic sunsets or sunrise. The clear sky was nice for seeing the moon, and surprisingly, stars, using my Night Mode on my phone camera, and the morning the clouds came in was pretty. I had some hope of sunshine this morning, but as you can see from the last two pictures, taken twenty minutes apart, my hope was dashed.
Monday was my monthly Pump Fill. I had a 9:45am appointment, so I did my walk between waving to the GLYSB and time to go. I was five minutes early, they were hours behind. I didn’t get called back until 11:45am. I took a minute to get on the scale to verify what my weight… 163 pounds, same as my Primary Care doctor. Dang! It only took the Proceedures Nurse like fifteen minutes to do my fill, and I was out of there a few minutes after noon.
But I had to go to the grocery store. We needed at LOT of stuff. By the time I got home, carried everything into the house, and put it away, Ben was being scanned onto the bus for home. And it was HOT. Monday wasn’t a happy day.
Tuesday, during my walk, I stopped by the lab to get the blood draws that my Primary wanted. Wednesday I walked to the pharmacy inside the grocery store to fill prescriptions for me and pick up Ben’s Adderall, but they were crazy busy, so I dropped them, then drove up in the evening to get them. Thursday I walked to get worms for Sven, Younger stopped by for mail, and my Primary’s office called with the results of my bloodwork… all good except high cholesterol. Today I just did the two mile neighborhood walk, after seriously considering skipping it.
Oh yeah, and Wednesday after my walk, Daughter wanted food from Funky’s, so I walked over to pick it up. And, I actually ate most of it when I got home. My tummy was about to burst and was yelling “Stop, you fool!” but my mouth was saying “More! Keep shoveling it in.” I stopped before I went from full to painful (see what I did there?), but just barely.

And Sven, everyone’s favorite Bearded Dragon, made sure I got my smiles all week.
Tuesday afternoon when it was nice, but not too hot, we put Sven in his “Vacation Home” and put it on the table by the window. He chilled for a little while, but then he escaped. Daughter put him back in the terrarium after that. He wasn’t pleased. All the other pictures are just random Sven days.
What else? The SSI thing is still going on. Daughter got two notices in the mail, with two different case numbers, both demanding payment in full by May 5th… one was like $1,800 and the other was $8,800. Yeah, right… we’ll just write a couple checks. She got the printer set up today, but it was being wonky so she walked away.
Ben has been spending time with his new class, next door in Room 2, this week. I think he officially moves to Room 2 on Monday. It’s kind of sad cuz we won’t be in contact with the teacher he’s had since he moved to this school, but it’s good for Ben. He needs to be with older kids, and since it’s next door, it’s not a huge change for him.
So that’s my week. I’m still trying to get things sorted and get some kind of new routine going. Daughter goes back to work on Thursday night, so next week is gonna be like this week probably.
Oh, also Younger is moving into a room in a three bedroom condo with two people who needed a roommate. She broke up with Partner. Good for her!
So, yeah… still Casa Cuckoo, still drama… but still lots of laughs too. I’ll be back on Sunday with Song Lyrics, and maybe another update before Friday. My second shot is on Friday, I should probably prepare in case I get sick… Murphy likes his games. I’ll be around… lurking and spamming up the comments.
.
HUGS!!
.
I wrote a post and deleted it after I had about 17 revisions. Just random stuff with pictures…people like that but I was taking a selfie of my hair and it didn’t suit my mood today so meh.
But I get to read you instead! I love the pics. The plants, Sven…
Eventually routine will set in. Right? Right.
I wish my kids were in school…they are plugged in day and night and I’m over it. So glad to hear that Ben is doing well. This makes your time at home easier to handle, even if it’s busy. If he’s doing well you don’t have to worry as much. 🙂

I thought about revising my post, but why start now😉🤣🤣🤣 You should’ve just hit publish. 😍
I’m hoping that all the changes all at once are about done. I’m good a going with the flow, but I keep getting swept away. (Yeah, that was awful🙄 Could delete, but not gonna 😝)
I just commented on another post about COVID Fatigue… we all keep cycling through it, and it’s harder when you see other areas have fewer restrictions. I got envious, I got mad at the people not following rules, I got tired of it all. Then I moved on, cuz what else is there, right? Right.
I’m very glad Ben is doing well. He needed to get away from us and away from the house. He doesn’t have any peer interaction except school. We expected the school to call us to come get him the first week, and he did have a bad day and bit someone. But his school is a special school, so they’re better at handling any problems these kids have. It’s nice to know he’s safe… and cared for. His teachers all love him… Charming bootyhead that he is.
More vaccines soon. Kids back at school soon. Sports events filling your time again soon. You’ll be nostalgic for lockdown days😉💌💌💌

Good too get news from you my friend. The pictures are very good, specially from your walks. Yay for the second shot on Friday. I got mine this week so another ten days to go before I’ll consider myself safe. I hope things get better for your younger daughter. Take care and keep us posted. Hugs.

