#SLS ~ Warning

Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. This week in Random News, things are still Cuckoo at the Casa. I haven’t been able to tell if the reduction of my Methotrexate is going to reduce my fatigue cuz the past two weeks have had me busy on Monday. Then Tuesday was my monthly Pump Fill. My appointment was for 11:00am, but they didn’t see me until noon. The appointment itself only takes twenty minutes… it drives me bonkers to wait! Then lots of errands on Wednesday to get ready for Ben to be home Thursday. Then more errands on Friday, plus Daughter went back to work Friday night. It doesn’t seem like I did much when I write it out, but it felt busy. One bit of good news for those following the latest on Sven the Bearded Dragon, he ate Saturday morning. He’s still sluggish and still going to see the vet soon, but I feel a little better since he ate something.

The prompt words for this week – Birth, Death, Life

I had the perfect song in mind for this prompt, but a quick search confirmed that I already used Lightning Crashes on June 6, 2021… Dang! I came up with about six or seven other songs, but finally decided on Warning by Incubus.

Warning is from their fourth album Morning View, released October 23, 2001. The album was a commercial success, eventually being certified double platinum. Warning was the third single from the album, released May 28, 2002. It reached #3 on Billboard’s Alternative chart.

There has been speculation about the significance of the time in the video. There’s even a Reddit thread about it. Some people claim it’s a reference to an older song; some claim it was related to the Mayan calendar; and some think it’s related to a passage in the Bible. The specific passage is Hebrews 10:24 – “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works”. I couldn’t find anything from the band saying one way or the other.

Bat your eyes girl, be otherworldly
Count your blessings, seduce a stranger
What’s so wrong with being happy?
Kudos to those who see through sickness, yeah

Over and over and over and over and ooh-ooh

She woke in the morning
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning
Don’t ever let life pass you by

I suggest we learn to love ourselves before it’s made illegal
When will we learn? When will we change?
Just in time to see it all fall down

Those left standing will make millions
Writing books on the way it should have been

She woke in the morning
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning, warning
Don’t ever let life pass you by

Floating in this cosmic Jacuzzi
We are like frogs oblivious to the water starting to boil
No one flinches, we all float face down

When she woke in the morning
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning, warning
Don’t ever let life pass you by

Pass you by

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh

  1. You do sound very busy make sure you have some time for yourself.

I do like this song very much, I used to hear a lot of Incubus when our youngest was at home … memories. He married with two sons now.💜 Where does life go?

  2. Sorry to hear Sven isn’t feeling well.
Andrew had good news from a job. He didn’t get the job, but they will make a position for him cause they liked him so much. Maybe in a month or 2. We are frustrated, but he is thrilled and excited.

    Hoping you get some rest.

    Take care

    1. Thanks, Suzanne🤗🥰 I have to remind myself that I can NOT hold myself to standards of when I was 30 and healthier… before chronic pain.🤦🏼‍♀️🙄 I can be awfully dumb for such an intelligent person😂😂😂

  3. I didn’t know this song. I like it! And the message. Did anyone pick Closing Time by Semisonic? That is the first one to pop into my head about birth. I never knew it was about birth until I saw the video where the band explains each line. Makes sense!

    1. Check them out, they’re good! You’ve probably heard some of their stuff and didn’t know it was them. Lots of radio airtime in 1999-2000 and after.

Dang! I had to look that up, didn’t realize it had been 20 years🙄🤦🏼‍♀️. I hate when time smacks me in the face☹

    1. I love Incubus and have since “Drive” & “Pardon Me”💃🏼🎶 I haven’t seen them though☹ One of the bands on my list😉
Are you getting any more sleep? Staying off ladders? Wearing your boot when you stomp in muddy puddles?😂
