#SLS ~ Deep Dive

Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. I’ve had a craptacular week at the Casa, but we all have problems, right?! I roused Sven but he went back in his house. I’ll get a post with the pictures out soon, or soon-ish. Now on to the Music!

The prompt this week – Underrated Deep Album Cuts

I haven’t bought ANY music in so long, this was a difficult one for me. Then I remembered a CD I used to listen to often, Sleep Through The Static, by Jack Johnson, and my favorite song from that CD. Personally, I think the entire album is great but my favorite song is Monsoon.

Wiki tells us Sleep Through the Static is the fourth studio album by singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, released in the United States on February 5, 2008

The first single, “If I Had Eyes“, was released via Johnson’s MySpace page on December 11, 2007. The second single from the album was “Hope” and was released in September, peaking at number No. 30 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling about 375,000 copies in its first week, including 139,000 digital downloads. This was a record high for weekly digital album sales. It also debuted at number one on the Worldwide chart with sales of 577,000. It held the record at iTunes for most digital downloads in a single day, until Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends set a new record.

Sleep Through the Static remained at number one on the Billboard 200 in its second week of release, by which time it had sold over 180,000 copies, as well as its third week, in which it sold 105,000 copies. It fell from the number one spot in its fourth week, in which it placed third with about 92,000 copies sold.

.

Are you a fan of Jack Johnson? What song would you choose for this prompt? When was the last time you bought an entire album of music? What album and in what format did you buy? CD, Download, Vinyl??? Thanks for stopping by!

.

HUGS !!

    1. I don’t know that much about Jack Johnson except he lives in Hawaii and is very eco minded. He uses solar to run his studio, has “green” concerts, and he does surf. It doesn’t surprise me that he did it professionally.
I’m glad you liked the song๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿฅณ

  1. This is a great hidden track. ๐ŸŽถ. Itโ€™s always fun to find those. Itโ€™s like you discovered a buried treasure. I didnโ€™t know the album broke digital download records either. Gosh music has changed! I still like vinyl sometimes! ๐Ÿ˜„. ๐Ÿค—โœจ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿชถ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿซง๐ŸงŠ๐Ÿ’–

    1. I used to have some of the classics on vinyl… then cassette๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I’ve never bought a digital download๐Ÿ˜ฒ I had to giggle when I read that JJ released the song on his “MySpace”๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I never had a MySpace either. One was created in my name by my adopted son, but I never used it๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ

  2. Too jazzy for my taste. I’ve never heard of Jack Johnson, before but then if he didn’t come out last century, the chances are slim that I would.. I’d really liked to get hooked on some new music, but I think I’m just too lazy. Plus there’s gobs of old music I’ve never heard.

    1. Jazzy? Hmmm… ๐Ÿค” I wouldn’t call his music jazzy๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ it IS super mellow. Even the title song from that album, which is about the war in Iraq, was mellow. I’m still finding tons of older music and some good newer stuff. Have you listened to The Hu? Mongolian Metal with traditional instruments and throat singing. Pretty cool. A band called Wet Leg is getting a lot of play on my local “Alternative” station. I guess Harry Styles even covered one of their songs… whoever he is๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

      1. I think you directed me to the Hu at some point. Now that I have spotify, it will be easier for me to listen to them again. I, unfortunately, listen to loads of Harry Styles because Sophie loves him.

  3. Good song! I actually have never hear it before and really only know Jack Johnson from the song he had in Wedding Crashers I think it was? Bubble Toes? That had a catchy beat too.
I’m sorry things are craptacular for you right now. That really stinks! It is almost time for the GLYSB to make an appearance and of course, time for the happy dance! We are in our final week of summer break. The two big kids are already in the thick of their HS fall sports and D and I made our first trip to Spirit Halloween – to get in the Halloween spirit ๐Ÿ™‚ . Today is all about back-to-school shopping – school supplies and school lunches. Giddyup! Thinking of you and hoping for a peaceful week!

    1. Yep, bus on Monday… we don’t know what bus or what time and I can’t get Daughter to contact transportation at the new school district to find out๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ He’s going to the same school but he’s going to be a student of the high school district now, so different transportation department. She has been more of a frustration than Ben this week๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think he’s ready to do something different than the daily house routine๐Ÿคช
Good luck with your crew. What will you do on Monday after they’re gone and the Happy Dance is over?? I’ll probably sleep๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