Thank you Sadje! I just realized that with being behind I didn’t wish you a good Holy Day.
I hope you’re having a good Saturday and the weather doesn’t get too hot.😍💕

You DO seem exceptionally busy, despite more time to yourself than you had during the King Ben At-Home-All-The-Time Extravaganza. But no worries. Things will eventually balance out.
I’m very jelly of the tots from Funky’s. I’ve been fixated on them since the first time you shared them, and I’m still contemplating a move to Cali JUST to experience the gustatory goodness. My goals are small, but they make me happy.
Now, remember our discussion not too long ago about Meatloaf and “Paradise” and the “partnership” he had with songwriter Jim Steinman? Just a few hours ago, I stumbled across a recent “Rolling Stone” article where Meatloaf talks about their relationship. No need to click on the link if you’re pressed for time, but I think it’s a nice piece about what good friends can accomplish together. (And it turns out that “Paradise” is based on a true story.)

I finally got around to reading the article. Thank you! The part where he talks about they never sued each other, their managers sued each other… it made me sad that Jim didn’t get the recognition or his “15 minutes”, or celeb status… whatever. I’m glad Meatloaf is talking about him.

Lovely photos! Sven is smiling! I’ll have to try night mode on my camera. Vacation is nice do far, but i took a nap so now am awake after midnight. Doh…

Thanks! 💕 Younger calls Sven’s smiles his “Durpy Face”.
The Night Mode thing was my phone camera telling me what to do… I thought “why not?” I was just trying to get the Moon and didn’t even notice the stars when I was taking the pic. Phone camera sees better than I do🤓🙄

Fun to hear from you. It’s funny how I think about you and the family even though I’ve never met you in person.
Glad all is well on homestead. And good news about younger moving to another place.
How nice Ben gets to go to school .
I’m still hanging with the chickens, planting vegetables, baking bread, made chicken cacciatore for a friend who broke her ankle and femur. She slipped on a stair with socks on in her home. Poor thing.
Went away with my aunt last weekend to Guerneville Russian River where my family is from. Met with relatives, visited the cemetery, ate and drank good food and enjoyed my aunt Teri.
We had bad news last week. My sister has breast cancer. So awful. I got a call from her Thurs Am crying at the hospital wanting me to come hold her hand. Not a fun way to start my day. Poor girl! Of course I threw on my clothes and went.
Andrew still waiting for a call from sheriff job. Did i tell you he asked during the interview what services do they provide for mental health/autism? Egad! Doubt he will get the job now.
Curtis is also hoping to hear back on Monday about a sales job. He also has an interview at another company on Monday that is better.Keep fingers crossed 🤞 about this.
Glad you are eating more. Now get more veggies in that to go box and your cholesterol will go down. The walks are awesome and pics are amazing. Even Sven is happy. He has a new bowl!
Hugs and well wishes to you and hope you feel ok after your vaccination.
Much love
Teri

Oh no… any cancer is scary! Hopefully it’s early and the treatment works quickly! One of Daughter’s friends had breast cancer in her teens! They were able to get it all surgically. And Younger’s first love boyfriend of 8 years mother had breast cancer. She did chemo, radiation and double mastectomy just to be sure, and she’s great. Maybe your sister will come out of this with her breasts put back where they were when she was 20😉🤞
Maybe Andrew asking about mental health/autism will make them worried about inclusion. 😉 If he passed all the tests and he’s qualified, that may actually help him.
Fingers crossed for him and Curtis!
I’m glad to read that all is going well, except poor sister. I’m sure she’ll be okay. It’s just a shock and scary. She’s got you to hold her hand. And cook yummy food😉
I do eat veggies. Broccoli, carrots, green beans, zucchini… there was cabbage in my Funky’s even😉 They must put something addicting in their seasoning cuz it is SOOO good! Not healthy, but sometimes that’s okay. My cholesterol is too high from all the cheese I eat, and the butter, and peanut butter… 😉😂
Seems silly that I can’t gain weight, but there’s too much fat in my blood.🙄🤦🏼♀️The doc will probably want me to take meds for it. Ugh! More pills.

Well I’m not giving up cheese either.

That is a busy week! I like all the photos – of Sven and all the pretty flowers especially. Great job on your walks too! That stinks about SSI. I’ve had this insurance issue for Declan for almost two years now. I finally got a call from the insurance company that it was resolved, but I got nothing in the mail or in writing. I hate big business system glitches that take down the little person! I hope that your issue gets resolved soon!
And good luck on the second shot! I’ve heard some people get through with nothing and then others are sick for a day or two. Let’s hope you are the first one!

