Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. Random stuff… The weather is still yo-yoing from hot to rain. Ben is still having sleep issues. Daughter got her 3rd shot and her Flu shot, then got a fever and felt ucky enough that she called out of work. I had breakfast inside a Dennys with my mother on Friday morning. I hadn’t seen her since mid-late 2019, even though she lives in the same city. Her memory is slipping, so that’s going to be a Thing. Luckily she is aware and getting paperwork in order now. I have a difficult relationship with my mother… long story. My Primary Care doc says I’m very healthy. We’re reducing the Methotrexate from five pills to three pills and I’m allowed to have an occasional Adult Beverage, but since Methotrexate is an immunosuppressant I need to get the 3rd Kootie shot, I gained FIVE pounds (WOOT WOOT), and my normally high BP was 112/78. The nurse checked it twice to make sure. I guess that’s enough Cuckoo for now. My life is more bizarre than a “reality show”.

The prompt words for this week – Songs that feature wind instruments which includes Brass instruments (horns, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, and tubas) and Woodwind instruments (recorders, flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, and bassoons)

I didn’t have the usual struggle this week. I immediately knew I wanted to use the song Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul written by Richard O’Brien (aka Riff Raff) and performed by Meatloaf, from the movie soundtrack of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. What could be better for Halloween, right?! I know Melanie is a fellow RHPS fan, and she may use the song too, but honestly, I think all the songs are so great I could listen to them many times and never get tired of them.

RHPS is a 1975 movie released by 20th Century Fox, based on a play called The Rocky Horror Show written by Richard O’Brien. The movie was not initially well received but became a Cult favorite and has played at midnight showings continuously since it’s release.

I saw my first midnight showing when I was about 15. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I was hooked. The movie is available for streaming or on DVD now, but nothing beats seeing it in a theater with a shadow cast. Just make sure you bring all your props.

  1. Reduced meds is good news. I was also advised a 3rd shot of Covid vaccine. I may do it soon. I hope your and Ben’s schedule match up and you can get some quality sleep. Take care. Hugs.

    1. Thanks Sadje! I’m hoping the reduction helps with the fatigue. Can’t tell today since I took it later than usual because of Trick or Treating with Ben.
      I’m waaay off schedule again, and I was starting to catch up🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll get there… eventually.

      1. Thanks Angie, yup, got them shorter as finally it’s getting cooler and I don’t need to tie them up. I hope you can get back on routine and the reduced dosage helps with fatigue and still works! Take care. Lots of hugs.

  3. Health-wise, it sounds like things are going great for you. I hope the trend continues. I only saw RHPS once, and the shadow cast was extremely subdued,. Most of the audience was like me, there to see the performance but not really knowledgeable about the show (and not prepared to participate. I don’t feel like I ever got the full experience. I was shocked to see Susan Sarandon in that video. I had no idea she was in it.

    1. Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Tim Curry. It was 1975, they weren’t Big Names then. Some shadow-casts are better than others. I was fortunate to see it the first time in an old single screen theater back in the 80s, so it was kinda run down and “art house” vibe.
      I saw Quadrophenia there too, and every Mod with a Vespa showed up. I was out of place for that, but The Wall was after (double feature night, not midnight) so I fit in more with that group. People lighting up inside… in the “smoking section” of course.
      Remember “smoking sections”😂😂

      1. I actually don’t remember smoking sections. Maybe not a Maryland thing. Did you see Time Square with Tim Curry? My college played it outdoors on a brick wall about 8 times while I was there. Seared into my brain.

  4. My 3rd Pfizer shot in September made me sick for 3 days ~ 101 fever. Of course it’s better than getting the kootie, so I’m still glad I did it. I wonder if that reaction means I’m actually super protected now? I also got a flu shot (a week prior) and yesterday took my 2nd pneumonia vax, so I’m good for 5 years on that. But all these vaxes don’t stop me from tripping over nothing and hurting myself! I wish there was a vax for the clumsies because I’d snap that right up 🤪

    1. Daughter only had fever 2 days but swollen armpit lymph on one side is bugging her. She got both flu & kootie in the same arm at same time. I think she’s just super sensitive cuz neither Younger or I had a big reaction.

      I’m down for the clumsiness shot! Yes, please!!😂

    1. I’m always surprised when I meet someone who hasn’t seen it. Except obvious homophobes or deeply religious people, I understand why they wouldn’t see it🤷🏼‍♀️

  11. I loved RHPS. I went to my first midnight show when I was about 15 too. They called it a revival and no one understood what was happening. My friend Jeff kept the people to shhhh since he couldn’t hear the movie. We kept telling him to shhh himself & to play along. I wish I could remember why we took a loaf of bread. Very fuzzy memories.

    1. You might have brought the bread instead of bring toast?

      I’ve been to a few different showings, and Younger’s ex was part of a shadow-cast in college and we went to watch him and his group. It was a drama club thing at his school. He was Riff Raff… an image that’s still seared into my brain 😱 😂

      I didn’t dress up or do shadow cast, I just threw my toast. I have worn some crazy stuff in public at other times.

      I wore a Robin costume for Halloween trick or treating. Ben was old school grey/blue Batman, so I had to be Robin😉

    1. Ben started dozing off around 4pm yesterday. He’d gotten up at 2:30am, no surprise he was tired. He woke right up when I reminded him about Trick or Treating 😉😂
      He konked out hard after we got home and got him ready for bed.

      I think his dang teacher is still letting him nap at school. I get it, but it’s causing big problems!

      How was your Halloween? What did Declan decide to be? Ben was Batman, I had to be Robin😂😂 Not Robyn though, that’s you😘😂

      1. Declan was Kermit the Frog for the first hour but one of his eyes fell off. So he came home and switched over to his Sam (from Trick or Treat) costume. He dressed me up as Jason and Bob was Shorty (one of the Killer Clowns from Outer Space). The big kids stayed home and were the ones to walk Declan around the neighborhood. He had a good time. Yesterday we went to BOTH of our Spirit Halloweens to see what was on clearance. He ended up getting a Pennywise costume. We reminisced too. We were at Spirit Halloween the day they opened AND the day they closed. What will he get 100% into now? I am as excited to see as anyone!

        They let Ben sleep at school? Ugh! That would be frustrating. That happened to me when I had my kids in daycare. Bobby was the most affected. I would go to pick the kids up at the end of the day and he would STILL be asleep from the afternoon nap. Trying to get him to go to bed was a nightmare. I feel your pain! I hope you guys get some good sleep soon!

  15. That’s a fun choice. Good to hear you are fit and well. Sorry though that Ben’s still having sleep issues, that must be tough. Sorry to hear about your mother too – it’s hard as our parents grow older and even tougher when the relationship is difficult. Best wishes 🙂

    1. I was really surprised to learn that I’m as healthy as I am😂 I still have fibromyalgia so chronic pain, with insomnia. I guess I figured with all the meds and stress that I was unhealthy too🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I do have high cholesterol 😲 but I’m not giving up butter or cheese! And I don’t want pills for it either😉

    1. I think you’d really have fun at a shadow cast viewing. See if there are any midnight shows… maybe near a university or in the “artsy” part of town. It’s a trip! Lots of fun though.💃🏼🎶🤗🥰
