#SLS ~ Martian Masters?

Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. Ben still isn’t sleeping well and so neither am I. He’s on break from school now until the 29th. When he goes back he will officially be in NINTH GRADE (mind blown). Puberty and Autism make for an interesting life, but that’s for another post. This post is about Music, so let’s get on with it, shall we?!

The prompt words this week are – Pets, Names, Memories

Going with an earworm that sneaks up on me and hangs out often. From their 1993 self-titled album, I give you Pets, by Porno For Pyros. The band name is in reference to the looting and burning during the L.A. riots. The song was actually #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart in the U.S.

Copy Pasta straight from wiki we have: Porno for Pyros is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles,  California, United States in 1992, following the break-up of Jane’s Addiction. The band comprised former Jane’s Addiction members Perry Farrell (vocals) and Stephen Perkins (drums), as well as Peter DiStefano (guitar) and Martyn LeNoble (bass), until LeNoble was replaced by Mike Watt during the recording of 1996’s Good God’s Urge.

Porno For Pyros only released the two albums, then Jane’s Addiction got back together.

I saw Jane’s Addiction in the early 2000s. The tickets were free, so I went. I like them but I’m not a super fan. What song would you choose for this prompt? Are you a Jane’s Addiction fan? Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I always thought it would be nice to live the lifestyle of MY pets😂😂 They think they have it rough, bless their hearts😂
      I can’t believe Ben is going to officially be a High School student. Seems like I was just in high school🤪

  5. Ugh. Now I’ve got “We’ll make great pets” in my head for the rest of the day. I always wanted to like Janes Addiction and Porno for Pyros more than I did. I felt like an alternative music fraud because I thought they were boring. Maybe it’s too early and I haven’t had enough coffee, but I can’t come up with any songs for the prompt. If one pops into my head, I’ll add more later.

  6. I have heard of Porno For Pyros and Jane’s Addiction, but I think this is the first time that I listened to any of their music unless I heard it on the radio and was unaware. I hope the Martians never make pets out of us. It was a bit repetitive, but I really enjoyed your song, Angie.

    1. I’m glad you liked it! I didn’t realize how repetitive it was until I looked at the lyrics. There really isn’t much to it, but it seems like a lot of songs that hit #1 are repetitive… 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess earworms sell😂

    1. Yes, yes… I recall you suggested an excellent title for the funny part, but there’s also the not so funny part with testosterone rages. Maybe I’ll actually write it up someday🤷🏼‍♀️ in my spare time🤣🤣🤣

  8. Janes Addiction fan here! Summertime Rolls is my favorite song by them. I saw the theme and my mind went right to the same song! Gosh, I hope you get some more sleep. Declan is down with Covid so he’s taken over my bed and all my attention – but he is sleeping, so things aren’t so bad. Hope you get some rest soon!

    1. Ugh! Kootie strike. It keeps missing us, and Ben has been exposed twice🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m not complaining, although he’s much calmer on the rare occasions he gets sick.