When I put all the plant pictures together I thought I should label them, then I realized that not everyone needs to know the names of things like I do🤪 Some of the plants are things I’d never seen before. And the banana plant surprised me. They’re around here and there, but not super common, and I didn’t even realize it was a banana at first, I was looking at the huge flower and missed the bananas above 🤦🏼♀️🤣🤣
I’m glad your Declan insurance thing is resolved finally. Or hopefully finally 🤞
Stupid SSI mistake. TWO case numbers. Obviously there’s an error, but meantime we lose part of our income, and have to do all the work to prove THEY made a mistake. There must be people cheating the system, but I bet the percentage is small compared to they mistakes they make that hurt people.
I really hope I do okay with the shot. Horrible timing cuz Daughter goes back to work Thursday night, and works Fri & Sat nights. So I’ll be driving and doing Couch Sittin Duty whether I feel okay or not☹. Just coming off of over 2 weeks of vacation time, she can’t really call out. Mr Murphy likes his games🤦🏼♀️ I’m hoping that since I’m “older” that I’ll be okay like most of the other old folks
The J&J shot is re-approved. Are you gonna go get it?

Bob went and got his – they switched to the Moderna one. I haven’t scheduled anything yet. I am at the tail end of whatever head cold I got from Bobby and just kind of hesitated. I want to be feeling 100% before I get the shot. I’ll be scheduling soon and accepting whatever they have. I do like the J&J is a one and done. If that is what they have that is what I’ll take.

I still have 2 weeks until my second shot… stupid Moderna. I don’t know who will take the potentially fatal J&J shot. My daughter is having a really hard time scheduling her shot. If she gets it now, she’ll be gone from Vermont by the time she’s ready for the second. If she waits until she gets home, same problem with vacation. Sigh. I just want her to get it done… but not the J&J. I’m not sure I could deal with a medical facility that’s already behind by 2 hours at 9:45. Stuff like that drives me nuts. I always go for the earliest appointment of the day just to avoid backups.

I try to get the first appointment too. The problem that day was the doctor decided she didn’t want to come in until 10am🤦🏼♀️ Pain Management is getting more and more difficult. Lots of clinics are closing down cuz they don’t want the hassle anymore, or they’re not writing prescriptions for opiates. I’ve got a super high concentration of fentanyl in my pump, so I need a doctor who can get the med, and has staff that does pump fills. 2 hours was ridiculous, and I thought about rescheduling after 45 minutes, but Monday was my “low reservoir” alarm date, so I needed to stay and get it filled.
I hope your daughter can get her vaccines sorted. I know you worry, like professionally 😉, but I read that the risk of blood clots from the J&J vaccine is lower than the risk of clots from oral contraceptives. Just a comparative fact that might ease your mind.

You are doing better than me, I haven’t posted in ages – lacking inspiration and creativity at the moment and busy decorating (that’s my excuse!) Must try to write something soon. I love your photos. The plants and flowers in your neighbourhood are wonderful. They look so exotic to me. Maybe I should do a post on what my area is looking like at the moment and include some photos? It might get me writing something! 🙂

Oooh! Yes please! Flowers and plants and animals. .. it’s love to see your area. There’s a blog I follow, single dad of an autistic son, lives in Yorkshire. He posts pictures of his area, and the flowers and the sky amaze me.
We get used to seeing stuff around us and forget that everywhere isn’t the same. Spring is such a beautiful season too.

That Funky’s looks so yummy! It’s good to see Sven is well and fine and still trying to reach those blueberries. You have a very beautiful walk. Thank you for sharing it with us. I’m excited for younger! Hope Ben’s move to a new classroom goes great! You have been busy! Don’t forget to get some rest in between adventures. 🥰🌙✨🦋🐝🍪💕

Funky’s is SOOO good! They have 3 locations around San Diego County. The one by my house is the original, and they started in a little Taco Shop space, but business boomed! They do burgers too, but their fries/tots are the best, IMO.
Sven keeps me grinning. He’s definitely not a juvenile anymore but he seems to have “teen angst”🤣🤣🤣
My body is making me “involuntarily sleep” again🙄🤦🏼♀️I try to schedule rest, but Ben, daughters, and robo-calls are in cahoots with Mr Murphy 🤷🏼♀️ Never a dull moment at Casa Cuckoo🤪💕🦋🌻😍

Bearded Dragons, especially males are territorial. He starts the head bobbing and gets a black beard when he sees his reflection😂 I don’t know if he’d actually fight, but he dances the dance,, so to speak.
I don’t know how he’d react to a different species of lizard. He’s a grumpy, pouty, little triangle-head.
I’d love a little slow! Maybe a nap once in a while.
I timed my walk perfectly today to coincide with the intermintant rain🤦🏼♀️ Murphy and his games.
