#SLS ~ Deep Greens and Blues

Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. No one commented about what I wrote in this section last week, so I’m assuming that everyone skips it, even though I change it every week. Maybe I’ll start writing some random, unrelated, crazy stuff just to keep myself entertained.

This week the theme words are –Delightful, Pleasant, Sweet

I tried to find a song with Delightful or Pleasant that I liked, but couldn’t find one that felt right. There are tons of songs with Sweet though, so the difficult part became trying to decide which was least likely to be used by everyone else. The rockers will likely use Sweet Emotion or Sweet Child O’ Mine, maybe Sweet Home Alabama. The Gen X-ers would take Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This). Paula gets dibs on Neil Diamond since she suggested these words.

I could’ve used many songs that have one or more of the prompt words, but all three words taken together as a theme brought me to James Taylor, a man a few of my reader do NOT care for (Sorry dudes! Don’t worry I won’t name you or shame you), but I really DO enjoy.

Sweet Baby James was written in 1969 when James Taylor got back to America from touring and found out his older brother, Alex, had become a father for the first time. Alex and his wife, Brent Taylor, had given birth to their first child, a baby son, which Brent wanted to name Richmond, after the city in which he was born. However, Alex wanted to name the child James, after his younger brother. So after a few arguments, the couple named the boy James Richmond Taylor. James was elated to discover that he had a new baby nephew, also named James. 

The song never charted, but remains a fan favorite. It’s from his second studio album, released in 1970 and also titled Sweet Baby James. That album also has JT’s breakthrough song Fire & Rain.

a song that they sing of their home in the sky, maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep
but singing works just fine for me

(Things at the Casa went a little better this past week, but it’s still just too much! We are trying to get a routine going and Mr Murphy keeps interfering.     1. I hope things settle too. The roller-coaster just keeps going though🤦🏼‍♀️ I can’t even get to my comments on time🙄 We had a near-meltdown Sunday, a rough start Monday morning and the GLYSB left without him after school on Monday, so we had to go get him🙄🤦🏼‍♀️
      Definitely Soap Opera/Reality Show level Cuckoo going on at the Casa.

      I’m blaming it on the Full Moon😉😂

      How is the new place and the new job going? Are you guys settling into a routine? I hope so.💕🤗🥰🌻

      1. Aww, that’s rough my dear friend. I don’t know about the full 🌚 moon but Mondays are usually tough on all, kids and grown ups.
        The move is done. The job is good too and we are enjoying the return to Islamabad. Thanks a lot Angie

      It has been crazy crazy at the Casa! We’re back to reality show level crazy🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ I keep thinking things are gonna settle down and then the school calls and says we gotta come get Ben cuz the bus left without him🤪

      Sven has the right idea… sleep through it all. He’s still doing his summer brumation. I get the Evil Glare Of Death when I poke him gently. I’d be worried if he didn’t do this every summer. But, yeah, I’d love to sleep through it all. I’d love to sleep.

      I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do daily again. But hopefully some kind of routine will form and I can do more than #SLS. I just KNOW how much you all miss the bombardment of pictures🤣🤣🤣

I went back to look at your post from last week when I saw that you wrote, “No one commented about what I wrote” and you got many more comments on your post than I did on mine, but without Song Lyric Sunday, nobody would even know my name. Great song and I always read and comment on all of your music. If you decide to start writing some random, unrelated, crazy stuff, I will still read it.

    1. 😂😂 My regular peeps DO comment, but last week I wrote what I did as a test to see if anyone was reading it. I always read everything on a post, but some people just skim🤷🏼‍♀️

      I might just include random stuff anyway since that totally fits my personality 😂

  5. I know I am so random when it comes to James Taylor – but he seriously is my #1 artist that I cannot get to the radio dial fast enough to change it when he comes on. I don’t know why I am so adverse to him but I guess we all have someone like that. Maybe.

    The first song that came to my mind was Sweet Jane by Lou Reed. It’s one of my faves.

      I’m the same way with the Foo Fighters. They just bug me for some unknown reason. Daughter called me out on it the other night taking her to work. She told me she likes the Foos and I should leave the song on for her. I told her she can be in charge of the radio when she drives the car😲😂😂😂

  6. I like James Taylor too! Great pick! If I were to pick another ‘sweet’ song of his, I think it would be ‘How Sweet it is [to be Loved by You].” I hope you guys are doing well during these crazy times. I am still struggling to get into the school routine – after 18 months of not doing it, it’s been tough. Your SLS posts are a great, upbeat break – and soooo what I need right now. 🙂

    1. We have had zero routine. We’ve been called to the school twice already. Once because he had a runny nose & cough, so the wanted him to quarantine for 10 days or get a Negative test, even though there was no fever and we sent proof of 2 shots vax. That was on a Friday and luckily he had the results Sunday so he was back on the following Monday.

      Then today his bus driver left him at school. Saw him coming to the pick up spot, but it had been 7 minutes (apparently they are only required to wait 7 minutes before they leave) so she left. Saw him and the aide, but wouldn’t wait😲🤦🏼‍♀️ His school is about 7 miles from our house. Luckily we were able to get to him pretty quick, but it really upset him to be left like that☹ These kiddos need their routines. WE need their routines🤪

      Ugh! Sorry to go off on a rant… maybe I need some more JT😉😂

      Hopefully things will settle for all of us soon… just in time for the Holidays, right?!🤣🤣

    1. I’ll keep your secret😉 I’m keeping up with the Sunday posts because I love music, but also to make myself do at least one post a week. I don’t want to drop out completely. ☹
      I probably won’t do every day, but I’d like to do a few a week. I’ve got tons of pictures of Sunsets, and Sunrises to share too😂😂😂

  9. If I were writing today, I’d write about Sweet Thistle Pie by Cracker and tell stories from my wedding. By the way, I read your intro last week and got a kick out of it. It’s exactly how I feel writing much of the time… Hello? Anyone reading this?

      I might start including random stuff anyway. I’m a random kinda gal😂

      In daily life, at home or in public, word associations lead to movie quotes or song lyrics and suddenly I’m speaking Movie or bursting into (really horrible) singing, complete with equally horrible dancing.

      I keep myself entertained, and hopefully give others a chuckle or three.😉
